Well, the first Halloween is John Carpenter's. The original from 1978. Halloween II (1981) was written and produced by him, but he didn't direct it. He also didn't direct Halloween III: Season of the Witch, but he did produce it and compose the music. John Carpenter also directed films like Assault on Precinct 13, Escape from New York, The Thing, Christine, Starman, Big Trouble in Little China, Prince of Darkness, and They Live.  Most fans weren't. But then, Carpenter was always dissatisfied with his version because he had to go back and do reshoots when his original cut didn't work out so well.__________________

Well, it's quite possible you're right. Carpenter said himself that The Fog wasn't his favorite of his works. He said "it's alright."
