Episodes Discussions #623 & 624 - " The Season 6 Final Episodes "

Episode #623 - "All Good Things..."

Episode #624 - "...Must Come To An End"

A joyous reunion turns to heartbreak at the creek - Five years have passed and everyone is reunited in Capeside for a special wedding, but the happy reunion is cut short after the group learns that one of their own has been harboring a heartbreaking secret.
Since they were last together, Dawson has been living in Los Angeles producing his autobiographical television series ‘The Creek, but has never forgotten the love of his life; Joey is a successful book editor living in New York with her boyfriend but comes home to realize she still loves her childhood sweethearts; Pacey is the owner of the new Ice House and still carries a torch for Joey, although he continues his pattern of getting into trouble with older women, including his newest conquest; Jen is a single mom living with Grams and managing an art gallery in Soho; and Jack is a teacher at Capeside High and has fallen in love with a secretly gay man.

The first hour was directed James Whitmore, Jr. and written by series creator Kevin Williamson & Maggie Friedman (#623).

The second hour was directed by Greg Prange and written by series creator Kevin Williamson & Maggie Friedman (#624).

The final episode, I have mixed feelings about the entire episode but overall, I enjoyed the ending. I cry like a baby when ever I watch Michelle's scenes, she is so wonderful in this ep The ending was sweet and I love the montage at the end, i know its on the extended dvd, i don't know whether they kept that in or not

yes, the finale was so cute, but I'm not sure how I felt about all of it, I don't know why Jen had to die just so Joey could make up her mind It just broke my heart that the show never let Jen redeem herself for the choices she made at age 13, and her speech to Amy was just so sad

I have the extended dvd

I love how the group gets togetter, share old stories from the past
Poor Jen was off the face (drunk)
I didn't like how Pacey with fooling around with a married women, that wasn't Pacey that I know....you know?
I love how Jack became a teacher at his old high school, I didn't think he would be ending up as a teacher
I didn't like the hospital scenes, it was too sad but I did love how Pacey put on the video for Jen, the good old times with the group
Jen's speech video or dvd was so beautiful and so unfair that she had to died
I'm glad that Jack got to be her godfather, Jen trusted him alot.

On the extended dvd, I love how Andie and Pacey had their scenes togetter, it was sweet.

I know exactly what you mean about that not being Pacey--remember how upset he got that his boss at the restaurant was cheating on his wife, there's no way he would do that

It was so great to see the whole group together again, that's one thing I missed in the last 2 seasons

I agree about Pacey, it didn't seem like him at all. I can understand being in a fling, but a married woman was a bit too much. Ah well.

I did feel bad for Jen, but she did get the dominant storyline here, something that she never got before. MW got to act her pants off and bring everyone to tears. It was bittersweet, just like DC. KS also got to make everyone cry, and the hospital scenes (along with Grams) are so sweet.

Though I was big on the triangle because I'm a huge shipper, I'm glad they downplayed the whole thing (at least I think they did). They let Jen's storyline inspire everyone else. That's why I don't think she died just so Joey would "make a choice" to stop running from Pacey, but it was a powerful way to affect everyone to change their ways for the better -- not just Joey.

So besides the very sad death of Jen, I did enjoy seeing everyone together one last time.

The triangle in particular was in need of this, and we finally got to see everyone good friends again, regardless of who their love interests are. So the last phone call was especially well done.

Oh, and I LOVE the final montage.

I agree Barb, i think Jen's death left an impression on them all and not just for Joey to make a choice, i think it changed all the characters

Exactly. The purpose was to set them all up at the beginning, still hung up on their old problems, so that by the end, they would overcome them. They realized with her passing, life was too short to keep with their old ways, and -- in the end -- they all ended up happy. And Jen was the one to help them all.

Well, I thought Michelle Williams finally got the spotlight she deserved. That girl has monster talent and was great with all of her scenes. I mean, waterworks city and emotions galore when she and Jack finally had "The Talk" and he tell's her that she is his soulmate. That was great IMHO, cause I do think that it described the term greatly. It dosen't necessarily mean someone you are meant to spend the rest of your life with as a partner, but more of a bond between people that is, as Joey described, pure and innocent. Jack and Jen had such a great bond. They could share with one another, that noone could touch and yes, even though I am a HUGE P/Jer and always have been I think of that term when it comes to Dawson and Joey and Pacey. They are eachother's soulmates. Three childhood friends, that endured a lifetime of argument's, up's down's, love, teasing, angst, romance, selfiishness, stubborness, and heartbreak. I never viewed Dawson or, Pacey as Joey's soulmate alone, because they all three bring out the best and worst in eachother. I loved Pacey and Joey more as a couple, but not because I feel he is her soulmate.

Also, when Michelle had her scene talking to Amy on camera. OMG it was touching and heartbreaking. I didn't want Jen to die, but I'm glad Michelle pulled out all the stops and poured herself into that role. I give her two thumbs up.

I think Jack raising Amy, now that was a good storyline. He was the obvious and perfect choice. Gail getting re-married, I'm glad she found someone else to be happy with. I missed Andie not being there, it would have been great to see how she was doing five years later as well.

Now the ending. Yes my couple ended up together and yes, it was finally nice to see Joey stop running from her feelings for Pacey. Now did I jump up and down and scream and shout like I thought I would, not exactly. I mean, she couldn't even finish her speech, to Pacey, that I waited tooth and nail for since they broke up in season four. The constant interuptions, the condition the speech was given under, after Jen passed, I mean, I was still crying from that. Gah, if only to go back and hear a full blown terrific speech, under different circumstances, would be great, but hey why bite the hand that feeds ya? They ended up together and as Joey said, [i]"You know who that person you reacted like is going to be in 10 years Pace? The person who knows me best. Dawson knows my past, my future lies with you."[/] How ironic, set 5 years in the future. I think that just about rounds out to ten years.

So in other words, Pacey and Joey ended up together, so that was great, but Jen died and that isn't, so I think it could have been better.

Having Jen die was the biggest injustice. If anyone on the show deserved a happy ending it was her. We hardly ever really saw her happy and it would have been the ultimate payoff to see that. Instead we had to at the start hear how her BF left her and then see her die. Now I agree her acting was just outstanding and it did pack a big emotional punch but I would have rather her of got a great happy ending.

I will forever believe Dawson and Joey were destined to be together no matter what happened in this EP. But I loved the scene when she shows up at his house and they hug and the last scene that have at the end was very good.

Overall this EP did pack a big emotional punch but I don't agree with some of the choices made by the writers.

I LOVED IT!!!
it was the perfect ending. i love that they explained what soul mates mean in the context of the show. i love that joey finally came to terms with who she is and why she's been running all the time. my only regret about the ending is that we didn't see joey tell pacey that he was the one. i wish their kitchen scene was never interrupted!!!

Michelle Williams just thoroughly rocked in this episode. We really got to see the talent that she is. And I agree, it did suck to see her die. But in her speech to Amy, she stated that she lived the best year of her life with the sweetest, the smartest and the most beautiful baby girl in the world. And that's a happiness you could see in her eyes or as she looks at her daughter. Jen's happiness lies with Amy.

I always loved the friendship between Jack and Jen. Ever since Season 2 when they went out on their "date", you could tell that they would be great together as friends.

Seeing Pacey and Joey together in the end was amazing. Knowing that Joey had finally stopped running away from her feelings about Pacey. Knowing that his love had always stayed with her, tucked away in that special place of her heart. It was just great to see them together.

It would have been great to see the scenes with Andie and the final montage. I always tear up when I see the montage.
