Yes he served from the late 60s to early 80s. He set the tone for what Canada stands for today. He abolished the death penalty and got rid of the white only immigration policy.

Good for him! Sounds like my kind of guy and how special that his son is following in his footsteps. Another parallel with JFK is the father/son angle... reminds me of JFK and JFK Junior. There was talk JFK Junior was going to go into politics and no doubt he would have won and focused in on many of the amazing things his father stood for during his time in office.

I'm glad you guys have a terrific leader in Canada, Shu. I only wish the United States had a similar one for president.

I know. I cannot believe people got so much of this on video. I have to turn off the news coverage. All I hear is constant gun shots on my screen. Awful. This entire situation is horrific. The suspect is dead (he was a local Vegas resident), there is one person of interest, who is associated with the gunman. That's what we know so far. No sure the whys either.

For one, he allowed cameras into the courtroom which turned everything into a circus, and he allowed Simpson’s defense to intimidate him into making decisions that benefitted them. He also allowed the defense to discredit the police officer on the scene, Mark Furman, by unearthing old tapes where he had used racial epithets to make it look like Furman was trying to frame O.J. due to his race. Ito also faced criticism for seeming to enjoy the press and for allowing too many sidebars, recesses, etc. Overall, the O.J. Simpson Criminal Trial was a travesty of a trial that allowed a murderer to walk free.
