Thoughts about Audrey and Pacey's breakup

I know there has to be someone besides me who felt bad of Audrey when she broke up with Pacey. She overheard him say that he didn't think he ever loved her. They spent about nine months together. That must have hurt. Also, CJ wasn't even with Jen. He had no interest in Jen at all until later in the season, so he didn't do anything wrong sleeping with Audrey. They were all free agents.

My heart broke for Audrey when she had to hear Pacey talking to Emma about not even really even loving her. Because I do believe she loved him. I think if CJ was not smart enough to see what a great and beautifully person Jen was he did not deserve her later on.

CJ doesn't have to like Jen. Jen just seems to think that CJ is gay because he doesn't want her. She has quite an ego in some of these episodes. He never led her on. She's asked him yesterday that she wanted to go out with him and she tried to kiss him.

At that point, I just wasnt a fan of Audrey anymore, she'd gotten so annoying and obviously wasnt making Pacey happy so although I was happy they broke up because it obviously was for the best it's always going to suck when you overhear someone say that they dont think they ever loved you, it was a bad way for the situation to happen but I dont think it justifies Audrey hitting Pacey, after all its not like he said it to her face or meant for it to hurt her.

I agree that Audrey shouldn't have hit Pacey, but she was very emotional. She felt bad after she did it.

ITA agree with you. I really liked Audrey in season 5. Not so much in season 6. She just didn't seem that understanding of Paceys situation. He did have to work and I don't blame him for wanting to make something better for himself. That was the first time in his life that I saw him work really hard to reach his goal. I also understand Audrey being ticked off her boyfriend isn't spending any time with her.

I did feel bad for Audrey for overhearing Pacey and Emmas convo. That sucks to hear someone say they don't know if they ever loved you. I can't stand the fact she hit him. It's just not right.

Ditto .

I never really was a fan of Audrey. She was just too annoying and whiny for me. I don't think Pacey's heart was in it a lot of the time but they did have fun.

I do think Jen over reacted but it still wasn't a nice thing for Audrey to do. I think in friendships between girls there are some boundaries that you just don't cross in regards to guys your friend likes even if they don't seem to have a chance at that point.

I liked Audrey a lot in season 5. Season 6 I could not stand her very much I could only stand her when she had some scenes with Dawson.

truth

I'm gonna be honest and say as a P/J fan it thrilled me when they broke up. I loved Audrey in a lot of season 5 but stopped liking her when she started dating Pacey. I agree it sucks she had to hear it but it did my P/J heart good when they broke up and he admitted he hadn't loved her. I also felt really badly for Jen. He was free but it did hurt her. I never understood why guys weren't crawling over themselves for Jen. She was a great catch IMO.

I absolutely felt for Audrey whenever she overheard Pacey and Emma's convo. Her heart must have been breaking in two. I believe that Audrey did love Pacey. What a way to find out. Yeah, I felt for her. Obviously, what Pacey and Audrey had was not true love, but it certainly was not just a fling either. Like hshapir2 said, they were together for 9 months. And there were definitely real emotions and deep feelings there. I actually think that Pacey "thought" he loved Audrey but did come to the conclusion that he was never in love with her. And that certainly was not Pacey's fault. The guy cared deeply for her and he made that clear to her many times after their break up. He helped her tremendously after the drunken crash and burn deal at Dawsons and that is a huge example of how Pacey cared for Audrey. And it wasn't just pity, he really did care about her but he was unable to love her back the way that she deserved. So, their break up had to be. However, how Audrey found out.. Yeah, felt really horribly for her. Although I did think that she shouldn't have hit Pacey. Of course that was uncalled for. Although in her defense, at that very moment she was filled with such anger and completely devastated. Does that justify her actions? No way. Yeah, she certainly shoudl not have hit him no matter how upset she was.

I also liked season 5 Audrey much more than season 6 Audrey. And I agree with COOLCAT.. I did like Audrey with Dawson in season 6. I was so wanting a D/Audrey hook up in season 6. I thought they made tons of sense. She lightened him up big time and his seriousness made her less crazy. I just really thought they complimented each other and was disappointed that the writers did not try out romance for them.

Regarding Jen and her reaction to CJ and Audrey. I agree that Jen was WAY out of line for thinking that she deserved to be anger over it. She had no claim on CJ as CJ made it quite clear that he was not interested in her romantically. Yeah, this was one instance that I thought Jen was very out of line.

