The promotion for the triangle was better than it was written honestly.
Basically Season 3 Dawson is made the bad guy at the end to push PJo but then Pacey is made the bad guy to flip it back to DJo when he blows up at Joey at prom. The writers actually said at the time that they had to go back to DJo b/c they didn't know if the show would be back Season 5 & wanted to bring the show full circle with Season 1 finale having them kiss again Season 4 finale. PJo Season 5 isn't dealt with properly. I like to think they just have a really healthy dynamic.  I don't know a woman that would be so OK with someone they had such a powerful relationship with being fine with their friend dating them & not show any jealousy. Joey being fine with Pacey/Audrey never felt right. I haven't rewatched any of this lately but that's what I remember thinking last time I saw those episodes.  __________________

Jaime, your opinion on S5 is a popular one. The whole Joey being okay with Pacey/Audrey never made sense.

That will forever be ridiculous. Joey JUST got out of the most serious, passionate, and loving relationship of her life with Pacey. Was unwilling to leave Pacey behind and kept saying her future is with him, just lost her virginity to him only for her to act nonchalant about Pacey dating her roommate? More plot driven, OOC bs. If it was written realistically Joey would of showed jealousy and been a little uncomfortable with that. Glad it was acknowledged in Castaways, ridiculous on all levels.

I'm going to play devil's advocate here. I personally thought that in S5, Joey cared so much for Pacey that she just wanted him to be happy and since they started out being friends, it was easy to go back to being friends. She had done it with Dawson after their S2 romance. Although I don't think Joey got over Pacey so easily, I pretend that she was ok with Pacey and Audrey because it would mean that Pacey would still be in her life and close to her even if not with her. Pacey did tell her he needed to go off and live his own life for a while and maybe deep down she knew that to be true, so was able to let him go.
That is how I am able to get through S5, knowing that Joey loved him enough to set him free. __________________

I can see both perspectives, I guess. Like Joey said in Castaways maybe she grew up. Then again maybe the writers wrote that argument in Castaways to fix the mistake that they made in S5.
In Daytime soaps, it happens all the time. Characters move on so quickly and become okay with their exes getting involved with friends or family members. It's an easy way out for writers. __________________
