I really think it was a blessing in disguise. I would imagine if S5 happened and stupid Madison returned, even for a few episodes, it would have delayed an Ephram and Amy reunion until at the earliest, mid-season; if not, the end of the season. It would have been rinse and repeat because we had to endure them apart working back to a romantic reunion throughout all of S4.

Berlanti mentioned he was shocked the fans hated both Amanda and Madison in different interviews. I will never understand how he can believe this and he wasn't joking either.

On the 3.16 episode discussion (I am always looking ahead, lol) I posted this:

Two things pop into mind

A. Go get antibiotics and throat losengers
B. Spray Lysol alot of Lysol

Because we need some kissing and loving

You know who she is, right, Jerry?

It was Fraz who reported why there was lack of Ephram and Amy intimacy and it was due to the health of the actors. I have been mentioning this throughout the years but forgot the source. It was Fraz.

Fraz was my first co-moderator when I initially became the Everwood board moderator soon after this board opened, and then she left for Fanbolt a few months later and The Maria became my co-moderator.

The first two moderators of this board were Fraz and someone named Julie Darling and then Julie Darling left and Chazman, who was an Administrator at the time, asked me if I wanted to moderate the Everwood board, and I happily said yes, and he appointed me back in 2002. I moderated this board for about a year until I became the Site Administrator and them someone named Wilpen took my place. I don't know what ever became of her!

She seemed nice, but I really didn't know her all that well. She didn't moderate this board for very long, and then she left and I took her place. I moderated with Fraz for a few months but then she left for Fanbolt and The Maria took her place. The Maria was an okay moderator but she couldn't compare to you or Betty.

Why did Fraz leave for Fanbolt? Is that site even running in the present?

I'm not really sure why she went to Fanbolt. I think that Fanbolt was sort of the place to go for spoilers back then, and since Fraz specialized in spoilers, I guess going there seemed to be the right move for her. I never posted there or registered there. I just checked and it still exists now, but it only has forums for currently running shows, and they're pretty much dead, as it doesn't look like anyone has posted on many of them for over a year. https://www.fanbolt.com/

Thanks! Yes, that is precisely why I went to Fanbolt back in the day... spoilers. I only went to one spoiler thread for Everwood which was on a separate board from the general Everwood board. I lurked a bit on the general Everwood board from time to time and couldn't believe seeing a pretty active Ephram and Madison thread even if the Ephram and Amy thread was more active. The spoilers board/EW thread was all anti-Madison posters minus one Ephram and Madison fan who actually hated how Madisongate exploded.

It mystifies me that anyone could like Ephram and Madison.

I will never understand it either. Berlanti stated numerous times it was an illegal relationship via the characters. Madison, herself (and others) reminded the audience multiple times. I guess it’s up to people whether or not they care about the legality aspect. However, what I don’t understand is how anyone could think that she was beneficial in any way to helping Ephram grow as a teen boy. She wasn’t. He was in misery the entire time they were together. From a general series perspective, she almost ruined an otherwise flawless series because she refused to go away. Her return in S5, for all we know might have truly destroyed many parts of this series.

So yes, how anyone could like Madison, especially paired with Ephram, I will never understand.

It didn't end because one of them woke up and accepted the moral implications of what they were doing; it ended out of guilt, plain and simple. Amanda knew that Charlie's acceptance of her affair would vanish the moment he saw his father. So, she realized what she had to do. Andy, you're still an idiot, and you have no idea what nightmare is coming your way.
That is most definitely the reason Amanda ended the affair, but I am so glad that something finally ended this affair and I believe this time it will stick!
I was wondering, though, that if Amanda is staying in Oregon...what's going to happen to Charlie? Is she just going to uproot him from his home in Everwood?

Amy

I still can’t get over how much she has been through. Colin passing, falling in love with Ephram, severe situational depression, and she has become so mature and endearing. The way she handled the bombshell… the old Amy would have freaked out. Amy took the news with no self-pity; it wasn't all about her; her tears were for herself and Ephram and their future, not just herself; there was justifiable angst, but not anger; no screaming at her Dad for not telling her earlier. Her struggles to maintain a happy face for Ephram were mesmerizing, and as genuine a gesture of love as you could ever want to see. And, while carrying inside this dreadful news, she was still there for Hannah, too. Mature Amy. I loved her when she was rough around the edges and a typical teen girl. I love her even more now. She had every right even mildly to make this about her but she didn’t go there. I find it incredible. As we understand, she still never makes it about her and how she’s feeling knowing the love of her life has a child out there with an adult babysitter. Amy is amazing and the love she has for Ephram can be demonstrated in this episode to perfection. Selfless love regarding the pregnancy and selfless love making sure Ephram gets through the audition because she’s only thinking of him.
I was thinking the same thing when Harold told Amy the news. Her usual response would have been blowing her top at her dad for keeping that news from her. What a lot for her to take in! And yes...she has started to say something to Ephram....to tell him about the pregnancy...but realized what this news would do to him. Amy is so in love with Ephram and was only thinking of him.

