Episode #219- "Sick"
Airs Monday, April 19th at 9pm EST/8pm C

Amy (EmilyVanCamp) confides to Bright (Chris Pratt) that she may have developed feelings for Ephram (Gregory Smith), but Bright begs her to have mercy on poor Ephram, who is still nursing a broken heart from his recent break-up with Madison. Meanwhile, when Linda's (Marcia Cross) HIV status is accidentally revealed to her patients, Dr. Abbott (Tom Amandes) faces a potential malpractice suit, and Andy (Treat Williams) is forced to come clean with Ephram, who doesn't take the news very well.
Debra Mooney, John Beasley, Vivien Cardone and Stephanie Niznik also star. David Paymer directed the episode written by Michael Green.

I know all of us are dying to have Ephram and Amy back, but I mean Ephram just broke it off with Madison. Give him some time, Amy! Go Bright, for watching out for Ephram.

Only three hours and fifteen minutes to go on the East coast. This one looks really good!
I agree that Amy should slow it down with trying to date Ephram...I think it's her turn to do some waiting now.

Tonight's episode was really good. Alot more somber than last week's, if that's possible. I totally understand why Andy was upset about Linda telling Delia before he got the chance to. I think they should have done it together. Then when Delia clocked Brittany...sorry to say it, but never have I laughed so hard watching this show. Not that I condone hitting at all, but it was like I was thinking it right before she did it. Sounds like Harold wouldn't be much different about defending Linda either.
It's like there's a breakup every week...Seeing Andy cry hurt my heart. So sad He got a wake up call though, and I'm glad he's doing what's best for his family.

Thank God for Bright. If not for him, Amy would have probably embarrased herself tonight if she told Ephram about her feelings for him. I mean, hello when did Selfish!Amy decide it was time to make her comeback?
I'm a Jailbaiter so I'll gush about all my E/M thoughts over at our thread...

The previews look really good. Amy trying to ask out Ephram, without it sounding like a date...Bright and his ladies (about time!) in the "Prom-ebago" ...I'm thinking this next one should be a lighter episode, hopefully.

That was another incredible episode. I loved how Harold stood up for his sister, but Linda bowed to the sad reality of the situation, and then the choice was taken away from both of them by the Insurance Company, illustrating how vulnerable doctors are nowadays in this litigation happy country.

I loved how Bright was so protective of Ephram when Amy hinted that she had feelings for him, and I agree that it’s too early for both of them to get together, one because they both went through tough breakups, and two, Berlanti must have learned his lessons about getting couples together too soon.

I could understand Ephram’s concern about the danger that Andy might be placing himself and their family in by being romantically involved with Linda, and it was heartbreaking to see Andy break things off with her.

I loved how Delia stood up to Brittany, and I also loved seeing her hug Linda. Gee, I used the phrase “I loved” a lot, don’t I? I can’t help it, because I love this show.

- Bright going off to surf for internet porn. Classic.

- Delia pouncing on Brittany. Girl had it coming.

- Bright zeroing in on what Linda wanted from everyone.

- Harold standing up for Linda.

Dislikes:

- Ephraim whining about Madison. Enough.

- No Laynie.

Aids issue was handled well and sensitively without being too preachy.

Noticed a Zoloft ad this week. Curious that Amy did a lot better with her treatment from the corporate sponsor (Zoloft) than Mrs. Hart did with rival Paxil.

I caught the last 20 minutes. I know kinda what happened, but I have to watch it in its entirety before reviewing it. But next weeks looks good, very light and fun.

Only 3 episodes left

Hi everyone. New Everwood viewers here. I've only started watching a few episodes ago and I must say that I'm falling fast for this show.

This was such a heartbreaking ep. Poor Linda. I really like her. I love Harold sticking up for her. It's so sweet!

My fave pair to watch on this show (romantic or not) is Linda and Deliah. I just LOVE them. They have this really delicate relationship that is just so heartwarming. I LOVED it when Deliah hugged Linda.

I'm not much of a Deliah fan but I was sooo happy when she knocked out Brittany. Deliah shouldn't have told Brittany in the first place but what Brittany did was worst.

Even though I do agree that the Abbots should have disclosed Linda's condition to the town, I was shocked and appauled at the prejudice that arose. Are people really like that in real life? If so, that's just really sad. Don't ppl know that you can't get AIDS from merely talking to, or touching someone? And here I thought we weren't stuck in the 1980's.

And I'm not usually one that ships CC for tv shows, but I really like the Amy and Ephram dynamic.

