Basically the owner wants to start a new team here in Bulgaria dedicated on my project and the Development Chief offered the owner for me to be the leading member of the team.

On the other hand in Hannover they want to hire additional people and the project manager wants me to train them.

So now they want me on both ends. He said that there are a lot of options including working part times in Germany and Bulgaria. So basically I could make a compromise and work actually in both countries supervising things without tying myself to only one of the choices.

He said that I don't have a term to decide and I can take my time to decide. He wants me there, but he is OK with me being part there part here. He told me that once I'm reasdy to discuss it more seriously we would move things forward.
Wow, how nice that they want you in both places. That's awesome. It shows how much they value your work. They also have to love your great English too. You are totally bilingual, on top of being very talented in your area of work.

How far away would you be if you moved to Hannover?

When you fly to Northern California? What would be the party and do you plan to go?
I leave for Northern California on January 5th. My colleague and I are flying out. We actually considered driving out together and touring parts of the country along the way but with New Years days before this, it was a bit tricky. We will fly instead.

I also just found out that I will have several family and friends visiting me.

1. Two Cleveland friends are coming out on the 7th since they want to make a big deal of my birthday on the 8th which I wish they wouldn't. They are staying from the 7th - 14th.

2. Two extended family members are coming out in February for two weeks. They'll stay at a hotel nearby.

3. Nieces/sister and maybe brother-in-law are coming out the third week of March and staying for a week.

4. Parents are coming day after my nieces and sister arrive and staying for two weeks into April.

So, it's basically like I'm bringing Minnesota and Cleveland with me.

The Christmas party on Friday is at a nice restaurant on campus. Food/drink for a few hours. I will probably just stop by for an hour and then go home.

That's great. My mother's gift is ready. I need to take care of my grandmother's gift. I've chosen the pictures, but I need to print them and put them in frame.
What pictures are you putting in a frame?

I try to not make too much of a deal, but to be honest this is an offer they hadn't made so far to a co-worker from the Bulgarian office. At least not that I know of so that for me is huge. Yes obviously luck helped. I started working on a task that turned out to be so big in this project that it made me valuable asset for the project itself, but still success is when you manage to take advantage of your luck. Fact is that the owner of the company doesn't know anyone by name. They know the team speakers and leaders. Basically the ones on higher positions. And to come to a point to talk about me and discuss me well that's great and overall it's really not something that happens every day. So yeah that is cool and I think that it's a great opprtunity.

Well it should be about 3/4 hours flight. No more than that. It's more if you travel by car, but yeah I don't drive so yeah it would be flight for sure.

That's great! Time will fly and you won't miss them at all. Awesome indeed.

What an honor, Koni. Really, just the fact that you were asked is a huge thing in itself. It's incredible. You should be so proud of yourself. Luck had hardy anything to do with this. Sure, being at the right place at the right time can be a good thing, but in your case, you absolutely had to have the ability and level of trust needed for them to even think to ask you for such an opportunity. Incredible, really.

I would be extra intrigued by working out of both offices, too. It would actually be great for your Introversion and to get away sometimes. Even if you worked in Bulgaria most of the time but made business trips there a couple times a year. That would be great outlet for you to get away and work a little.

You have so many options which is so nice!

Thanks ! My mother is very proud about this and I'm happy about that. You know I'm not the type of person to show too much emotions so my mother had to ask me three times today if I'm happy about this . It's like I need to take my time, make my decision, make it reality and then I might get happy about it.

Yes combining both offices sounds really good to me and if we manage to do something like that it would be awesome. This way it will be good for my Introversion, but I will also be able to keep close contact with some friends as well.

Yes I think that she will like them. It would be good memory for her because both me and my cousin don't live near her. Well my cousin is closer, but still.

Awe, your mom is such a great mom. My mom was the same way with me. She wanted to make sure I was happy about the northern California opportunity too. She helped me make a pro and con list and I went from there. She also gave me the speech of not feeling like I HAVE to take the opportunity just to prove that I CAN. Or don't not take it if I am scared I'll be homesick, etc. Good moms always know the right thing to do and say and it appears that we have good moms.

The combining both offices definitely sounds intriguing.

Oh yeah. I have great parents. I mean we all have our faults. No one is perfect, but they are good parents and they taught and raised me well and even though it's hard for them to see me grow and leave the nest they are still supportive of me which is what a good parent would do. My mom would help me with pros and cons as well . We already started on that.

That's all a parent can do....teach...guide...and let the child go when they're ready.

Michelle, It doesn't sound like you'll be alone much while away.

Exactly. I don't care how old I am either. I will always need my mom for help when I have a decision to make or need expert advice. She's the best because she knows me better than I know myself. If you have a close relationship with your mom, it goes without saying that you want her advice with major life decisions... I don't care how old you are. When my sister and brother-in-law have something huge they are deciding on, they will come to me or my parents for advice and guidance. Ultimately, they will make their own decisions but having close family support is everything. There are times when my sister will make a decision and my brother-in-law will actually ask her what I think or my mom thinks just as a comforting back up to their decision.

Well, I spoiled plans. It was already planned that two Cleveland friends were coming here around my birthday. They had to change flights. I was also going on spring break originally with family to Niagara Falls. Instead, it will be California. I'm glad because my parents are taking two weeks in California and a few days in Vegas. Glad my situation could give them a longer spring break vacationing in a really great part of the country.

That said, I'll have tons of alone time in February, half of March and almost all of April, all of May and June until I come back. Loosely adding up the time, I will have close to 4 1/2 months on my own without anyone being there.

I have great parents too. I don't think they have ever raised their voice with me ever. They have always been supportive and never really questioned me. My mom especially is always there for help. She always does everything for everybody else or is always thinking of someone else. She'll just buy you things and drop them off just because. I like that part! Lol.

Twin! How you are?!

So great about your parents. Your mom sounds outstanding. Yes, I don't care how old you are, if you have a good connection with your family, it's golden, and there's nothing wrong with leaning on them when necessary. When I get sick, even in my 30s, the first person I want to talk to or to make me hot tea or comfort food is my mom. I don't care what that sounds like. It's true and here to stay. LOL
