My username here and on LJ has to do with a game my dad and I play called Before or After. One person thinks of a word and the other has to guess the word with the initial knowledge of how many letters are in the word. For example: if person A is thinking of day, they would tell person B they are thinking of a 3-letter word. Then person B could say mat and person A would say before because day is before mat alphabetically. Then person B could say bat and person A would say after because day is after bat alphabetically.
Anyway, through this process, you narrow down the possible words it could be so you can eventually guess the correct one. You're supposed to use real words only, but sometimes your mind draws a blank so you make up a word.
A few Thanksgivings ago (2004), my sister thought of the word benign so she told me it had six letters. At one stage, I did in fact make up a word. That made up word was bepper. Eventually I got the word though and I was like "ooh, good word, sister! Let's see if Dad can get it!"
So we did. For some reason, my dad ALSO made up bepper! It was hilarious. Ever since then, I've registered to boards with BepperGirl because of the game and the fact I'm a girl. You may notice that I registered to lj and :ff: before Thanksgiving 2004? How observant of you. My original lj name was thepatriotprez (because I was the "president" of the Patriots here on :ff:, which were fans of Gregory Smith aka Ephram Brown on Everwood), but I changed it at some stage. My original :ff: name was rory_parker because I was obsessed with Rory Gilmore from Gilmore Girls and Liz Parker from Roswell when I signed up. Then for a while, it was Hard-Core GG Fan because Gilmore Girls was my primary fandom. (This was changed back when users could change their own username.) But when I became the moderator of the Everwood board in spring 2005, I didn't think it was right that I was promoting another fandom in my username, so I asked JerryD if I could have it changed to BepperGirl.
And there you have that long sordid tale of how I came to be who I came to be on the Internet :)
