Thanks for the new thread Michelle. :)

I have to work tomorrow. There's a guy in the shop who's basically a con artist. He'll sit on all these pumps that need to be tested all week and then he'll say that he's behind and he needs to test the pumps on the weekend, (he gets paid overtime if he works on the weekend) and then I get stuck doing the calculations for the pumps that he tests because the guy that's supposed to do the calculations basically refuses to work on the weekends and his boss won't make him do the calculations so my boss asked me if I can do them. I can do the calculations from home but it's still annoying that I get stuck having to do work on the weekends.

That profile test I took yesterday was so accurate. One of the things that it said about me is:

Quote:

Defenders take their responsibilities personally, consistently going above and beyond, doing everything they can to exceed expectations and delight others, at work and at home.
That's very true, but as a result I feel like I get taken advantage of. Oh well. :)

^ You’re welcome. :)

That’s not fair you get stuck working (if even from home) on the weekends because of that cheater! I suppose you don’t get paid extra?

Jerry, your personality type definitely can get taken advantage of.

Here is more:

ISFJs are often unappreciated, at work, home, and play. Ironically, because they prove over and over that they can be relied on for their loyalty and unstinting, high-quality work, those around them often take them for granted--even take advantage of them. Admittedly, the problem is sometimes aggravated by the ISFJs themselves; for instance, they are notoriously bad at delegating ("If you want it done right, do it yourself"). And although they're hurt by being treated like doormats, they are often unwilling to toot their own horns about their accomplishments because they feel that although they deserve more credit than they're getting, it's somehow wrong to want any sort of reward for doing work (which is supposed to be a virtue in itself). (And as low-profile Is, their actions don't call attention to themselves as with charismatic Es.) Because of all of this, ISFJs are often overworked, and as a result may suffer from psychosomatic illnesses.

Thanks for that information Michelle.

I definitely feel that I get taken advantage of at work, and I feel that my boss doesn't appreciate what I do.

I don't get paid extra for working on the weekends because I'm a salaried employee. The guy in the shop is an hourly employee so he gets paid overtime for working on the weekends. I feel that he purposely sits on things so he can work on the weekends and make extra money, then I get stuck doing the calculations for him. It's aggravating.

Thanks for the new thread!

Like I said we will see. It could end up completely bad for me making me leave (but not before tearing the team down) or we will just separate the teams.

I personally think that the HR was prepared to have a personal talk where I would basically attack the jerk and the boss on personality traits and I did not do that. I attacked them on professional level. She has no idea about technical issues so she had no way to discuss there and for the most part she had to remain silent. Plus the fact that she remained silent might mean that she can't handle the CTO and the manager the way she tries with other people.

And on top of that I already said to the manager, CTO and the HR that I had talked to my German boss about this. The manager would not be in a advantage if the Germans know such issues because then they will ask questions like "Why did you not see it" . Same for the HR.

And it was made clear that I talked both to the CTO and the German manager before my boss filed the complaint. Basically we argue Thursday 11 am. I complain 11 am straight to both people. He files a complaint the next day. And then he stays silent.

Uh yet another jerk that is boss. So sorry that you have to work on Saturday and you won't even be compensated about it.

My mother is the same way. She as at work today and she works every day 12 hours and she does not get compensated for the overtime.

I figured as much, Jerry. It's not fair to you at all. Since you're a salaried employee, and you have to work weekends sometimes, you should get some sort of extra perk such as working from home more the coming week or an extra day off here and there. It's just not fair to you. I understand your frustration.

My mom used to work sometimes 16 hours a day but that was mostly because she wanted to. She was a salaried employee too. She couldn't leave until she felt comfortable due to so many things that would come up in one day. This was when she worked in hospital administration. She complained about guys like the employee you are talking about who took advantage of the system and others suffered the consequences as a result.

Speaking of unfair and turbulent office situations... at this point it might be in your best interest to get the heck out of there. Like I said, I could never deal with this office environment for a day, let alone long term. I hope things are sorted in the best possible way for you!

Thanks  ! I have waited for this smack down for years. I will wait at least a month to see how it would unfold. After that we will see what I will do. I do not exclude the option of leaving, but I want to weigh my options and make the proper decision meaning if I leave I want to find a job with good salary etc.

Plus my boss filed the complaint hoping that this would make me leave. I won't give him the satisfaction now. Nah. I will stay enough to make him pay and then I can leave.

Like my best friend said he does not know me at all.

You do think he filed the complaint to make you leave? You believe that is the ultimate motivation?

Yes. He realized that I am too dangerous for him and now he wants me to leave and then he will play it in a way where I just could not deal with the pressure with the French. This is what he is trying to do.

Then of course there will be delay to everything related to my project and he will just say that it's my fault. I either did not do it properly or did not leave documentation or something like that. He has done the same with every other person that has left the team so I know that this is what he wants to do.

And I won't make it easy for him.

Now I might be in the wrong and maybe most people would not understand me, but right now for me this is not just about the work, it's also about my authority and integrity. He will try to discredit everything I have done and I won't allow him that.

This is why I want to stay long enough to make sure that everyone knows what's going on before making any decision.

There's so much dirt you have on him. Doesn't he realize this? Let alone the constant pattern of the jerk creating hell for current employees and even causing some to leave. I asked up thread but do you think when you took in people like M this put him over the edge? Something must have caused him to go there... although I am sure the jerk and HR are all part of this plan too.

My best friends thinks that my boss can't see the bigger picture. He does not have long term plan. Look we had discussion 11 am on Thursday. He files a complaint Friday morning. I inform the CTO and my German boss 11 am on Thursday. He makes up as it goes. He was not even prepared properly to explain his complaint. He most probably said that I should not raise my voice and that this disturbs him. At least this is all the manager mentioned and then he said that my boss was silent for the most part. On the other hand I was called back (after him and not being prepared as I did not even know about the complaint) and yet I talked one hour about everything that is going wrong in the team. And I was not talking about personal issues. I was talking about management issues in the team and the team being blocked.

I think that it was my salary raise in combination with what I did with M. The HR for sure knows my salary raise. I think that they did not handle this well at all. And the last thing is that I told him straight "Either you control the jerk or the Bulgarian CTO would be the least of your worries". He is pansy. I would laugh at such threat, he decided to defend himself by filing this complaint.

Too late dude. I had already mentioned this to two people before him :D. I am sure that the HR and the jerk advised him to go there. What he does not realize is that this made it official so there is no way keeping this under wraps. There is no going back.

Yeah, the difference between how you both handled it (he did so emotionally/superficially, you did so with pure facts and substance) is night and day.

Why would they give the salary raise if it's bothersome? I am sure he took your comment as a true threat and just exploded... Cancer Water sign... he just didn't take it great and then overreacted.
