Episode Discussion 209 "The Election"

Andie persuades Joey to be her running mate in the student body election, pitting them against the popular ticket of Abby and Chris Wolfe. Andie, Joey and Pacey anticipate that Abby's smear campaign will dredge up Joey's spotty family history, but are completely unprepared when Abby turns the spotlight on the McPhees. Meanwhile, Jen pressures Dawson to live a little so that he can use his real-life experiences to write a stronger script. Only when he witnesses his parents' feeble attempt at reconciliation and their subsequent decision to divorce, does Dawson give in to Jen's advice.

Ooh, yay, a new episode discussion!

This is one of my favorite episodes. Meredith Monroe did such an amazing job in it. I loved her storyline, as always, and Pacey was a true hero for her once again. These two never failed to amaze me.

The final Joey/Jack scene was really moving and I loved when Pacey did Abby in. Plus, the music in this episode was phenomenal.

Outside of the P/A scenes, this episode in general put me to sleep. Although Pacey rocked whenever he put Abby in her place.

The D/Jen stuff was okay, but I didn't like Dawson trying to kiss Jen while swimming because he was clearly in rebound mode and basically trying to ease his pain of not being with Joey. I certainly don't think Dawson was trying to use Jen or anything that cruel. I think he just got caught up in the moment but with Jen not totally over Dawson at this point, it just wasn't appropriate.

This episode was generally not one of my favorites, but the PA stuff was superb, as usual.

This 1 was ok. The Dawson/Jen stuff was ok I liked the end scene of her being there for him. The Pacey and Andie stuff was great this was 1 episode I did not like Abby Morgan in and generally I love her but I hated how she brought up Andies Mothers problems. Jack/Joey Boring But I liked how she talked about Dawson holding her hand at the end.

Not a big fan of the Election. Not sure why. But when I do watch it:\

Favorite Scene: Jen and Dawson skinny dipping.

Lease Favorite Scene: Abby "outing" the knowledge of Andie's mom/family. It just seemed way to cruel, even for Abby, and I just don't believe that the school principal/teachers would have allowed her to say those things in public.

Favorite Song: Heart and Shoulder by Heather Nova

Most Touching scene: Jen comforting Dawson at the end
--------------------
Best Words of Wisdom:
Jen: Okay, but how are you going to reach your audience with that perspective? Dawson, I've read your script, okay? Your hyper-awareness is disarming. You've got to start responding like an adolescent and stop hiding behind that psychology degree that you don't have.

Dawson: What is wrong with being mature for my age?

Jen: Because it's going to trap you, Dawson. Because you're going to wake up one morning and you're going to realize that the reason you're not growing is that you never allowed the process. There's a reason that we go from infancy to old age. Think about that.
--------------------------

Funniest "Pacey"-ism:
Pacey: She won my vote a few bumper stickers ago

-----------------------

Most Touching/Heart-warming Lines:
Joey: You know, when my mom was dying...I had this friend who was amazing, and you know, a lot of times...I didn't feel like talking and you know, we would just sit, sometimes for hours and never say a word, and you know what? It helped. It did because being in the same place I knew that everything was going to be okay. And towards the end when things got really bad, he would just reach out and hold my hand.

*She reaches for Jack's hand.*

I totally agree, surely she would have gotten punished for that, I mean isn't it bullying?!?

I agree about Abby getting away with the cruel thing she did to Andie. Obviously the teachers and principal were MIA on that one. Really unrealistic.
