:wiggle:: miamaestro As the US is becoming overwhelmed with new Covid cases, leadership at federal level is embarrassingly failing at every step, the country divided because of lack of empathy, because of the denial of basic science and math, I hang on to the things I look forward to when we’ll get a responsible grip on this health emergency.
Simple things as being around a fire, playing music amongst friends, in nature, united by conservation, a much bigger cause than the sum of ourselves.
Really missing today being on expedition, in the wild and listening to Comet’s hippo drum @intotheokavango

It is hard to describe only with words how comforting are those gatherings around the campfire, the team together as one, after a hard tiring day, poling and puling the mokoros full of gear under the excruciating hot African sun, overcoming dangerous encounters with wildlife, and then getting together before dinner, playing music and singing along or just clapping hands.
Nature conservation goes hand in hand with the conservation of our own souls, healthy state of mind and what better way to keep it up that way than with what you see in this minute long video. A minute of expedition life and a lifetime of emotions.

Featured, in order of appearance: Tom, Steve Boyes(@drsteveboyes), Kyle Gordon (@kyle_n_gordon), Chris Boyes (@christurtleboyes), Luke Manson (@lukemanson), Comet, Tom (again, playing the seworoworo), Shnaps, Judge, Sandesh Kadur (@sandesh_kadur), G.B. Anand Varma (@anandavarma), Carmen Ferreira (@rocksoon_), Water, Kaelo Makati (@kaelomakati), Mia Maestro (@miamaestro), Goetz Neef (@goetzneef), Steve Boyes and Comet on the drum - among many more behind the lens.

So sad to read this morning that about 350 elephants in that region have apparently died:( and that the cause is still unknown even after 3 months... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-53273361

Violent Delights 07-05-2020 06:12 AM

Oh no, that’s terrible! there doesn’t seem like there’s enough of them left to lose so many. :sigh:
