I really love how much they brought up Holtz before they introduced him.
He's one of the stories the writers put a lot of thought to and it wasn't an out of nowhere storyline.

I do like how his arrival was foreshadowed, but I wonder how much of their arc they had actually planned out other than that they were going to bring him back. I mean, they didn't decided that Darla was gonna be pregnant till they started season 3

I feel they had a plan about Holtz character and how big they were going to make him but don't think they had Darla in those plans.
I know he was just mentioned a lot... so it makes me assume (especially looking at it now) that probably there was a plan for him although I am not sure what the original plan was exactly.

Or probably it was a great coincidence. lol
