There's a similar story from England. Once upon a time there was a club called Wimbledon FC. They were an amateur club from south London who in an extra-ordinary way climbed their way up the league system in the 80s and ended up in the Premier League. They had a very small fan base, and in the early 90s they were forced to move away from their home stadium Plough Lane because it was in a very bad condition, and they didn't have the recources to improve it. Here's a picture of it a couple of years after it was closed: Today apartments take up the space where this classic stadium used to be. So sad. Anyway, they worked out a groundsharing deal with their nearby neighbours Crystal Palace, and stayed there for ten years. The club which was by far the poorest in the Premiership fought on and stayed in the top flight, and the fans still had their club nearby. Then, about five or six years ago, people who wanted to make money from the club bought it, and said they "had to move the club from it's roots to avoid bankrupcy". Everyone knows this was bollocks, but the move still went ahead. They made plans to relocate to a London suburb by the name of Milton Kenyes, which at the time was the fastest growing city in the country without a professional football team. Obviously, Wimbledon fans were outraged, and boycotted the matches after the decision to move was made. From having an average attendance of about 13,000 the seasons before, the last season in London they only averaged at 1,500, with most of them being away supporters. Now, here starts the good part of the story. The Wimbledon fans about to be left behind started their own club called AFC Wimbledon. Because English football doesn't have the franscise-system, they had to start on the 8th level of the division system. Despite playing amateur football of low quality they had an average attendance of about 3,000, twice as much as the club they used to love. Now, six years later, they have been promoted three times, and are now at the 5th level of the football pyramid. At the moment they are semi-professional, but they have every opportunity to get promoted once again in the next couple of years, and then they'll probably turn full-time pro's. Meanwhile, the club now known as Milton Keynes reside at the 3rd level of the division system. They have a brand new plastic corporate infested stadium, but their average attendance is only 9,000. Hopefully it won't be too many years until AFC Wimbledon and Milton Keynes meet in a league match. I know which team I will be supporting! __________________

Matty, what do you think of Ronaldo winning the Soccer award over Torres? Do you believe that he deserves it?

Yeah, he did deserve it. However, that doesn't stop me hating him with desire. __________________

Avery was fun in New York because he could help the team. In Dallas, he's completely changed the identity of the team to the point where Mike Modano is obviously fed up with him, the team is in last place, and the team is playing awful. He's not the only problem with the team, but he's somehow become a problem that is bigger than just one player should be; his antics on the ice have changed the way the team plays, and his antics off the ice have embarrassed the team. I didn't mind Avery one bit in New York, he's a fun guy, but he's become a HUGE problem for the Stars. They haven't been able to control him like the Rangers were able to to the extent that they were.
Oh, and in obvious news: the Canucks are desperately missing Luongo. The goaltending has not been bad, but the team has not been playing the same without him. Bah. __________________

You know...I'm so tired of listening to the bellyaching of the Texas fans. I'm on the good end of the tiebreaker, but I just as easily could have been on the other end, and I don't think that I'd be as much of a whiny b*tch as most Texas fans have been. They cry and cry because they beat us...so what? Texas Tech beat you, a fact that is always lost in the fervor of Texas crybabying. Why exactly does that not matter if Texas victory over us does? Texas Tech is getting screwed just as much as Texas is, but you don't hear them moaning and gnashing their teeth like some epic wrong has been done against them.

I'm not touching this with a ten foot pole! Soccer Matty, is this why many people dislike Ronaldo....because they think he's a vain weinie? What did he do.....try to block a shot to his face with his hands? Quotes from a writers' blog on the incident...pretty funny. Quote:

I thought the Avery thing was a bit of overreacting. He said that stuff in a press conference, and now he's suspended indefinitely? Wow.

My thoughts on Avery is that he's getting punished harder now given his historical antics. I thought he was a moron whenever he pulled what he did on Marty last season and I think he just developed this sort of reputation (his own doing) so now whenever he so much as steps out of line, they are going to come down on him hard. That's what I think could be going on. He's like a "repeat offender" which means he will hardly ever catch a break no matter what but the thing is, he put himself in this predicament so now he has to sleep in it.

Elisha Cuthbert is the ex he was referring to this time.
The thing with me is, the man could go out on the ice, get in a fight and beat the living crap out of someone, and he wouldn't get nearly this kind of penalty. Then, Dallas' owner comes out and says that he would have suspended him if the league hadn't...if they are so fed up with him, why not cut him, or trade him, or just send him home and eat his salary. __________________
