Yep! My suspicion is confirmed (Ernie Hudson) does in fact portray a character from the original series!

Ooh. It goes from bad to worse (not spoiling lol). Woah! That was one hell of a leap at 45 minutes! Fifteen minutes left. And they all lived happily ever after.

Also, the new Dr. (Ben) does not say "Oh boy!". He now says "OH SSSHHH!"

Sweet! Next week's episode looks promising.

So does the new show have Al and Ziggy in it?

Sorry but Al (played by Dean Stockwell) passed away last year. So, there is no Al. Caitlin Bassett is the one portraying Dr. Ben Song's hologram as the character Addison Augustine. But there is someone that is close to the Al character from the original series.

As for Ziggy... well... Ziggy grew up and is now a super-uber-duper A.I. quantum computer on steroids!

And yes, quantum computers are a real thing. They make our desktops, laptops and smart phones look as first dimensional as a piece of paper compared to something that is multi-dimensional beyond the 4 dimensions we live in as human beings. All-be-it we humans can only move one way in that 4th. dimension. Linear. Forward through time.

Yes! VERY different! Different stories, different people, different names, etc., etc., etc.!!!

NO ONE from the original series (actor and/or character) is in/on this new show at all.

In the words of Mr. Spock... "Fascinating". I find it fascinating that about 300 people have viewed this thread since it was restarted and yet... only two people are commenting.

The only reason Ziggy is there is because she's been there the entire time from the original series. She's a computer and hence her original programming and tie from the old Quantum Leap project is valuable.

As for Ernie Hudson's character of Herbert "Magic" Williams... that character ties into the old series from the episode "The Leap Home pt. 2". Magic was a part of Tom Beckett's unit in Vietnam. Tom Beckett is Dr. Sam Beckett's older brother.

Another new character is Janice Calavicci. The daughter of Al Calavicci and she is working with Dr. Ben Song in this new series. Me thinks they are trying to bring Sam home.

Other than that we only see a picture of Al and a picture of Sam on the show as well as hear their conversations about each character.

So the show is more of a continuation from the original, rather than a redo of the show?

Ooh wee! I'm watching the new episode right now and they brought back another character from the original QL. Somehow I missed it in last week's episode. Anyway, they brought back Al's wife Beth (played by Susan Diol)! Saweet!

Oh wow! What is Janice up to with her dad's old hand held? Maybe we'll find out in next week's episode? And speaking of, I took a peek at the episode and it has Justin Hartley (from "This is us") in it.

And really? Can't they think of other types of people other than a boxer or bounty hunter for Dr. Ben Song to leap into? I mean come on... Sam leapt into the lives of a boxer and a bounty hunter.

Anyway... dang good save Dr. Ben Song!
