Thoughts While Watching
- Harold is talking to Ephram who is in his house on his couch and Ephram acts like he doesn't care that the father of the girl he loves understands that he impregnated a woman and he doesn't feel uncomfortable at all. Very strange. If I am in this position, I would be so uncomfortable and embarrassed seeing Harold. Ephram could not care less and even rips Andy in front of him. - Infinity necklace dangling... oh Amy, you are about to be treated like garbage by Ephram. He even looks like he cringed when she got close to him. It made me uncomfortable how he's immediately acting with Amy and he doesn't even know yet she found out two seconds before he left for NYC. - Andy with Linda, Amanda, but where is Delia? You have been ignoring her for years, Andy. - Andy, you are so jealous of Nina and Jake. Everyone in the room knows this, including Jake, it seems. - Cute that Bright got Hannah at the airport. Quote:
- Ephram is consumed, for sure, but he doesn’t even care how Amy feels about this nightmare that all could have been avoided if he would have listened to his father. It is so horrible. - Harold telling Amy that she didn’t sign up for this is so true. Amy didn't deserve this. - Nina knows Andy is jealous. - Andy is so clueless with Delia. - Poor Amy, this is not your burden, Amy. - Handle it alone, good idea, Ephram. Way to treat Amy like a pile of trash. Again, he is going there before even finding out Harold told Amy about the baby. - Andy taking things out on Delia is sickening as well. - Vivien Cardone shines in the scene with Delia breaking down, upset with Andy. - Rose looks terrible, according to Bright. Foreshadowing. - Harold/Hannah had lunch. - Bright and Hannah fight… she does have a terrible family situation. Bright is wise though. He can see what's inside her heart fairly effortlessly. - Nina and Andy talk. Nina knew Andy was troubled. They just always find a way to drink some coffee together and have a discussion. If only they would get their destined romantic relationship going already. - Wow the Ephram and Amy fight is worse than I remember. I despise Ephram in this scene so much. DESPISE: Quote:
- Harold and Amy scene is beautiful but Harold, you set Amy up without realizing it. - Then again Ephram was treating Amy like trash before he found out Amy knew. He was ready to punish Amy well before he found out she knew two seconds before NYC. - Heart breaks for Amy. - Weird how Topher knew about Hannah’s dad. Her brother doesn’t want to take the test which has to put guilt on Hannah knowing she is fine and most likely, her brother is not. - Andy and Delia scene is so cute. Andy should have focused on Delia for years now. - Ephram looks like a psychopath in the last scene telling Andy not to worry, he will be leaving soon. It feels so chilling. - Where does Ephram have all this money? He does not work. Unless he got money after Julia passed he’s paying for trips to SF and eventually Europe how? I guess Andy is supplying him money to be devious which is ridiculous. - Way to not consider your stupid mistakes, Ephram, when Andy warned and begged you to stay away from the adult woman your father hired. If I am Ephram, I would feel ashamed given all my mistakes in the past and immediately tell my parents how sorry I was for thinking I knew better since I should have listened to them in the first place. - Ephram's worst episode, by far. Thoughts After Watching Ephram: Ephram's world has been turned upside down in a huge way, but he looked psycho during his treatment of both Amy and Andy. Truth be told, he was treating Amy like trash well before he found out she knew about the illegal creation two seconds before he left for NYC. They were headed for a break up well before he found out, you could tell. He even cringed when she kissed him and got near him a few times too, which is so disgusting on his part. What did she do, Ephram? It is unreal how horrible he is to Amy in this episode. Sure, most guys would literally be jumping for joy that the responsibility of conceiving a child, and dealing with the reality was taken care of but not Ephram. Okay, it makes sense. But what troubles me is his inability to conjure up any rational thinking right now... even a shred. Or energetically still exhibit light instead of darkness around those who are affected by your terrible mistakes. He cannot go there. I don't doubt that his huge dream for a career in piano was never ultimately about desperately needing Juilliard, but what bothers me is how he didn't even give Amy so much as an ounce of appreciation for putting in the work to get him another audition. What also bothers me is how he is allowing Amy to fly away, his true love, who has been fully committed, loyal, and completely in love with him in an obvious way ever since that mountain scene at the end of S2 when they declared that they wanted to be together... she has been all in, 100%, putting piano first at times, just for him. The way that he treated