4.4 Miss Conception



- Oh God, Felicity is holding a pregnancy test. Felicity thinks she’s pregnant? Another torturous reminder she cheated on Ben. Yuck.

- Javier is hanging with Felicity again, due to the pageant. It is so interesting he’s around the group constantly all season so far.

- Elena, Felicity and Javier in a scene together talking about Felicity needing to look sexier is hilarious.

- Felicity’s hair super big is funny.

- Sarah is super pretty.

- Javier telling Felicity he loves her is always cute.

- Javier looking at a hot guy… is this foreshadowing? He’s been around the group all season long, which is awesome, and now he’s commenting on a hot guy. It seems weird because we haven’t seen his husband or even a mention of Samuel.

- Javier’s saying if Elvis was still alive, Felicity would be living in Graceland is hilarious.

- Noel looking for a job by going back to college… Noel emotionally tortured Jane and needs mental health assistance and counseling… he is certainly not qualified in any way for this job.

- Meghan’s parents wants to cut her off both personally and financially, and trying to set her up with a lawyer dude even though she’s married? Nice parents.

- Elena and Felicity scene! Felicity told Elena she might be pregnant…

- Even though Meghan’s dad is awful, it’s understandable why she is concerned given Sean’s lack of career direction. They are married now, so all the more she has it right to be concerned.

- Wait… Felicity’s pregnant? No way. Listen to Elena, you need confirmation.

- Poor Ben not dropping those classes.

- Ben's reaction to Felicity in the beauty pageant is sweet, especially since he wants to watch her participate.

- When Ben said she doesn’t have to be embarrassed to tell him these things… if you only knew what she really needs to tell you, Ben…

- Wow so Noel immediately gets the job and his first student is… Ben.

- I like Sarah.

- Felicity mentioning dancing is a nod to Keri’s Mickey Mouse!

- Felicity is dancing and Noel ruins it so we only saw two seconds of Keri's talent.

- This is like a Ruby 2.0 with Noel having to face another possible pregnancy as the father.

- I’m confused over why Felicity assumes it could be Noel’s and not Ben’s though. She slept with both and I hate even typing this reality.

- Elena is smart… Noel and Felicity are making it very obvious.

- Bingo, Elena figured it out. And Noel should have just looked at Elena’s computer right then since Elena needs her computer fixed.

- These girls are so fake at the pageant.

- Felicity and Sarah are the two most attractive and grounded and it’s not close.

- Javier helping Felicity is really sweet.

- Sarah, I like her. I keep saying this.

- Oh no, Felicity answering where she would be in the next five years is not an ideal answer. She could’ve at least said, making a difference in the world, helping those in need. But I think the point was to prove she is still really lost. I think they had to come up with a reason why her looks would not allow her to win, so that answer worked. But it was also a way to show how lost Felicity really is right now.

- Sean, just stop with the insanity/inventions.

- At least Meghan was honest with Sean about her parents and their threat… unlike Felicity being honest with Ben.

- Ben missed Felicity last night. They are so cute. Adorable kiss.

- Of course Ben finds the medical clinic slip.

- Felicity should have gotten the tuition money from her parents. This pageant is so dumb.

- Have I mentioned I like Sarah? I love how they got revenge together and pranked the horrible girl.

- Noel is in Ben’s basketball space.

- Felicity and Sarah are cute. What Felicity said to Sarah about Ben... she was scared the popular boy in high school would realize who she really was… I don't want him to not want me. That’s deep psychology.

- How awkward… Ben thinks if Felicity is pregnant it’s his. At least Noel will help him with the drop/add.

- This Ben and Noel scene reminds me of why it’s so dumb they weren’t true friends throughout the series. The actors really enjoy their scenes, you can tell.

- Oh my God, why would Noel make it so obvious he knew about the pregnancy possibility? Poor Ben. Ben, if you only knew…

- I like how Ben showed up and pointedly asked Felicity if she was pregnant. Felicity not telling him, I mean, it’s just so bad because she really needs to tell him about the cheating. But I’m glad she asked him to stay and how sweet Javier was greeting his Benjamin. LOL.

- That horrible girl trying to fight with Javier is annoying.

- Sarah is from The Juilliard School. Nice. Does she know Ephram?

- Sarah has a beautiful voice.

- Wow that scene between Ben and Felicity when she walks up and stands next to him just feels really powerful.

- Best evening-wear goes to Felicity.

- Damn, Felicity didn’t get the academic excellence. That was money.

- It sucks we didn’t see Felicity dance.

- Awe Sarah won runner-up.

- Yuck, the mean girl won. Of course she did. Gross.

- Sarah finds Ben hot. Haha.

- I love Ben and Felicity. So cute how she walks over to him and their exchange. Good Felicity isn’t pregnant. Their hug is so intimate. I love them.

- Sean looked up Cholesterol. LOL.

- Is it wrong (or insane) that even if Felicity got her period if I’m her I’d still call the clinic or pick up the official result showing negative? LOL.

