I am so glad Everwood ended after season 4. I certainly didn't feel that way at the time but this show is precious to me... if season 5 would have gone off track I might have needed anti-anxiety medication. I love the fact that Everwood wasn't touched by ticked off creators or a merger attempting to change the tone, etc. Thank God the show stayed in one piece and ended beautifully.
Mich, this may be one of the few times I mildly disagree with you.. To me Everwood got better every season. I know season 5 would have had some drama you may have not liked, but the show would have ended correctly and would have not had a semi rushed feeling to it.

Amy/Ephram Brite/Hannah Andy/Nina still would have wound up together.

I think that's my issue. I want to see my couples together. I find the will they/won't they a cop out and act of lazy writing.

I love the series finale of Everwood and wouldn't trade it in for anything. The ending didn't feel rushed in the least. All the appropriate things transpired that were going to transpire anyway at the conclusion of the series. Now, did we miss out on SEEING some things on the screen? Certainly. But nothing was "missed" along the way.

I didn't need to see Madison again in season 5 just to keep the series going. She had no business back on our screens. It was all for ridiculous drama about the baby. Seeing Nina possibly pregnant with Jake's baby, no thanks. Berlanti said Madison coming back for the baby and Ephram/Hannah would have been quick, like an episode or two. Still, no thanks. Plus, the VERY storyline that we missed out on some was Andy/Nina... thus, how on earth is Nina pregnant with Jake's baby ever going to not linger on? We wouldn't have seen Andy/Nina build up anyway with Nina knocked up. It would have been the ridiculous storyline that had to linger as a result. If the series would have ended after season 5 we might have gotten LESS Andy/Nina build up is the reality.

Berlanti or not, those storylines were only to cater to the CW. That's it. They were not authentic Everwood in the least.

My point above was given what happened to other shows all because they "made" the cut such as Gilmore Girls, Veronica Mars, I am glad the CW was never able to touch our show. I am the first person to admit I was devastated that the show ended after season 4. It was far too early. It has taken me years to come to the conclusion that I have. I am glad Berlanti didn't get on his hands and knees and lose the essence of the show just to transfer to the CW. It wasn't worth it. What we had was special and untouchable. I compare it to someone hanging on in a relationship just to be in a relationship because it has changed so drastically and is simply not the same. I am glad Everwood didn't have to enter the CW and hang on, losing the core essence of the show just to continue on. It didn't need that pathetic existence.

Everwood went out on its own terms with no trace of the CW haunting it. Perfect.

Anyway, back to Gilmore Girls discussion! There's plenty of actual Everwood threads we can talk about Everwood on.

Taryn... did you watch Gilmore Girls from The Pilot on or did you start watching the series at a later date?

My first episode was the one when Luke had the epiphany about Lorelai and was listening to those tapes. I then got my hands on s1, 3 and 2 on dvd (in that order). I downloaded S4 and watched it all just in time for the start of s5 which I watched live.

I didn't know you started later. I did too but still fairly early... I started watching around early season 2. I inhaled the past and present episodes once I got started. I was so addicted. Got my parents addicted with my dad nicely crushed on Lauren.

I started watching it from the Pilot, although it was on ABCFamily so I wasn't watching it "live". The live show was in hiatus between S4 and S5 when I started, so I had to avoid GG talk for a few months until I got caught up.

It's funny, my mom had tried to get me to watch GG way back when but I couldn't figure out what the show was supposed to be about. She was telling me like "There's this woman and her daughter is going to a private school, and she has to get her parents to pay for it so they have these dinners every Friday night." I was like um, ok?

I am in the middle of season 6 and I am getting more and more irritated with what is going on. Logan is in London...good! Luke needs to introduce Lorelei to his daughter...that would melt the ice between the two of them.
However...Lorelei should not be irritated with Luke hanging around with his daughter.
And......Lorelei...stay about from Chris and his daughter! Isn't that worse that Luke being with his daughter?

Your mom's awesome and actually right on in the description.

Did your hubby watch too?

Betty, I get all your frustration. Couldn't agree more!

I know, right? It's so funny now because I get it, but at the time I was like ...huh?

Yes, hubby watched. Well, the first few seasons. He bailed some time after Rory went to college, I don't remember for sure.

Totally agree, Betty!!

I wish I would have joined him. Rory, college years didn't do it for me. I mean, it was okay but I clearly watched for Lorelai, Lorelai/Rory, Luke/Lorelai and Emily and Richard. I remember frowning when a college scene entered the screen.

I just completed season 6, and I'm not happy at all!! What the heck is wrong with Luke? Why would having April prevent him from getting married?

And Lorelai? Can't you spend any time alone? Why must she keep running back to Chris.
And...why the hell would she take him to Lane's wedding? I was waiting for that to backfire by having Luke find out about it!

Horrible, right?!

I read a review the other day about the Luke has a daughter storyline and how it essentially took every precious, fun piece of LL and deflated it. The storyline brought their adorable banter to the ground with a blazing fire burning it to total destruction. LL were unrecognizable during this time period. Neither of them were behaving in a satisfactory manner.

Horribly unrecognizable!!

Lorelai gave Luke an Ultimatum.
Luke came to Lorelai's house and said that he was ready...ready to go off and get married.
Lorelai: "I slept with Christopher."

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I know. LOL

You know TPTB were trolling by having Lorelai go there again.

Seriously, they knew the vast majority of the fanbase disliked Deadbeat aka Christopher. So to have Lorelai sleep with him at this stage was trolling torture. I can't even believe it transpired. I remember watching that episode and never wanting to tune in again. Of course I did but I couldn't believe it. I was furious. We miss out on so much day to day with Luke/Lorelai married, happily bantering about daily stuff, etc. Instead, their relationship completely falls apart, and they needed to pick up the pieces.

Hattttttttttttttttted this!