Amy in this episode does not allow me to sympathize with him one bit. Amy is the best thing that has ever happened to him and he doesn't even care. I understand he's still shocked and in pain. Fine, but your anger should be directed at Madison and Andy, not Amy, who did nothing wrong but remain loyal to you throughout many of your ridiculous, immature, mistakes the past year. Ephram's treatment of Amy was sickening. She gave up one full year to make sure he got through that audition, Ephram, and you don't even care. The "father unknown" bit must have stung but it didn’t give you the right to treat Amy like garbage. Hey Ephram, so Amy "betrayed" you by trying to protect your future. Well let me ask you a question: When it comes out that you sent in Amy's Princeton application (and forged her essay), isn't your excuse going to be that you were trying to protect her future? Going off on Amy, the one person who continues to be there for you is vile. You didn't even bother to ask her how she was feeling over you impregnating an adult babysitter, who, at times, acted like your babysitter, because you are a minor boy and she is an adult woman which is disgusting. Amy, the one person who always supported, always wanted what was best for you, who loves you does not deserve to be treated like trash... and as mentioned, given the Princeton application it makes Ephram even more of a hypocrite. Have fun really regretting what you're doing right now, Ephram. When you told Amy to get out it might not have been abusive, but it was reaching that border of out of line mistreatment. Amy told him very clearly, reminding him that she was going to tell him something before NYC, she was going to tell him soon, it was like he disregarded all of this. Truth is, like I said, he was ready to dump her the second we viewed him on the couch of the Abbott's. He was already thinking about not wanting Amy near him. What a horrible mistake you are making, Ephram. Watching this episode makes me even more pissed Amy was the one apologizing in the series finale and not Ephram, who should have been on his hands and knees thankful that Amy could even forgive him, let alone take him back. Bright/Hannah: Bright obviously likes her more than a friend. And we know how Hannah feels, we have for a long time. Bright reaching over her in the kitchen was adorable and you know Hannah felt it. Hannah's fourth grade diary has to be Rina-related. Especially when Bright commented on how good her spelling and writing was... that was Rina. Bright can be a sage, and in this one he was as well while reading her inner most thoughts when she was just a kid and digesting everything. Their conversation about why God spared her from not getting the disease and basically her dad almost dying was significant. So sad that Hannah's brother statistically probably has the gene. The God quest though seemed to fall a little flat compared to the other horrible stuff going on in the episode. Bright really is a better guy around Hannah and I appreciate this. I just wish it would have lasted. Jake/Nina/Andy/Delia: Major awkwardness of Andy wanting Nina and Jake to paint Delia's room. Pure jealousy. Ever since Jake told Andy about Nina's feelings for him he's been different, even around stupid Amanda in the past. You can see it so clearly. I loved that Delia is stepping up and saying something about Andy's parenting. Funny how Ephram wants a new father yet Delia cannot seem to find the time to get in one activity with Andy and it just be the two of them. I like the new father rule though, very effective. I honestly think the show was keeping heavier interaction between Andy and Delia from happening until later on but the problem is they ran out of time when S5 never happened. Episodes like this one showcase how it was in the works and yet, should have happened long before time ran out. Delia went with the flow of things for so long that Andy was just used to Delia being okay with everything. Well not anymore! Delia... you rock! Robin's Egg Blue! Andy/Nina: Nina gives more advice. Nina owning the room and Andy's brain once again. Nina called Andy on his ways. He's fighting with everyone else, trying to make everything right because he can't begin to make things right with Ephram. I also think she understands Andy was exhibiting jealousy at the thought of her romantic relationship turning serious with Jake. Amy/Ephram: I loved Amy's conversation with the music dude calling him an ass-face... pure gold. I love Amy and her strength! Ephram is a self absorbed prick, even now, yes, even now. He's so stubborn that he's willing to let go of the one gift that he's been given. But it all came literally crashing down when Amy, unaware, spilled that she knew. It was not her fault, Ephram, you tool. Princeton. Princeton. Amy giving up a year for you and your pounding on a keyboard, and how stupid you were after your first NYC return when you were crying over how you performed during the summer program, and the