I just started rewatching again too.


I always love going back and watching because you always pick up on things, after the fact. My friend always said she wished we had seen Joey pining from a far like we did Pacey, before their kiss. I always tell her, we did. It was just different.

When we were watching Pacey fall in love with Joey without him even really realizing it (at first) it was seriously one of the best things ever. And it was exactly what Joey was feeling, but from a different perspective. For example, Joey's overreaction to Jen and Pacey and Andie calling Joey out, during the Valentine's Day Massacre episode, when she told her she sounded exactly like Her, right before she started dating Pacey. And why she was so upset when she thought Pacey was only around because of what Dawson asked him. She wasn't upset because she felt they traded her like a baseball card, she was hurt, because she was feeling a connection with Pacey as more then friends, she just fully didn't realize she was. Pacey was that same way, right before his talk with Mitch, during a weekend in the country. Up until that point, He knew he was spending time with her and finding her less repulsive and connecting more. That much he knew, but it didn't become really (REAL) for him, until that moment when he actually thought about what Mitch said and what Grams said and sat down by that fire and watched her sleep. That was his defining moment. The moment when it all made sense... that the whole time, he was in love with Joey. So yes, we saw his (REAL) realization first, but that doesn't mean, the whole time he was having confusion in the beginning, that Joey wasn't either. It's apparent she knew all along too, same as Pacey, but that first real kiss, that was her (sitting by the fire watching him sleep) defining moment. That is what awakened her. She even makes that clear when she said she was in love with him and knew it from the moment he kissed her and even before that. She knew it was before that, but that kiss, was when it all made sense... that the whole time, she was in love with Pacey.

At least that is how I see it. Oh how I love these two. I don't care how many years pass. They will forever be my OTP and when I watch them today, the way I did years and years ago, it still feels the same.

I agree, great post Blondie. Back then I didn't really see Joey's feelings until he kissed her (and her jealousy over Pacey/Jen) but they were just more subtle than Pacey's. I agree that they were both falling for each other but didn't know it until those moments you brought up. It was always obvious Pacey finally knew for himself when he watched Joey sleep but I agree Joey knew when Pacey kissed her. She even said in "Show Me Love" that she had to figure out what she felt when Pacey kissed her. She was clearly shook by it in "Neverland," glad that Jen and Doug said Joey wouldn't be so upset if she didn't have feelings for Pacey too.

They had such a beautiful love story and the build up that led to it. I still love it 20 years later, it's one of the many reasons they are the best couple on Dawson's Creek. Pacey/Joey are one of my favorite TV couples of all time for sure.

I always notice more each time I watch too. You for sure see Joey’s feelings in season three but they are more subtle. I love A weekend in the Country though, to this day it is one of my favorite episodes. The ending scene with Pacey watching her sleep always gets me.

I agree, it's just so sweet how he's admiring her and protectively watching over her too. I also love the episode in general cause Pacey does SO MUCH to help Joey, just one of his many selfless moments.

Pacey was very selfless in this episode. I love Mitch asking him why did he care so much.

I don’t think even Pacey ever saw Joey like that way at all most Of his life. They had this love hate relationship. That grew into an mutual attraction. You prob saw the attraction begin first in 1x11. Double Date.

I love that that chemistry test made them realize they needed to put Pacey and Joey together in the future. It paid off a hell of a lot. I also love the parallel of Pacey trying to kiss Joey in this episode and she blows him off like it was nothing, but then when he kisses her in S3 she is so pissed off cause she has feelings for him lol. Her different reaction to the kiss showed her feelings changed.

If they do decide to the reboot the series. Be cool. Love reminiscing about the past. But really curious to where they are now. I always imagined Poey got married, moved in together. Had a few kids. I would be so down for a Joey and Pacey spin-off. Where they are now adults. Kinda like One Tree Hills original premise. And theirs a new set of kids. Anyway Endgame forever