Welcome, Girlfriend
Glad to see another Everwood fan. This show is awesome. I love the relationship between Linda and Deliah. And yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if my town reatced this way, they have such the close minded mentality. Its a shame.

i am a semi-new viewer, too. i started watching the show this season but i still knew what the main plotlines were from last season.

really good episode. the hiv/aids subject was handled very well. sorry to say that if a doctor in the small town i'm from had hiv, the people would freak out the same way.

the whole bright going to watch porn and "no shifting or mushing" comment made me laugh and the end with ephram saying "tell her i was being a dick!" was funny but in a sad way because of the break up. the break up was sad but it was done very well. nothing made me laugh more than when delia punched brittany. it seemed so out of the blue but i was happy for her.

Hey... cool... tonight's was almost as good as last week's. I had postulated that the remaider of the season would almost have to be anticlimactic. Looks like I was wrong! When I talk to the TV, it's either a very good sign or a very bad one. Usually the former.

Although I thought the word 'jugular' was a bit over the top, this has to be my favorite Linda episode. That nitpick not withstanding, Linda really impressed me here. I loved her explanation to Delia of how secrets can be an isolating burden... and I loved how deeply that moved Ephram. So *naturally* Ephram had to tell dad to stay with Linda... and *naturally* Andy had already decided he couldn't.

Andy and Linda never quite felt right together... not like Andy and Nina do. And yet, I think their being attracted to each other was realistic. Frankly, I'm not sure they would have lasted even if Linda was healthy, which may be my one biggest regret about her HIV status... that it made for a somewhat contrived reason for their breaking up. Still, it's a bit unusual for a show to put a couple together that are almost right for each other and yet really not... have a realistic coupling AND a realistic break-up. Usually either the pairing feels forced... because the story will be the break-up... or the break-up feels forced because the pairing seemed so right. Here, the pairing felt a smidge forced, but only a smidge. It seemed realistic at both ends and I find that satisfying.

Loved Harold again tonight. Once again there was this beautiful and comfortable rightness in knowing exactly where the storyline was gonna go. *Of course* Harold would be willing to gamble his practice for his sister's sake. And even here there was the unexpected yet fitting turn of events when Edna told Harold not to call his sister and manipulate her into coming back to the office. Mom's observation that he made a mistake... albeit for the right reasons... It kind of put me in mind of President Bartlet's censure on the West Wing. In classic tragedy, the hero's greatest asset is often also his fatal flaw. Gotta love the classics, eh?

The trailer showing scenes from next week suggests Linda may leave... or at least she will seriously consider it. No spoilers here... but based partly on that and partly on all that's happened this season, I've speculated about whether Harold might be on the verge of a physical and/or emotional breakdown. I didn't need to be psychic to predict that, if Linda were to leave, Harold was going to react strongly. Then again, I sort of expected him to react strongly when he first learned of her HIV and he surprised me a little there. But I digress. Where I'm heading is... I also predicted that a departure on her part could be another cruel blow for Harold with potential for it to drive more of a wedge between he and Andy.

Is Linda really going to leave? If so, will she stay gone?
Will Harold feel that Andy is partly to blame? If so, for how long?
Andy couldn't quite put himself in Harold's shoes regarding Amy's birth control. Will Harold be able to put himself in Andy's shoes regarding Linda? As Ephram pointed out (in another very poignant scene), Andy loves Linda... and he can't just stop doing so. Andy has managed to make a hard time for Linda even more difficult... although goodness knows he didn't want to. And he didn't dump her for some superficial reason such as the town's disapproval. He made a painful personal sacrifice for his children. The only reason it can't be said that Harold would do the exact same thing is because Harold would never have allowed the relationship to get that serious to begin with. But, if somehow he did wind up in that situation, there is nothing he wouldn't sacrifice for his kids. The commonalities could draw the men together if they'd let them... But will they?

And for a final question, again relating to my speculation of - how much can Harold take before there's a breakdown of some sort...

If Linda really leaves - How hard do you think Harry will fight (initially) to get insurance in order to maintain his practice? Even though he'll resent Linda for abandoning him, I imagine he'll also resent the town for forcing her out. If he does soldier on, perhaps because 'how could he not be primary breadwinner', will he be the same cantankerous physician he was before? Will he be more obnoxious to his patients because of his resentment? Or will his patients be perplexed because he's *less* obnoxious... a symptom of his just not caring anymore?

Waiting for the next few episodes is a delicious agony!