Wilpen, I agree with everything you said. Audrey had every right to be upset with Pacey. Whether or not Pacey meant to hurt her, he did. I think he also thought he loved her. I don't think he led her on. I also agree that Jen overreacted to CJ and Audrey. Jen didn't have a problem getting with Dawson in season 5 when him and Joey were on the possibility of getting back together. Joey calls her a good person. Jen calls Audrey sad. CJ showed zero interest in Jen at all. She did everything and told him she was interested, but he wasn't. So, what if he was interested months later, it had nothing to do with the now. Audrey even says he wasn't yours to begin with. No one has any claim on anyone. I agree that Dawson and Audrey should have hooked up.

I think Jen had a right to be upset, even though CJ had no claim, Audrey, was very aware of Jen's feelings for him and that was wrong on Audrey's part not CJ's and even though Jen and Dawson did get back together, when he and Joey were so, so, it dosen't matter, Joey and Dawson weren't a couple and Joey never openly stated that she wanted Dawson back to Jen and what happened with Jen and Dawson was much more then a one night fling. Audrey had no right to slap Pacey period, she knew there was a possibility that Joey still had Pacey's heart and knew it, when she got there, it had been torn apart and Pacey I don't feel led her on, I just feel that he tried to give it a shot and it didn't work out, which is sad for Audrey, but the best for both of them. If it isn't going to work out, then let it be, don't force it.

Okay. Hold on a sec. That's not fair. Jen didn't know anything about Dawson and Joey getting back together. She's not a mind reader and neither Dawson nor Joey confided in her about it! Secondly, why would Jen even have an inkling about D/J when only a few months previously Joey had been dating Pacey and Dawson as far as she knew had been single since his break up with Gretchen months and months previously? And third, Dawson and Jen were both free, single, consenting adults. I know Jen had some worry about how Joey would take the news, but not because she knew they were going to get back together. D/J hadn't been an item for two and a half years! But Jen was worried the same way Pacey had been back in S3 because of the 'ballard of Dawson and Joey.' She, too, has been a witness to the, for want of a better word, co-dependency these two had with each other over the previous years.

As for the CJ stuff, they didn't show Audrey give Jen so much as a thought when she went off with CJ and she did it deliberately. Not to deliberately hurt Jen, but because she was hurting, she wanted to blot out that hurt and she didn't care about anybody else. And yes, Jen was angry. She had every right to feel angry. Not because she had a claim on CJ, but because she liked CJ, Audrey knew that and had ignored it. This is the same girl who had the nerve to tell Joey [i]'Does the expression "bros before hos" mean anything to you?' in Cigarette Burns, S5, but whatever, Audrey was in a bad place in S6.
More than that CJ made a big deal about not wanting to get involved with anyone because of his problems and his going off with Audrey in a way made a lie of what he'd told Jen. And just to add, as hurt and angry as Jen was, she didn't lash out. She was quiet and straight up when she confronted Audrey about it. Full credit to her. She didn'take a big scene or a big deal of it and what she said was true. Audrey was sad. Her downward spiral made act that way. Jen didn't tell her anything that wasn't true - after Jen was there for her and tried to help Audrey on more than one occasion, and that was the thanks she got from Audrey.

Pacey and Audrey. That slap. Totally uncalled for. I know a few people felt he deserved it, but I don't see why. I don't believe it was just about overhearing him say he wasn't sure he had ever loved her. She took out all her frustrations on him. Ever since they got back from the summer she'd been a needy drama queen - much worse than she had been before the summer. There was hardly any understanding or concern about his need to make something of himself, plus this constant need for attention. We already knew she had problems, hinted at in S5, concerning her parents. She felt insecure and unloved. She certainly didn't seem to get on with her father.
Maybe she sensed things were not right with Pacey. Maybe deep down she already knew he didn't love her like she loved him. Maybe he seemed more distant over the summer, what with trying to keep up with party Audrey, and maybe she couldn't hack Pacey needing his own space and time to do what he had to. Afterall, they spent a lot of time with each other last season, working together as well as seeing each other outside work and then the summer together. But whatever it was it was his admission to Emma that was the clincher and I imagine hearing that must have hurt like hell, but not everything is Pacey's fault.
