Definitely! The composition of those two scenes together, just worked so well, & you could see both of them just completely losing how they usually try to act like they're not actually important to each other. They were always vulnerable with each other in a way that they never had been with other people

So yeah I could understand James pain when Angel killed Elizabeth.

I wonder if killing Elizabeth made Angel think of when he killed Darla & had to live with that, I mean, they tried to make it a bangel thing, but really, if anyone was Angel's version of Elizabeth, it was Darla....

^ It definitely was! their history together was 150 years! she was his vampire soulmate so it would've made sense to think of Darla even if it was written to be comparable to Buffy.

Yeah, & James & Elizabeth were so much more like Angel & Darla than Angel & Buffy ever were, they really couldn't compete. Angel was down in that episode, & when Cordy is trying to cheer him up, he suddenly realizes that she expects him to be sad about Buffy - so I like to think that he was thinking about Darla instead

^ It was surprising though that Angel wasn't as devastated about losing Buffy as many probably would've thought he would've been.

I think a little biut had to do with all the new friendships he had and how different he was compared to how he was in Sunnydale.