Harold

They really showed how torn Harold had been about keeping his knowledge from Amy for so long. Now, if he can get by telling Rose. I only wish Harold would show some of these traits in his treatment of Bright. Now a strong case can be made Harold had no business telling Amy when he did. In fact, while it's clear the conversation and what Amy was saying about Hannah made him receive an internal flash of intuition encouraging him to go there, the timing of telling Amy can be hotly debated. Again, it is understandable why Harold felt the need to go there given his daughter's words, but at the same time, Amy was put in such an uncomfortable position given the timing and what she was expected or not expected to do with this information.
I understood why Harold felt the need to tell Amy, but like you...wish he hadn't. What could Amy possibly do with that information?

Bright and Rose/Bright

I did feel bad for Bright, and maybe the slap was a bit too much, but that was a wake-up call he might have needed. However, I loved that Rose accepted responsibility for falling for his charm and personality all of these years and not teaching him the proper way to treat women and everything else for that matter. I loved that she took responsibility for this. Yes, it was a joint failure by both Rose and Harold but Rose took accountability for being soft with him and Bright has demonstrated plenty of times even playing his mother as a result since he understands this reality.
I really didn't blame Rose for slapping Bright. She believed that she was raising a fine son...a gentleman. Bright's action history with women and the way that he was defending himself was so devastating to her.

Quote:
All that said, the sexual harassment allegations were a bit over the top as she was clearly upset over how he treated her after they had sex.
I kind of felt that way myself. I didn't consider this sexual harassment. The relationship/sex sounded mutual and the fact that Bright didn't call Jillian back was lousy behavior and hurtful doesn't warrant getting him fired

1. Irv hasn't been around in such a long time. Thanks, Amanda.
I'm not crazy about Amanda, but don't really miss Irv.

3. I appreciate that Ephram and Amy received a lot of attention in this one because I’m convinced it was to tell the audience not to worry, they are making it to the finish line.
With alot of stumbling along the way!

6. I thought it was incredibly contrived that Amy wanted Madison invited to Ephram's party. Let's be clear... they are your ex for a reason. Amy is not required to be fine with an adult woman who was with Ephram (and ended up getting pregnant which is all kinds of breaking the law). Especially due to the Madison band lie, it was especially ridiculous we had to see Amy acting like it was her job to be okay with Ephram and Madison being friends. No. Never.
I agree. It was ridiculous that Amy even considered inviting Madison! How awkward that would have been even without the pregnancy.
Quote:
7. I also thought it was a bit too much poking fun at Ephram not having many friends. He is just fine in the friend and family department. Will couldn't attend, Jake, Nina and Sam were out of town, Irv has vanished, Edna had her bike, Wendell could have been invited if he wasn't dismissed by the writers. Ephram is best friends with Bright, good friends with Hannah, Amy is the love of his life, and they were all there for him, not to mention all of his family. He wasn't a loner, it was bizarre how they were commenting on this. Amy and Bright pretty much despise all of their "popular" friends now and only hang with Ephram and Hannah.
I felt the same way! Poor Ephram. It's his choice to have the friends that he has. Why invite these random people?

You are absolutely right! Andy should tell Ephram. Then Ephram can tell Amy. The outcome of Ephram finding out about the pregnancy was disastrous because he realized that he was the last to know! Ephram was especially livid when he found out that Amy knew as well. Instead of thinking about it and understanding Amy motivation for not telling him before the audition...he lashed out at her in a fury!

I was honestly annoyed at Amy here. Harold did not deserve Amy's anger. He was giving Hannah good advice while Amy just wanted her to do it without really thinking about it.

I think that the reason they had Amy want to invite Madison to Ephram's party was one, to create a scenario where Harold would tell her about Madison's pregnancy (which I still feel that he never should have done) and two to show that she no longer felt insecure about Madison and she had truly forgiven Ephram for going behind her back to see Madison's band with Bright. Unfortunately, though, Harold's telling Amy before Ephram knew about Madison's pregnancy was the worst thing that he could have done, because Ephram lashed out at her and broke up with her when he realized that she knew about Madison's pregnancy before he did.