Madison band lie... but you go there now treating Amy like dirt? Ephram chucking Amy is so vile and sickening. Has he bothered to understand what Amy Abbott looks like, both inside and out? Right on, dude, like you would ever find better. You are an idiot, completely ridiculous given the Princeton situation and everything Amy has done for you. You never even bothered to ask her how she felt about what you and Madison did together illegally. GROSS. Go to hell, Ephram, and I hate to say it, but you deserve what happens next. You are damn lucky Amy didn't move on with someone much more handsome, intellectual, mature, and kind. Damn lucky, dude. How he tells Amy to get out of his space/studio (that his father bought for him) I really felt a chill. He wasn't abusive but pretty close, especially given how he talked to Amy. He talked to her like she was beneath him and was pure trash. I honestly think I dislike him more in this episode than the one to come when he says he never saw a forever for them. This one is bad because Ephram sounds like an unfeeling psychopath. When are you going to tell Amy about the Princeton Essay, Ephram? Hannah/Topher: Topher is sweet but just not for Hannah. Topher seems like just a kid, even compared to Bright. But props to her for asking Topher out on a date after saying she's not brave. Topher does have a cute crush on her, it's just weird how he knew about her dad actively dying and they never really discussed further. They just feel "off" but this, for right now, is what she needed... to try and move on with her life and take some chances and risks. Harold/Amy: Harold's concern was very appropriate and I love how he told Amy she didn’t sign up for this and it’s not her burden to carry. I think he knew it was coming, Ephram’s mistreatment and he tried to save her pain. I liked the moment Harold and Amy had in the car. Tom and Emily were sparkling. Delia/Andy: I find it sweet that Delia did forgive Andy and went into IM-land and explained to him who liked who and told Andy he could use emojis. Delia is Julia. You would hope that Andy would realize this about his daughter and that he never should have been ignoring her. Delia is a gem and Andy should have stopped focusing so much on his immature, at times, troubled, son. Delia is just as important and in my mind, at this point, way more worth investing time and effort with. Delia would never screw up like Ephram, that is for sure. She has way too much sense and sensitivity to behave inappropriately and treat others like they are trash. Imagine Delia getting pregnant in the future? It would never happen. She has far too much sense, maturity and intelligence even at her young age. She is way more mature than Ephram. I found this episode to be very difficult to rewatch. It left me feeling angry. I feel relieved that it is over. Last edited by jediwands; 06-11-2022 at 04:32 AM |

I’m still frustrated that Andy did not ask Ephram why he didn’t listen to him from day 1. Andy should have played that card. He should have asked Ephram to listen to him for two seconds, even way across the room then proceeded to ask him if he remembers how the Madison story happened from the start and who was against it. Who begged him not to go there. Who could have and should have put his foot permanently down and demanded that he never go there with Madison. Then Andy should have asked him if he remembers his reaction. His immature reaction practically throwing a little boy temper tantrum. If he threw a little boy temper tantrum then why on earth would he believe he shouldn’t have had a natural instinct to protect that immaturity while finding out the worst possible situation resulted in the illegal relationship when Madison got pregnant. In what way throughout everything did Ephram give Andy even a shred of an idea that just because Ephram got Madison pregnant meant he was suddenly mature enough to handle a baby? What did Ephram do throughout that made Andy believe he shouldn’t try to protect his kid after finding out he created another kid? Then while Andy was on a role he could explain Harold witnessed his relationship with Amy at the beginning of the year and highly suggested to Andy that what they had together was real and pure and to please not shatter it by dropping the bomb about Madison. He wanted to protect Amy and Ephram and Amy.
Thus, Andy (and Harold) were only looking out for Ephram and Amy throughout and how on earth can he pull the psychopathic-like demeanor right now as a result? I would bet Ephram would have seen some light after that discussion. |

But...with the mood that Ephram was in and his entitled frame of mind this would have backfired even more! Ephram was so abscessed with his own outrage that he would not allow anyone to give him any blame. In Ephram's mind everyone was wrong. Everyone wronged him. Ephram didn't care what anyone's motivation was...he was not listening. He lost all reason and believed that he was a victim. It was all about Ephram. |
