I'm not sure how active Dawson/Joey fans are on the shipper thread on the Dawson's Creek board but maybe you could ask over there? Or if there is a thread that you can ask questions on, it might not hurt to ask a general question and maybe someone there knows about the fic.

^ I think I even remember these posts.
Yes, in the end there was no purpose. This series was initially built around a Dawson/Joey ending and without it, nothing made sense. The character of Pacey was essentially destroyed too and he actually received the most pathetic ending of any other character. No growth whatsoever or true happiness. The series was a complete failure which is why they could never consider a revival. |

The other day, I watched this video about the girl next door trope, and they had a clip of the Season One Scene where Joey told Dawson at the end of that Beauty Pageant that she wanted him to see her for who she was, "This is just hairspray and this is just lipstick, etc." and although it was a wonderful scene, when I look at it now, through admittedly biased eyes, Katie Holmes' acting was never really all that good, even in Season One, and it just got worse in the subsequent seasons when all the adulation she was receiving went to her head and she just played cutesy in all of her scenes.

So true, Jerry. I remember first watching that scene and liking it due to really wanting Dawson and Joey together. But I was still never strongly moved by the scene because the acting wasn’t all that great. That said, I believe Katie had more chemistry with James just like I believe Josh had more with Meredith. Katie didn’t put effort at all into her scenes with Josh. They were so sugary sweet with this overly feminine “I am the boss” sort of tone; it made me roll my eyes.
Emily and Greg on Everwood move me in such a compelling way. The energy swirling around was so strong and emotional. Katie wasn’t capable of producing that kind of energy with anyone on the screen. |

A girl he has had nothing to do with for seven years, says "I choose you" and he drops his life and moves in with Joey in NYC, in a apartment and a plasma TV Joey could not afford on her salary as an assistant editor. So I guess her boyfriend was financing their lifestyle. What fool at the drop of a hat throws away all he has worked for; for a very fickle gvirlfriend. Who knows, Joey sees Dawson win an Oscar, and decides she now loves him. Yes Pacey was made out to be a weak willed sap at the end of the series. Quote:
KW was taken by surprise when the series received a season two, and he made some good decisions and some bad ones. Maybe that is one of the reasons he and most of the writers left. They were overwhelmed. And look at season three and what a mess that was with stupid story lines that went nowhere. Eve as Jen's sister, give me a break. They wrote themselves into a corner and did not know what to do. So she just vanished. |

Williamson, before he bailed, should have told TPTB that in his mind, Dawson and Joey needed to be the on again, off again pairing BUT to keep what worked which was the Pacey/Andie relationship as the centerpiece. That is what should have happened. Pacey/Andie together long term like a Nathan/Haley, working through issues but staying together. It was the biggest mistake of the show not going there. |

My understanding is that early Season Three was such a disaster that the fans rebelled and the head writer was fired, and the Eve storyline was scrapped.
What I hated the most about Season Three was the character destruction, especially of Andie's character. They did a real disservice to her and to the actress who played her. __________________
