Oh this is so true. That is such a great point. Their relationship was one sided from the start. That was Joey's relationship only. Pacey was like a lapdog. Compare Andie with Pacey and Joey with Pacey. With Andie, Pacey cared about school, had a direction in life, felt so peaceful and happy in general. With Joey, he practically flunked out of school, he mopes around thinking of himself as a nothing, only being around to pimp Joey and make her look like a princess. He had it right during the prom explosion... he told her being around her made him feel like nothing. Hello, exactly! I have absolutely no idea what Pacey saw in Joey. What was it? She was hot and that's about all I can think of! There was nothing she personally did for him that made him grow as a person. Andie made him feel like a worthy human being. Joey not being over Dawson was as obvious as Dawson's love for making movies. That was something else Pacey put up with forever and ever.

Pacey and Joey were so wrong for each other in every way. Yes, had they evolved based on their season 1 dynamic, they could have been an even, balanced couple. But what we received instead was pure garbage. Joey's Creek it essentially turned out being, too!

I think Joey and Pacey may have worked well under one condition: if they had kept both characters IN CHARACTER. Which they obviously did not do in the slightest. The season 1 Joey/Pacey lab partner thing was actually kind of cute to me. They had some chemistry there; they had the banter and the opposites attract thing. Even in season 3, when the ship first began to develop, there were cute moments to it. But once Joey started treating Pacey like crap (which did indeed start in season 3) and Pacey started putting Joey on an undeserved pedestal (again, starting in season 3), it started going to hell. Once they actually got together, it became much, much worse too. The two both became characters I barely recognized anymore, so it barely even felt like a true Joey/Pacey pairing (the way we had come to know Joey and Pacey's characters from season 1 and 2, I mean).

When people say PJ are popular, I roll my eyes. They are NOT popular. The Internet (small % of fans) makes it seem like they are popular but they are not. The ratings tanked in season 3 and on after the smart people (I should have been one of them!) stopped watching when it became clear DJ would forever be played with and PA were ripped apart all to facilitate this ridiculously unhealthy and nonsensical PJ pairing.

It's funny because the Dawson haters don't even have legitimate reasoning for going there either... I mean, if you want to say Dawson reacted to Pacey/Joey in season 3 in a bad way, okay. But funny how they ignore what caused Dawson to feel like his world was turned upside down. Also... other than his reaction to finding out his supposed best friend and the girl he's always loved backstabbed him... what else in the series did Dawson do that supports him sucking?

While Dawson did behave badly on some occasions season three; I don't blame him. As the previous post stated, he was royally screwed over by the two people who meant the most to him. His world collapsed. After that he left them alone and moved on, except for one instance. The time he asked Joey if she slept with Pacey. That question was none of his business. If Joey was so much in love with Pacey as PJ'ers claim, she should have answered honestly, or told Dawson it was none of his business, but she lied. Maybe she lied because she knew that she was not in the romance of the century and wanted to keep her options open.[Anyway Katie Holmes played that scene perfectly]

Other than that he moved on. It was Joey who kept trying to drag him back. I wonder how the P/J'ers explain the look of total horror on Joey's face when she saw Dawson and Gretchen kissing at the Christmas party, and to top it off she is standing next to her boyfriend, the other half of the most perfect romance ever.

Looks to me Dawson moved on and Joey didn't.

This right there, he even gave her a chance to back out of it , by saying it is none of his business, and she didn't have to answer. But she CHOSE to answer him and CHOSE to lie to him.
