Rina Mimoun #1: She was there until The End
Alright, so Rina's name is pretty much as synonymous with Everwood as Greg Berlanti's, whether that's a good thing is up in the air still, but I thought she should have her own thread. She finally has her own show coming up called Surviving The Filthy Rich on The CW, a small little drama/comedy that looks to have a lot more heart than its network is letting out. So, now we have this thread to discuss that show, her involvement in Everwood, as well as her past work: episodes of Pushing Daisies, Gilmore Girls, Dawson's Creek, and Jack and Jill.
Hell...she was with The WB for most of its existence, that's pretty scary/impressive. Heh. Besides, my love for Rina is just as big as Tos' was for Greg Berlanti...except mine was healthier because it was for a girl. A list of Rina's Everwood Episodes: "The Kissing Bridge" – season 1 "Turf Wars" – season 1 "The Price of Fame" – season 1 "The Unveiling" – co-written by Greg Berlanti – season 1 "Home" – story by Rina Mimoun and Michael Green, teleplay by Greg Berlanti and Vanessa Taylor – season 1 finale "The Last of Summer" – co-written by Greg Berlanti – season 2 premiere "Daddy's Little Girl" – co-written by Joan Binder Weiss – season 2 "Just Like In The Movies" – season 2 "Unspoken Truths" – co-written by Greg Berlanti – season 2 "The Day Is Done" – co-written by Michael Green and Greg Berlanti – season 2 finale "For Every Action" – season 3 premiere "The Reflex" – co-written by Anna Fricke "Oh The Places You'll Go" – teleplay by Rina Mimoun and David Hudgins, story by Bruce Miller – season 3 "Where The Heart Is" – co-written by Michael Green – season 3 finale "A Kiss To Build A Dream On" – season 4 premiere "Goodbye, Love" – co-written by Greg Berlanti – season 4 "Foreverwood Pt. II" – co-written by David Hudgins – season 4 – series finale Rave review from Thefutoncritic about Rina's upcomming show __________________

Yay. Thanks for starting this one, shadow.
Look at that list of eps. Absolutely incredible. She's always been one of my favourite Everwood writers, along with Berlanti (obviously), Michael Green and Vanessa Taylor. And I thought she did a really admirable job in the showrunning position, put in a really tough position. Again, I think I've said this about five hundred times too many, but it was like Joss leaving Buffy and Marti being left with the show. Except Rina did a MUCH better job and was always a MUCH better writer. She got Everwood. And she's definitely a big part of why we still talk about it all the bloody time. I can't wait for Surviving the Filthy Rich, which is no secret. She's deserved her own show for far too long, and I can't wait to see what she does with this one. Now, let all the Jack and Jill posts commence! __________________

What a great thread idea, especially with her show being picked up ! thanks for creating it !
and wow, when you see the list of episodes she wrote, it's just like most of them are the most fabulous episodes of the series !! Granted, lots were co-written with Berlanti but still, she has incredible talent. |

I am on-board with this thread. Rina will always have a special place in my heart just for showrunning my beloved Seasons 3 and 4. (Unpopular opinion, perhaps, but I really do love them best of all.)
I wasn't terribly excited about Surviving the Filthy Rich, but, after watching the available clips a few weeks ago, and reading the reviews, it's sounding better -- much more of a family/relationship drama than it looks like on the surface. __________________

Oh, trust me, I'm 100% man over here. *flexes, but fails since I have no muscle*
Rina really did write most of all of my favorite episodes, which is just startling. I've never had a writer before where I've loved a majority of their work. She and Greg did write a lot together, didn't they? So why hasn't he recruited her into one of his other projects!?!?!? Imagine how epic that would be. In any event, I think her having her own show will really be beneficial in demonstrating her talent, outside the thumb of Greg and Bryan Fuller. I'm very stoked. __________________

And about the muscles shadow. I'm wondering who she brings in, if she brings in any ex-Everwood writers that aren't currently writing (there's a few, although as said in another thread, all of the big four and more have a show right now) and if she goes to some of the Everwood directors. I don't know how much the CW would have a say on that and how much Rina would, but I'm interested to see what she does there. Just one of my nerdy things I like to take a look at. __________________

Ooh, here's who I would for her to bring on for writers:
Joan Binder Weiss, John E. Pogue, Bruce Miller, maybe some peeps from Pushing Daisies/Jack and Jill. For directors, she's always been close to David Petrarca and Michael Shultz(they all started working together on Jack and Jill), so I could see that. __________________

Agreed with your writer choices too. The first two, especially. They haven't had much luck with their post-Everwood shows, and both are absolutely fantastic. Rina seems to do a really good job attracting good casts with her scripts. That ABC pilot that wasn't picked up (bah) last season had a very good cast, and Surviving the Filthy Rich is shaping up like that too. Everyone wants to work with Mimoun. Now just get Greg on the show! __________________

So we've got a little new info on Rina's new project.
One, Anne Archer has been cast as the grandmother. Two, the show has apparently changed its title for the 90th and a half time. All this info and more: Anne Archer is 'Privileged' Just a quick look at Anne Archer's imdb, and she has apparently been in everything. Busy woman. I can't picture her in anything I've seen, but I'm pretty sure I've seen Clear And Present Danger, Rules of Engagement, and Fatal Attraction, so I'm sure I've seen her. And "Privileged"? Such a bland name. I hope they change it back. And then I hope they find a name and stick with it. Oy with the poodles already! Still VERY much looking forward to this, even if it does end up being called Privileged. Also looking forward to some more casting/writer infos. __________________

Another name change? Dude. Did they decide that "filthy rich" sounded too similar to Dirty Sexy Money? At least the earlier titles demonstrated a connection to the source material -- Privileged is just so generic. With that title, it could be a show about, like, yuppie investment bankers.
Plus, Surviving the Filthy Rich was a fun enough title to make it sound like the dramedy that it appears to be; Privileged sounds too snooty and uptight. On the casting, Anne Archer seems like a good enough choice to replace Marsha Mason. Still wonder about those last two roles, though. __________________

You should know that I would have found this earlier, but I was sadly registering for college. Stupid people are making me take a writing test cuz my ACT score was 2 below the required amount. Blah!
I can warm up to Privileged, but the other was fun and kind of related to the plot more, but whatever. __________________

Another member to the cast, this time for the love interest.

I don't know, don't really know anything about him. Mostly because he's only guested in a few things, only in the past three years. I guess I would have liked to have someone with a bit more experience, but this is really Joanna Garcia's project anyway in terms of acting, so I'll hold out judgment on this guy until it airs. Is there anything else left to cast? Something that Rina can squeeze an Everwoodian into? __________________

The only other uncast part remaining was Lily, and according to IMDB they tapped someone whom I've never seen before named Kristina Apgar, so, looks like we're sadly Everwoodian-free. *sigh* I had so much hope for the Will or Lily casting.
Though, Hallisay was good in that Cold Case in which he appeared, and he is awfully pretty, so there's that. (That's probably not so important to you, though, 'Tos, hee.) And Apgar is apparently exactly two days younger than I am, so...I guess I should support people who were born in June 1985? __________________

Well, I'm glad he's pretty. Hehe. That's probably important for a CW show to have a pretty love interest. Or any show really. I think most of the audience, well, isn't going to be guys to say the least. Luckily Joanna Garcia is also pretty, so we've got something too!
