Well, if you're going to watch any American soccer during the Olympics...it's going to have to be women's soccer...because our men didn't qualify!!

Michelle, you know if I was you I would say the same - punch the guy back. The truth however is that when something like that happens, I just ... I don't know freeze? Maybe it's panic I don't know. I didn't punch the guy back, because I didn't have the strength. I know that I stopped respecting the guy, so yeah he was like dead to me, nonexistent.

Right now I don't even remember the circumstances. My parents don't even know about this. I didn't tell them such things so I guess I didn't take it bad and that didn't ruin my childhood or something. I just thought that this guy won't turn to something good if he continues the same way.

Now the guy definitely respects me, says 'Hi' to me whenever he sees me and he wouldn't ever tell me even something remotely offensive. I doubt that even he remembers this situation. It was one time thing, but I've never talked to him that much and honestly I don't care. I hope his brother is better because that's what's important here.

You have a point about the sign there. I guess I never thought about that, because I'm afraid of heights and water and I would never jump there, especially knowing that on the bottom of the water are rocks. I guess I didn't realize that some people don't have that fear and without sign they might jump.
Betty came up with the fabulous title.

I'm not that familiar with American soccer, so I didn't know about Mia Hamm
Koni, did you ever see the film, "Bend It Like Beckham"? Mia Hamm was in it.

Thanks for the thread Michelle! I like that title. I don't know how you come up with interesting and catchy titles. I so suck at this .

Happy Father's Day to everyone! We don't have such holiday here! That gif is so cute Betty!

I think that I've watched Bend It Like Beckham, but I'm not sure. The title is familiar, but I don't remember anything from the movie. I think that one of my roommates in the university (the one that I couldn't stand ) was watching it one time and I might have seen at least some scenes.

I might check it out. Thanks for noting this .

Thanks for the link! Yeah, seems cute. Also I see that the actress that plays Kalinda from Good Wife also is starring in the movie.

Plus the way I see it there is some cultural exchange between English culture/Indian culture and comparisons.

How old were you when this happened? What an idiot he was. I am glad he respects you now. He better!

Yes, when I grew up I played with more guys than girls. That was just how it worked in my neighborhood. We would play touch football a lot, American football. I was always picked first when we picked teams (yes I was a tomboy and yes I do have athletic ability, probably my one and only talent LOL) and the boy that was the younger brother of a guy who would always pick me, got mad that he was near last to be picked so he walked up to me and punched me in the cheek. HARD, too. I was 10 years old. I was shocked. Then I got angry, so I punched him back and he hit the ground super hard and started crying. My parents marched me to his parents in order to talk about the situation but I got off because it came out that he started it and I was only defending myself. He was always very polite from that point forward.

Yes, that is so scary. Is he doing okay today?

I think that I was no older than 10, maybe 11-12. He is younger than me with 2-3 years, but when someone punches you with a fist in the stomach, you kind of stop breathing for a moment. At least I felt that way. I'm not athletic though, so yeah I definitely could haven't done what you did . Also I doubt that this is your only talent . It just was one of the things that you enjoy doing and that's cool. I'm sure though that you have many other talents that make you happy.

I was the opposite. All kids my age was outside playing while I was at home reading or playing with construction blocks, backgammon and that kind of stuff. I've always liked the intellectual games more than the physical ones.

I don't know how he is doing, because I got my information through my mom. And she's not the one who will be calling or asking them like that, because they are worried enough. There is no need to pry in such cases. When they show that they want to talk to someone, she would listen to them. So far they are waiting.

You are quite the intellect, you can see it very clearly. So it makes sense your childhood was filled with intellectual brain power things instead of roughing it up outside like I used to do. LOL.

My talents are probably athleticism and psychology. I can analyze the mind, surely. Those are top two for me. Beyond that, I guess being a kick ass Godmother (according to my nieces) and I'll proudly take that.

But I suck at math, computers, anything like that. I am terrible! Oh, and I don't have a creative bone in my body either. Nada. LOL.

Well, no news is usually good news in this type of situation so if something bad happened to him, you would know by now. Yes, I really think maybe a warning sign should be put up in the area. Not everyone seems to be as aware and/or using common sense. Especially if people are drinking and fooling around, having a good time. The rocks are not focused on and people just apparently go for it.

Thanks. You seem quite intelligent too, so I think that no matter that you loved to play outside, you still are smart! Also being good with kids is like serious power. Really! Sometimes I have to look after a coworker's kid when he plays with the soccer team and I'm so worried that I suck at this, so that I can't watch the game, because I'm careful about her. Last year though when I saw other coworker's kid, she hugged me. It was so cute, because till that moment I've seen her only once (she is 4 years old now, but then she was 3) and she just wanted to hug me.

We can't be always good in math now. I can't paint, like at all . And my creative side is doing something with math, not with arts. So don't worry!

Yeah when you drink a lot of incidents could happen sadly. My mother says that bad news travel fast, so it's better to not have any news , this means that something good is about to happen. That's why there should be at least one sober person in each friends group to keep them in line.

Is your line of work math related, Rachel?

How did you spend Father's Day?

Yeah I second Betty's question for Rachel .

So good news about the boy - he manages to stay a bit awake, doesn't eat too much, but he still eats some liquid foods and that's good. He has no memory problems. He has pains in the back, legs and arms, but that means that his nerves are OK. He starts rehab today. He was implanted some artificial vertebrae, so he will need physical therapy to get used to that.

I'm sleepy, that happens when I watch sports events till 4 am and then go to bed for 2 hours. Good night for all of you who will call it night now!
