How strong do you think Buffy is?

I ran across this:

Quote:
My varied guess was Buffy was about as strong as about 10 men, vamps about as strong as about 6 - 7 men, but vamps could be physically stronger than her if they were far more aged than just a few hundred years like Kakistos or The Master. Say the average-sized guy who doesn't even weight train can benchpress about 100 pounds, then Buffy can probably press about 1,000 pounds. (Maybe a little more).
And I just wondered what you all thought about it yourselves? And how strong do you think she is compared to Spike, Dru, Angel etc.?

I never actually thought about that before. I would place her as about 6 men, and I always put vamps as the same strength as her. I think 10 men would be too high

Wow, that's actually a really good question. For whatever reason I think her strength varies - like in an episode her hands were tied and she couldn't break free of the ropes, yet she can bend metal prison bars with her bare hands and lift Olaf's troll hammer like it weighs nothing. Maybe the strength of 6 or 8 men for the most part - I'm not really sure.
When it comes to fighting, her and Spike always seemed pretty well-matched, with her maybe being just a little stronger, and I think the same goes for most other vamps.
That is a good question though - I'm not too sure . . . .

This is a really good question...problem is there's no real answer for it. I'm not sure even the people who worked on the show know how strong she is...it seemed to have varied with the special effects budget. Her strength was variable from season to season...maybe she got stronger every season?

I keep thinking back to What's my Line where Kendra locks Angel up in a Jail cell with a flimsy lock that he should have easily been able to break.

I agree it definetely depended on the special effects.

Maybe she got stronger as she got older. After all most slayers didn't live long So she should be stronger than one that was just called.

I always thought that Spike and Buffy had equal strength.

I guess Angel and Buffy would have equal strength too. I wouldn't think a fledging would be as strong as a master vampire or a slayer.

I think a fledging would probably be as strong as a potential slayer.

In ATS ep Sanctuary Angel says Buffy's a bit stronger than him.

She's strong enough beat up twats like Angel and Faith, anyway.

I think she and Faith have equal strenght. She might be a little stronger than Spike and Angel, though.

No, Buffy's fights with Faith, if studied carefully, demonstrate her having slightly superior strength to Faith. Faith is likely roughly on a par with both Spike and Angel. Buffy's the exceptional one, described as being stronger than usual for slayers.

hmm...never thought about that.

I always assumed that she was alittle more tougher than Faith and she;s more clever with her moves.

When it comes to Angel...yea Buffy is stronger than him. But if it was Angelus instead..i think he would put up amazing fight against Buffy. Don't forget...Angelus is unpredictable when it comes to his fighting and intelletual ways.

As for Spike...i always considered him alittle tougher than Buffy. Maybe 'cause he's my fav. But seriously, i believe he can whoop Buffy on a good day (without chip, soul or no soul). That's why he;s Buffy's monster.

I would've thought Slayers get weaker as time goes on. Wasn't there a story in 1 of the Tales of the Slayer books(#1 i think?) where a Slayer mentioned that at 29, she wasn't as strong as she used to be? Even though that is the authors opinion, i think it makes sense

I don't remember which episode but somewhere in s5 Buffy easily picked up a troll hammer that Spike couldn't lift earlier.
Could Buffy's strength vary depending on the strenght of her enemy?
Strength wise she was no where near Glory but with her in mind Buffy trained and got stronger.

i always wondered why Slayers weren't made invincible. i know show-wise it would of gotten boring if they were always stronger than everyone else but i've always wanted the Slayers to be invincible

*shrug*

Well, if we remember, in season 1 she was pretty weak. She could barely beat a fledgling. But by the time she fought Glory she was pretty rough. Remember when she beat up poor puffy Xander? As far as book references, I don't use 'em. Mostly because they contradict a lot of the series. Like the one with Spke and Dru? So, knowing that, the Tales of the Slayer books might be pretty unreliable. Particularly when it's said in the series that Buffy is the only one to last as long as she had.

Right now, I'm willing to bet she's as strong as The Master. That's right now. When she fought the Master she was not that strong. Also, Buffy died and was brought back. And Spike could hit her when he had the chip, after she was brought back. So she's not quite human. Maybe, by the time of the last season, she's as strong as Glory. I mean, she beat the tar out of that Uber-Vamp...

I guess the longer/older a Slayer is, the more stronger she will be.

Putting my two cents in. The Slayer in order to be able to battle vampires and all types of demons has to be very strong so I would guess that she would have to be as strong as them if not stronger. Buffy has the add thing of being friends with a power witch Willow as well as having back up.

And Angel did once say that she was stronger than he was.
