Legend of the Seeker Appreciation #1

The official website: Legend of the Seeker
The imdb.com page: "Legend of the Seeker" (2008)

Despite the official website giving me a bogus time and channel to watch the show, I managed to see the first 2 episodes by stumbling across them while flipping channels yesterday (4pm Central time on WGN). While it wasn't perfect, I didn't hate it and will try to remember to catch it next weekend.

I saw this. It had awesome CGI and overall I really liked it. It's nice to have something like this on, it's been a long time since there was something Herc/Xena like on.

I saw it yesterday on a repeat....I wasn't overly impressed, but it wasn't as bad as the reviews have made it out to be. It's got Bruce Spence in it, which is always a plus in my book.

I did get cracked up at how Kaylyn's hair seemed to always be blowing in the wind.

She's a witch, that happens.

I want to see her with other powers though.

'Seeker': A girl, a guy, a wizard and a quest - Yahoo! News

I wonder if WGN is going to show 2 hours of Seeker each week? Though the first hour this past weekend was the second hour from the weekend before, unless I missed something. I watched the first hour for a few minutes but everything looked like a repeat so I FF'ed to the second hour and watched it all the way through. But now that I look at imdb.com, the second hour was supposedly episode 4 (Bounty), but I don't remember anything about an episode 3 (Elixir).

No surprise that Ted Raimi (Joxer on Hercules & Xena) made an appearance. The map thing was kind of cool. Is that in the books or something unique for the television series? There were some moves (one especially) by Kahlan that were seriously off. I'm also a little annoyed by Richard leaping about and bringing the sword down, reminds me too much of the leap Matthew McConaughey made in Reign of Fire. And to a lesser extent the jumping moves Brad Pitt made in Troy. Over all, though, I think it's still fun, mindless entertainment.

My friend asked the same thing about WGN, how it says they're on episode 5 this week already, which is weird. Everything else in IMDB says that the show is only on episode 3 everywhere else. Strange.

At least there are no problems with Bruce Spence.....

i've seen the 2 episodes and i like it. it reminds me in a way of Hercules and Xena. the landscape is the same and we have people on a quest and along the way they help people.

from today's Ask Matt at tvguide.com
Quote:
Question: Does negative reaction to Legend of the Seeker make a second season less likely? I know many fans of the book are harshly speaking out against the series, but I love the show. — Maria O.

Matt Roush: The worst thing that could happen to a show like this is for it to be ignored by its fan base. The show did not get very positive reviews (including from me), and I'm not keeping up with fan reaction, positive or negative. But what will determine Seeker's future has all to do with business: how well it performs in syndication for the local stations and how well it sells in the overseas markets. I haven't seen any early returns yet, but Disney has made quite an investment with launching this new fantasy series into syndication, so I'd expect them to stick with it unless it proves to be an utter dud. ...

Right now, I'm hoping for a full season....I don't think it's been fully ordered, yet.

I wasn't aware it was getting such a negative reaction from the fanbase.

I don't think it is, but the fan base can be turned by the negative reviews.

Xena never got good reviews, but the fanbase loved it. Now days, if the reviews are horrid enough, fans just won't tune in.
