what is The Professionals? A new show?

livstevi21 08-11-2019 12:47 AM

Yep, Tom is currently filming this new show called The Professionals. All info about it is on the respective thread. :) He's filmed it in Northern Ireland and now in South Africa.

TomsEnough 08-12-2019 04:01 AM

^ Is this the thread where you will explain, or am I totally lost?

livstevi21 08-13-2019 08:34 AM

Yeah I was about to explain.

So, when I went on the website of Wales Comic con to look at buying tickets, I was shocked to discover that almost all of them have sold out already! This con is different to the way Showmasters do it. So instead of being able to buy a pass for the specific guest and then just the entry tickets, with this one, they offer many varying tickets;

VIP PLATINUM Weekend Pass
£360.00
SOLD
OUT

VIP PLATINUM Saturday Pass
£190.00
SOLD
OUT

VIP PLATINUM Sunday Pass
£190.00
Limited Qty Available

VIP WEEKEND PASS
£200.00
SOLD
OUT

VIP Saturday Pass
£110.00
SOLD
OUT

VIP Sunday Pass
£110.00
Limited Qty Available

So the only tickets available are for the Sunday. There are general entry tickets available for the Saturday, but without any of the extras. I would much prefer to be able to have all the perks that come with the VIP passes such as priority entry, photo op included, fast queue to autograph etc. The problem with this is that as I am coming home from New York that Friday, the best way for me to get there is to travel straight from Heathrow to Telford and be there for the Saturday. But I don't want to go to the con with just a general entry and no perks. The other option is to just buy the Sunday VIP entry. Head all the way home on Friday and then make the journey to Telford on the Saturday. However, there's a problem with getting a hotel room for the weekend. There isn't any close by left. No rooms left at the hotel on site, and the only hotel that has rooms left is too far away. The area where the convention is being held is not ideal either, I really don't like it. So there's that. Yeah. And Telford isn't an easy place to get to. If the convention was held in Cardiff (city) it might be different. So I am holding off for now. Waiting for Tom to perhaps come back to London or perhaps to a con closer and at a more convenient time for me. So yeah. I might change my mind, something might come up to make it better, but I've made the decision to not go for now. Gutted, but there'll be other times. And plus, I'm lucky enough to have been able to meet Tom last year, so I mustn't grumble, despite obviously wanting to meet him more than just once.

TomsEnough 08-14-2019 01:03 AM

^ Oh, okay. Thank you for explaining. Perhaps the convention's intentions is to only allow residents of the city to attend?

I will hope something might open up for you so you could try to meet Tom on Sunday.

Hmm not necessarily. Sure, Wales Comic Con is certainly in no way as big or as accessible as London Film & Comic Con, but thousands of people from all over the country have attended it (possibly people from overseas too) despite it's smaller stature. However, it has gotten bigger over the years (been going for 11 years, run by events management company - Mercury Promotions UK) so it obviously had outgrown it's previous venue at Wrexham (large town in Wales) University which is why they've moved to a bigger venue for this year, though not in a place you'd expect. Telford isn't even in Wales. And it's not a city, it's another town (though a newish town). But the area in which the new venue is located is not ideal, at least for me, especially on how to get there. It's right by huge main roads with no easy walking access to and from. I just wish they had moved it to Cardiff, Wales capital city. Easier to get to for people travelling from all over and surely to have an even bigger, better, easier access venue than Telford. The fact that the convention has been getting more and more popular over the years due to the star studded guests they've been getting, I don't think it's their intention to keep it just for locals, they obviously want to reach out to people all over the country, but surely that would mean it's time to move to the capital. :sigh:

TomsEnough 08-15-2019 01:10 AM

^ Oh, okay. You must be right since you do live there.

livstevi21 08-16-2019 02:35 AM

Well, most of my information only stems from looking it up online. I don't actually know a whole lot about all the conventions held in this country. And Wales is a good 4-5 hour journey away from me.

TomsEnough 08-17-2019 01:27 AM

^ Oh, okay.
