Exactly my point
 Yes, it was rather brash to just boldly jump to the conclusion that Buffy was in a Hell Dimension rather than exploring every possible option, but I think you really have to take into account everyone's state of mind at that point in time. It had been months since Buffy had died, but I hardly think they were done grieving what had happened at that point. Willow already was deep into the darker magicks, and trying to somehow hold everyone together from a leadership standpoint, which we see her doing in Bargaining Pts 1 and 2, wasn't good on her state of mind at the time.__________________

I do kinda wonder why the writers chose to bring her back that way, I mean the whole depression storyline would have worked just the same if she actually had come back from a hell dimension - the season wouldn't have had to be really that different at all.

I guess so, plus I think they like the whole 'road to hell paved with good intentions' thing, everytime someone tried to do something for the greater good, it would backfire in one way or another

Same, & like I said, they literally could have done the entire season exactly the same even if she had been pulled out of hell because her depression & Willow's magic addiction still would have made perfect sense
