Michelle and I talked this over and came up with these 5 suggestions for how we should post on this thread.....



1. We can post our opinions on world issues and customs and still keep in mind being sensitive about other posters' feelings.

2. We shouldn't generalize about anyone's country, nationality, religion, or race.

3. If we sense that we hit a nerve of a fellow poster and have offended him/her, the topic should be dropped.

4. If you bring up a topic, be clear about the meaning without including a hidden agenda that might be taken as an offense.

5. Finally… think before you speak... be careful with what you say, how you say it and always, always think of others before stating an opinion.

Oh yeah the potato salad is a typical one for us too. You know due to historical reasons we actually have some influence from your culture Betty since we have been part of the Ottoman empire for 5 centuries. You could feel it everywhere - from some words to the culture thing.

But yeah I forgot to mention two typical Bulgarian salads as well.

The first one is called Russian salad (no idea why , but forget the name and read the ingredients ) - it has potatoes, ham (chopped finely in cubes) and mayonnaise. You could add other vegetables.

The other one is called Snow White. It contains yogurt (really thick or strained yogurt), cucumbers chopped finely, garlic and dill.

My mother used to make such salads for my dad's birthday's celebration. I usually don't eat them because I don't eat mayonnaise and I prefer to eat just strained yogurt without the veggies, but those are salads that a lot of people eat here.

About the lemon juice - it's a just way of healthier life. Lemon juice usually is better than vinegar and it's more natural. That's why it's preferred for dressing here.

I've never had a salad with yogurt before. Is the yogurt the dressing or how does that work?

I just found a delicious Greek yogurt today. I tried a different brand and this one is good stuff. I am addicted to yogurt right now which is a good thing because it can only help my immune deficiency and GI issues.

Michelle about the salad - the yogurt is not the dressing. It's big part of the salad itself. Imagine strained yogurt with fruits - it's like fruit salad. Only instead of fruits you use cucumbers.

What on earth happened to the plane?

I am also intrigued! My son's friend is a pilot and he claims that it would be very difficult to have a plane blow up and not have some type of evidence showing up somewhere. I believe that someone wanted this plane...took it and landed somewhere else. I don't know, however, what happened to the other passengers.

It's just incredible. Do you think it's terrorist related at all?

I definitely do! And....why would there be passengers on board with stolen passports? Why would that be necessary?
