Chronicles of Narnia Discussion #1

Hey for all those people who are fans of the The Chronicles of Narnia book series. The second book Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian will be hitting the scenes on May 16, 2008. A year after their first adventure in Narnia, Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy are pulled back in by Susan's magic horn. They find that hundreds of years have passed, and Narnia is now ruled by the bloodthirsty General Miraz, uncle to the true heir, Prince Caspian, now in exile. Now the children must find Caspian and help him depose Miraz.I am so excited.. The movie will be a must watch. For people who haven’t read the Narnia collection the movies are generally better!Lets share our thoughts on this.

Nice starting post.

I know Narnia has a big following, who else is excited to see Prince Caspian?

I can't wait :) I loved the first film immensely. I'm one of those weirdos who loved the movie more than the BBC series (though I completely adore those) and not because of the special effects, but because I felt the witch was so much better portrayed in the movie. She was just so believeable in this one, and I think the children acted and talked more like children do. I mean in the BBC show when Lucy meets Mr Tumnus ske directly asks him "Are you a faun?", but in the movie Lucy more carefully asks him "What are you?" and when asked if she's a "daughter of Eve" she confusedly says "My mum's name is Helen...", which just sealed the deal for me. And when the rest of the movie was done with great acting, great plot and on top of it, amazing special effects... well, then it can't fail....

Disney's been showing a lot of behind the scenes footage for it (you know their press machine works overtime) and I get excited every time I see it. It's just such a great world that I'm glad they've let us explore it.

I wish the film was being released later in the summer. That way I could use my niece's visit as an excuse to see it in the theater like I did the Harry Potter movie last summer.

I've never actually read the books although I've purchased two complete sets. The first I ended up giving to my niece and then I got a replacement set for myself but still haven't gotten around to reading them.

For me, it was the griffins and the phoenix.

it has been so long since i've read the book, but i like the big battle scene between the White Witch and Aslan and all the good characters of Narnia.

i can't remember them all.
