I've been reading lots of players and others thinking Australia got screwed. It sucks. :irked:

This is one of the few reasons why soccer internationally is a flawed sport. There's way too many controversial calls, whether were talking bookings (yellow or red calls), fouls in general, players flopping, etc. Even the center ref calling the game in minutes... he/she dictates how much extra stoppage time and sometimes you'll see there's 5 minutes of extra time yet it goes over 5 minutes and a team scores, with, say 5 minutes, 45 seconds into stoppage time and you're like WTF... there was only 5 minutes stoppage time! Why didn't the whistle blow 45 seconds ago!

The game isn't sound like football or hockey where you have TIME ticking away and there's no opinions on how much time is left, everyone can see how much time is left, period. Most of the time the correct penalties are called... sure, here and there you can get pissed over a call but as a rule, it isn't damaging the entire outcome of the game like it often does in soccer. Often, an outcome of a soccer game comes down to a controversial call. It sucks.

We will have to agree to disagree here because I watched the repeat too and there was a contact. According to the new rules even slight contact warrants penalty so similarly to how Portugal got penalty against Spain France got one too.

What I am annoyed is how hyped this gets for nothing IMO. Honestly Portugal got screwed too. No matter how much I am for Spain there was a foul in the first goal of Spain and the first goal of Spain should not have been accounted but it was and I don't see anyone talking about this.

So why people focus so much on how Australia got screwed up and no one talks how Spain was helped? Why the media focuses so much on France being helped, but not on Spain being helped? It seems like double standard for me, but this is what media does quite often to be honest.

I’m discussing because Sam is Australian and I’m sensitive to this fact. Simple as that.

In my opinion there’s endless things wrong with the rules of soccer and when you compare to other sports it’s very apparent. It’s my right to feel this way too. :)

Of course everyone has the right to feel certain way. I feel like soccer gets too much hammered when other sports have these problems too and for me that's not fair. Referee errors happen in every sport but I don't see that much hype in saying for every other sport that sucks because of this.

But like I said we will have to agree to disagree.

Multiple. The article I read said many but didn’t list specific players. But the team is full of class because they’re not lingering and complaining outwardly. They’re turning the page it seems which is great because your squad has a real chance of getting points against Peru and Denmark. :) Two teams advance per group so there is no reason the Aussies still cannot grab one of those spots. :)

Costa Rica being Costa Rica. Their same style like always. Very defensive style. They play with five at the back and pack the rest of the team with players who understand their defensive responsibilities. Insert the US in for Serbia (both play a more offensive minded game) and it’s like watching US/Costa Rica.
