KW chose to not give them interaction when the McPhees showed up. I think he wanted Andie to banter with Pacey, so he probably figured that there wouldn't be a point to show him with Joey

Pacey and Joey had some nice moments in season 1, but I didn't really see them as close until Pacey and Andie broke up. What's interesting is her comment. She subconsciously had feelings for Pacey in FTT. Before, it was Joey and Dawson, but now it's the three of them. Even if Joey hadn't been jealous of Pacey and Jen, there was a lot of other subtle things that showed me she was falling for Pacey. She wanted an excuse to spend time with him by taking dance lessons. Why not have him help her around the house in exchange for study lessons. She acted nervous when she thought he was flirting with her. She admits she overreacted to him and Jen. She goes back and looks relieved when Jen is gone and then takes his hand at the end