- The Sean and Meghan scene is adorable. I love that they are okay now. Screw Meghan’s parents.

- Felicity and Noel… oh man what can go wrong… Felicity being hired by Noel and working down the hall together.

- Well Noel, you and Felicity are only meant to be friends so asking her to take this job should never have been awkward. You guys are only meant to be friends.

- It’s weird seeing these Noel and Ben scenes accumulating… it almost feels like it’s happening to make the cheating reveal all the more dramatic and heartbreaking.

- Noel feels guilt. He should.





Felicity going through with the Sunrise Surprise Beauty Pageant


This pageant worked as far as Javier as her coach, being adorable, and showing such beautiful support. But overall, this pageant was about three things:

1. Felicity meeting an amazing woman in Sarah who got her to take out the popular mean girl and have fun doing it. Sarah is an awesome character. I liked her immediately. Can she stay? I have more of an emotional connection to Sarah than I ever did Molly, certainly Avery, and even... Julie.


2. Felicity mentioning she does not think she is good enough for Ben. That was a startling moment. Why does Felicity still feel this way? It is very interesting and certainly involved with a deep psychological process Felicity is going through right now. Did she cheat with Noel because of not feeling good enough for Ben? Did Avery and Ben immediately concentrated on her make her all the more feel this way? My guess is Avery represented a lot of girls in high school Ben DID look at while he wasn't noticing Felicity... yet. Did she tell Sarah this because she did cheat and thinks she's not good enough? Does she feel she is not good enough because she knows, like she said, Ben is going to wake up and realize who she is?

This moment was super layered and honestly there is a lot going on here. I am not sure the writers really want us to come up with a conclusion outside of showing Felicity's confusion, anxiety, guilt, and needing to get through this rough patch.

3. When Felicity could not answer the question of where she will be in the future... huge. She froze. That pretty much lost her first place. But she refused to answer this question. It was showing just how lost and confused she is over every area of her life at the moment. It was a profound scene.



Keri Russel Mickey Mouse Club


We also get to see Keri Russell show off her dance talents! Well, sort of. Mickey Mouse Club 10 is in the past, but she picks it back up for her talent portion, and while we see a short glimpse of her practicing, we never get to witness her actual performance. If we had to endure the others dancing and doing other things, we deserved seeing Keri dancing!

Sarah is a brilliant singer, though, so I was glad we got to witness her talent and it perfectly blended in with that scene between Ben and Felicity standing next to each other.



Pregnancy Scare


As if the pageant drama wasn’t tiring enough, Felicity is also dealing with the possibility that she’s pregnant… and it might be Noel’s baby. YIKES. She shares the news with Elena, who totally figures out that it might be Noel’s, because she is a smart and perceptive friend. While I like that Felicity and Elena had these moments, it blows me away that she so very easily can tell everyone else but Ben what is truly going on with her. Felicity also spills the beans to Noel, who handles it well, and at least shows how much he's grown since he was horrible to Ruby when faced with the same situation. But guess who she doesn’t tell? Her boyfriend, who finds the lab request on her desk and then decides to work out his feelings on the basketball court, where he finds Noel. Ben realizes that Noel already knows, and his sad, confused face just breaks my heart.

How much more can Ben go through? Honestly. He is getting his heart broken over and over and the sad reality is he still doesn't know she cheated... while Felicity, Noel, Javier, and Elena are the ones that know. It feels like a joke at this point.



Meghan


Meghan is wrestling with the ultimatum her parents gave her and decides she needs to kick Sean’s ass in gear and make some of his ideas into actual, successful reality. He pitches her some surprisingly good notions (I mean, for Sean), but it’s clear that nothing he can come up with will generate even a tenth of her family’s wealth, and Meghan finally tells him that she’s going to get cut off from her family and wonders if she’s making a mistake. Sean, truly shining in this moment, declares that in spite of how Meghan might feel about choosing him, he knows he’s with the right person, and ultimately she decides to stick with her husband and even calls him CUTE. They are so made for each other.

I wonder if her parents are really going to cut her off or might come around. More importantly, I hope that Sean really does get motivated by all of this and finally finds a successful business that is stable and bringing in regular money.



Noel & Job


Still looking for a job, Noel heads back to familiar territory and pays a visit to Mr. Norman, the college guidance counselor, who is the same guy that was advising Ben on his dismal chances at surviving pre-med (while eating like a pig in front of Ben). Mr. Norman, it turns out, can most definitely help Noel, because he’s retiring and needs to fill his position! He gives Noel the job, which might be the most fabricated aspect of college on this entire show. Anyway, now Noel is a college counselor! And his first order of business is to help Ben drop some classes, even though it’s past the deadline. At least he did this much for Ben considering he backstabbed him with Felicity.



