Lauren, I'm great. I had a really busy day with school and homework and stuff but I got my German exam back today and that really made my day. I had 13 out of 15 points (I usually never get more than 6 in my German class). That was really great. And the fact that it's already Wednesday makes everything even better. I can't wait for the weekend and I can't wait for next week, cause I'll go to Vienna from Monday to Saturday as a school trip and I'm so excited!
Carol, happy Halloween to you too |

Did y'all have a good Halloween? Mine was good
I had to work that day, but I went to work dressed in my "goth" costume Then, that night, I went to my friend's house to help her prepare some gifts for a conference at work this weekend. I tried to talk her into going to this local cosutme contest/dance, but she didn't want to go However, I did go with another friend. It was fun, but I'm getting too old for this staying up late stuff __________________

Your Halloween sounds cool.
We don't celebrate Halloween over here. We have Reformation day on October 31 which is a holiday in some parts of the country and we have All Saints' Day on November 1 which is also a holiday in some parts of Germany (and I have neither one of them... I always have to go to school). Halloween is getting popular though. My brother went trick or treating with some friends last night. But usually it isn't common cause it's more of an American custom. |

Carol: Glad you had fun, who won the contest?
Isi: Do you like that Halloween isn't as popular over there? Halloween was pretty boring for me. I spent most of my time chasing after my black cat. He ran out when I opened the door, and we were worried since it was Halloween that he might get into some trouble. Luckily we found him |

Hey everyone
How are you? I just had two days off As Isi already explained its different holidays in different parts of Germany--so I had a day off of university and then I went home to my parents and had another day off (too bad my internet didn't work) I´m not really a fan of Halloween though.... Oh and our movie night was really fun The argument lasted for about 30 minutes this time and we ended up watching Bad Santa (again we already watched that in the middle of summer) and Lives of others. OK I´m off now--I still have to go to the library and do some studying See ya __________________

Lauren: Actually yeah, I like that fact. It's a bit annoying to have kids ringing at your door for candy. I know that kind of tradition though from New Year's Eve. We used to dress up and go around for candy on New Year's Eve. We had to sing or recite a poem (usually about christmas time or Jesus) and then we'd get candy. It's sorta like Halloween.
It's a custom mostly known in northern germany. And it's not just the kids who do this. Adults also go around and then usually get liquor. |

Lauren, it's on New Year's Eve, but it's not a common tradition like trick or treating on Halloween. It doesn't even have a real German name (I just know ir in Low German, but I can't translate it...) because it'a only common in the north of Germany.
This weekend I'll have another driving lesson and then I'll have to pack my stuff for Vienna |

Hey Andie
I'll go to Vienna on Monday. It's a school trip and I'll be home again Saturday evening. The driving lessons are okay. I had to switch my teachers because the one who drove with me during my holidays doesn't have time when I have time. And yeah, now my driving sucks again. I love driving but when I have to drive in the city I suck. But apart from that it's really fun. |

Isi Sounds great! I went to Vienna this year for four days and loved it. It's such a pretty quaint city, you'll love it. What do you plan on seeing?
