Twice. In the Nightmare episode on Season 1 and in premiere episode in Season 2 Buffy really met her dad.
But the actor was also in "dream sequences" in Season 5 when Buffy was catatonic and then in Season 6 in Normal Again you know when Buffy thought she was in that clinic.
