Patricia, the opening is absolutely gorgeous! Thank you for it and thanks for being behind the creation of this thread!

For years and years, we've included books in OT2 and yet no one talks about books! It's either because it's dominated by TV, film and music and as a result, people feel like a book topic is hijacking the thread... or I don't know. But I do know that books (outside of Harry Potter every once in a while but hasn't happened forever) were not talked about on OT2 so this was a wonderful idea. Especially since as a rule, Everwood fans are mature intellectuals who love to read. Just thinking about our posters, past and present, so many love literature, writing, reading.

I am so glad for this thread! Thanks again! :D

I love gone girl. It's an amazing character study.

I loved the book, but was so disappointed in the ending.

I generally don't read books that are 'critically acclaimed' or would be considered 'literature.' :D Most of my reading is firmly in the fantasy/sci-fi genre, and recently it has tilted more heavily into the 'Urban Fantasy' genre. My current reads include Patricia Briggs' Mercy Thompson and Alpha and Omega series, Karen Chance's Cassie Palmer series, Jim Butcher's Dresden Files series, Kevin Hearne's Iron Druid Chronicles, and I have found the Castle tie-in books ostensibly written by Richard Castle to be surprisingly fun reads.

The books that I've liked that are more traditionally fantasy: the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind, pretty much anything by Terry Brooks, and of course the Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling even though I find some of her behavior and comments since the series has ended to be off-putting.

I'm currently reading The Last Wish by Andrzej Sapkowski. It is a translation of the original Polish Witcher stories that the Witcher game series is based on.

IKR! It just....ended and that was it. The movie didn't do much better. I was flipping pages and I was landed at the book credits. I mean..WHATTTT?!?!?!? How can this be...it just ends?

That it was. It's a true story of how marriage can really change people's perception of others and change themselves.

Spoiler:

I just ordered the first four books of the PLL series from amazon. They'll be here next week :woot:

I think that's why I love the ending it was totally unorthodox.

break the window 01-01-2015 11:06 PM

it was totally unexpected for sure.

tbh, I think the book wouldve come off totally different if the book ended differently.

I agree. I don't think I would love it like I do if it had a different ending. Right now I am reading book1 of outlander.

You can add the Shannara novels by Terry Brooks, Watchers by Dean Koontz, and the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs to the OP if you'd like.
