What's up today?
I'm doing as little as possible for the weekend because i know that i'm going to have to start studying for my exams on monday

I'll probably just be posting here a lot to try and max our posts for this week  :D

Big Head want Dolly 04-12-2008 09:44 AM

I guess we are all exhausted after our posting marathon:lmao:
Well at least I am:lol: I couldn't see straight this morning:rotfl: and don't get me started on my back:lol:

BepperGirl 04-12-2008 09:47 AM

I watched a couple episodes of Buffy earlier today. I'm *still* on my first watch so no spoilers beyond 5x13 Blood Ties, please :flowers:

I really should start writing this paper due in a few weeks.

BepperGirl 04-12-2008 09:53 AM

Exactly, Dave. It doesn't help that this is the ONLY paper I have to write this semester. Ahh the perks of being a CIS major minoring in math and film studies. The paper is for the film studies class I'm taking this semester. Has to be six to eight pages. So not used to that, but I might be able to wing it. My essays for the tests in the class have been A- material on average.

BepperGirl 04-12-2008 10:08 AM

Yeah, especially since I thought I did a horrible job for the second examples in my two essays for the latest test. I was really strong for the first examples in the two essays, but the second? Definitely not my best work. Really felt like I was stretching it.

...Of course he could be grading it based on the fact that it was timed (an hour and a half to do 2 essays in the tests) and thus we didn't have "forever" to polish it up.

Violent Delights 04-12-2008 10:11 AM

God!, not just an essay, but a timed essay? hell on earth if you ask me  I'm glad that i don't have to write any essays for IT  :D

BepperGirl 04-12-2008 10:17 AM

Yeah, it's only the film studies minor where I have to write. I'm a film and tv junkie, so hoping to do something with computers in the film industry careerwise. Maybe something with a video production company or whatever.

Also, I should note that the hour and half is with my extended time. My classmates get an hour. Plus, he gives us the topics about a week in advance so we can prep. Like he gives us a sheet with four possible questions and the actual test has three of those four questions (meaning he eliminates one) and then we have to answer two of those (so we eliminate another one). Plus you have to talk about like at least 2/3 of the films you watched in the unit (the first unit had 4 films, the second had 6) so you can't always talk about the same movies. LOL.

Violent Delights 04-12-2008 10:21 AM

It seems interesting at least  do you get to watch any good films?.

Our exams are set out like that  They give us about 5 questions and we have to answer 3 of them. Hopefully we'll get an idea of what is going to be on the test in our last lecture next week :)

Here's a list of what was on the syllabus, making adjustments to it from what I know 'cause there have been some changes. LOL.

Edison Kinetoscope Films (1894-1896): The Kiss & Serpentine Dances
Actualities: San Francisco, Aftermath of an Earthquake
Broken Blossoms - SO DEPRESSING
Metropolis - I was so excited to see this movie!
October: Ten Days that Shook the World - boring to me
Madchen in Uniform - one of the first movies to show lesbian themes, unfortunately Nazi cinema so we only saw clips
Triumph of the Will - Nazi cinema, clips again
Jud Süss - Nazi cinema, clips again
Adam’s Rib - what my paper is going to be on (it can be on any movie from this semester, I just chose this one)
Rashomon - very interesting! Four POVs of the same event
Touch of Evil - sad now that Charlton Heston has passed away
Aparajito ("The Vanquished") clips
Monsoon Wedding - very riveting!
8½ - this is the most recent film we watched
The Conversation
Central Station

So for the most part, we've gone in a chronological progression. Which makes sense given that the course is called History of Cinema...

Hopefully we'll get an idea of what is going to be on the test in our last lecture next week :)
Hopefully, yes.. I was talking with my friend Moonie on Windows Live Messenger earlier and she's had a professor forget to do that.

BepperGirl 04-12-2008 10:46 AM

I don't think Lena was in Amelie.. she was in another French film, Chocolat though :)

And haha, I figured if you had heard of at least one, it would be that one :D

And she said no. So had to figure out for herself. She's got this professor again this semester so *fingers crossed it won't happen again*

BepperGirl 04-12-2008 10:58 AM

Yep hehe.

Hopefully she will..

Violent Delights 04-12-2008 12:38 PM

We seemed to get off-topic in the post count thread :lmao: <---

I'mm off to get some food but i'll be back later if anyone is interested in continuing the posting :D

BepperGirl 04-12-2008 12:46 PM

Alright, Dave... I should use this "break" to retype my answers to these questions I lost when my computer suddenly shut down with no warning. Lame.

Violent Delights 04-12-2008 02:43 PM

Mine's never done that yet, but it has corrupted some of my files when i've tried to save them, so now i have about 3 copies of everything

Yellow Mustang Girl 04-12-2008 07:16 PM
