Thank you all SO much for your kind words, everyone!!!
Hot Rod - Yeah, she blew me away in Sunday's episode, especially those scenes you posted gifs from. WHY hasn't she won any awards yet?! __________________

I stopped watching Revenge, because for some reason it became too much soap opera, so I can't say anything for those scenes, but I was for sure impressed by her playing in Revenge. Her acting is actually the best thing for this show. I'm sorry, but I just don't care about some plot lines and characters, but she always delivered while I was watching.
The problem is that IMO those awards usually go to to actors/actresses that play in cable shows. For some reason this is a practice the last years. There is also some prioritization when it comes to networks too. I think that FOX and CBS are on first place and it's ABC, NBC. And I guess on the lower bottom is CW. You could see this also by the rating the different networks have and the types of show they produce. So basically sometimes an actor/actress is overlooked because their show is not on top network/cable. There is also big competition. It's really hard because for example last year Claire Danes got the Emmy and IMO she deserved it. Not that Emily is bad, it's just sometimes I think that more than one actress/actor deserves this award and it's very hard to decide. Granted part of Claire Danes's award is first the fact that Homeland is a cable show and second that the critics really fancy Homeland as a show. If Emily had delivered such performance (and she is good and could deliver) in a top notch cable show she would get the award for sure. It's just so far she hasn't played in a show that has recognition from the critics which is the focal point here. __________________

For me it also is no surprise that Emily doesn't get an award. I think to receive an award or to be nominated at least, you have to be part of a "good" show that many people consider good. Revenge as good as it might be, has obvious flaws and that stops the actors getting recognition but it's also very soapy and that turns of critics. I've never heard of a nomiation for CW, but there are many young and good looking actors there who don't deserve any awards.
Shows that are very character based and on cable have a great cast, so it's not okay actor vs. great actor, it's really good vs. great and that shows. 5 actors per category is nothing if you think about how many shows are out there for every award season and topic wise Revenge can't compete with something political like Homeland or other cable stuff that doesn't have those network restrictions. We can hope that when Revenge will end and Emily is let's say 28, she has done Captain America, her profile is good enough for a cable show or better being able to chose from a list of roles. I watch Revenge more for Emily than for the show itself, after the 4 eps I saw in September/Octor, I would think Emily's the only reason. Not saying it's so bad but I got a lot of other shows to watch where I am interested in the whole cast and not just a half or even less. |

I definitely feel like if Everwood would have been on ABC, NBC or CBS, she would have won an award, especially in season 2. You would have had the entire package; on a big network the Emmy's notice along with an off the charts, high quality show.

I just watched last week's episode of Revenge. It was a terrific episode and yes...Emily was outstanding. I'm wondering which major character will be killed. The rumor is that it's

I`m still mad about the WB not properly giving Everwood the push that it deserved. It`s so frustrating that they didn`t give the show the respect it deserve, because it wasn`t the hip and cool show it usually push.
Getting back on topic, Emily delivered another great performance in Sunday`s episode of Revenge. I hope that everyone got to watch it and if y`all didn`t, then you need to watch it as soon as possible, because it was an excellent hour of television.
Spoiler:
Now comes the hiatus until March 10, which i`m dreading. I guess i`ll have to re-watch Sunday`s episode at least a couple of more times. __________________

I hear a lot of good things about Emily and can't watch it. Makes me sad a bit. But great to hear, I'll try to watch the whole thing in Summer and am trying to stay away from possible spoilers, though someone told me what happened in episode 14 but I asked him to tell me. I hope it's true and Revenge got better after the chaotic first 4 episode I saw.
Damn that hiatus, after ratings went up close to 2.0 (1.8 with #14), now we have to wait 3 weeks, it's not good. But with all the new shows getting awful ratings, Revenge is still a lock for renewal I'm sure. |