More Pageant & Pregnancy Crap and Ben/Felicity


The night of the pageant arrives, and while Sarah has invited her entire family, Felicity can’t even bring herself to ask Ben. This is just such a big moment for Felicity. It is so telling. She describes him to Sarah... the most popular boy in school, you know, “that guy" and even after all of this time, Felicity feels like she doesn’t deserve him. “I’m waiting for him to realize who I really am,” she tells Sarah. “And once he does, he won’t want me anymore.” But Ben does end up coming to the pageant, less to cheer her on and more to be like, WTF, you’re pregnant? She apologizes for not telling him, and she shares the HUGE RELIEF that there is no pregnancy. Then she asks him to stay, and it’s so sweet... they are so sweet.

Honestly, this is worst than Madisongate and waiting for that bomb to explode. I feel like my head is spinning because Ben and Felicity are so damn cute and twin flames meant to be, yet I know a cheating bomb is going off soon and it sucks.

Felicity doesn’t win the pageant (though she does score a gift card for winning “Best Evening Gown”), while Sarah gets first runner up and Denise is crowned Miss Sunrise Surprise, because, the bad ones always win.



No


Felicity may have lost her shot at the scholarship, but Noel has good news: he has an Art TA position he has to fill, and he wants her to take it! Just so happens that the class is right down the hall from his office… that won’t be a problem at all!

Felicity needs to call her parents and get the money.



Sarah


I adored Sarah! See, this is how you include a new character and do it where you actually connect to and enjoy the character very quickly. Sarah is awesome. The actress is so pretty.

Why did we have to endure Avery and Molly when we have such a great character in Sarah?

Will we see her again? I doubt it, but we should because she's awesome and exists of course since she's talented and beautiful at... The Juilliard School, which cannot be that far away from Felicity.



Ben & Felicity


They were great in this episode. I love the smiles, kisses, hugs, the scene at the pageant was so profound. They are so deeply in love with each other and yet... Felicity is not being truthful about the summer. It sucks. But they are twin flames and will get through all of this horrible mess.



Ben


I am pissed off this guy is in the dark and forced to interact with Noel right now (even though thankfully the drop/add situation was taken care of) as he still doesn't know Noel is actually the enemy. Ben shouldn't be shooting hoops with him directed at the net... Ben should be nailing the basketball right at Noel's face instead.

Ben needs to find out.



Noel & Felicity


There is zero romantic feelings mutually... my God it's so obvious. They never should have slept together and only remained friends... where they work perfectly. It is so ridiculous they slept together. That scene when Noel mentions they slept together I was actually almost red in the face because it felt so embarrassing he even had to mention this since it ridiculously happened. It was so wrong and never should have happened.

She might graduate with something related to art but in the end, she will become a doctor. I believe this. Way too many signs pre-med and being a doctor is in the cards for Felicity. She is battling it right now but will see the light in the end.

She should have left the line to get to him on time, but I dont think she knew that he had to be somewhere important. Felicity's father is so annoying. Her dad likening art to "crafts" is so insulting. And the way he speaks to her like she's a little kid is just so obnoxious. Good for her telling him she didn't need him or his money and left! Family and love shouldn't come with strings or rules. I understand if he doesnt want to pay for things after college, but he should stick it through her senior year. What a jerk. THE ENDING HAS ME FUMINGGGGGGGG. FELICITY F**KED UP HARD!!!! What she was going through sucked but it was not a good enough reason imo to mess up her entire relationship. Cheating is bad enough but to do it with frickin Noel? UGH, I'm so angry about this. Despite how annoying Avery was, Ben never cheated and at least he told Felicity when he was having doubts. I am so mad at her right now.

Yes we found out in S1 Elena’s mom died. When that idiot she dated cheated with one of her childhood friends we find out how her friend was there for her during the time period of Elena losing her mom.

I didn’t understand his pre-med desire until 4.5. It finally made sense but in 4.1 it seems like it just appeared.

It did because his "life changing" experience was with being a paramedic and now suddenly its a doctor? It doesnt make sense unless they just didnt know how to follow through with it storyline wise.

As far as Felicity's art, I guess its moreso people telling Felicity shes not good enough. But a true artist wouldnt let that get to them or derail them from doing what they love. IDK if i buy she really loves it.

I personally understood why Ben was so mad at her, he missed his class because she was late and it was the first impression of an already difficult plan for him. I think he was allowed a moment to be upset. They had ONE conversation and then she goes and cheats? Like, Im sure the next time they see each other Ben will apologize almost immediately. They were both in the wrong in that situation imo. A kiss I could understand, but I dont buy that Felicity wouldn't IMMEDIATELY pull away from Noel and remember Ben. Its just bad writing imo to create forced drama. And Noel is super disappointing too, kissing someone that has a boyfriend? His apparent FRIEND. Like, doesn't he realize too he's being used for emotional comfort? Its just gross on all fronts. Ben only kissed Avery after he told Felicity he was feeling confused. Still wasn't great, but at least he was understanding of his conflicting feelings and told her about it. (the confusing feelings i mean, not the kiss)
