Episode Discussion # 412 - "The Te of Pacey"
When Joey helps plan a surprise party for Pacey's birthday, she ends up getting more surprises than she bargained for. Meanwhile, Pacey's family creates a nightmare situation for all involved. Dawson's disappointed that Gretchen keeps putting off their first official date, and is dismayed when she insists they keep their relationship under wraps. Forced to miss the party finishing up her community service, Jen's mood brightens when she winds up working with Tobey. __________________

It was weird seeing it so cold on Pacey's birthday when 2 seasons earlier the guy had a pool party of sorts.Â* Pacey did have a tough family life and this was just another example. Joey was clearly bothered by seeing Dawson and Gretchen as by the talk in the kitchen at that moment.Â* Not really much else to say about this one.

Josh did some great acting in this episode. I thought the Jen and Tobey scenes were boring and Dawson and Gretchen as well.

Wasn't an outstanding episode. Random thoughts:
- what happened to Pacey's veterinarian dream? Did it die with his parents' total lack of belief in their son or with the death of the family dog? I reckon he'd have been a good one anyway. - Gretchen and the way she told that story of the dancer Isabella...just didn't do anything for me. I can't imagine many kids handling that while looking at the *stars* for hours... - Tobey and Jen didn't interest me in this episode - I thought Pacey and his dad had a nice moment __________________

And Me. I thought this episode was quite funny, but it was sad as well. LOVE the bit at the end with the fireworks and Pacey and Joey and Pacey's Dad. So sweet

I felt bad for Pacey This episode was just so sad. But it did bring to the fact about how Pacey always talks about his family and how they are to him. This is the first time we see his mother, who seems to be just as gone as poor Andie's mother. This also was the first and only time we see Pacey's parents house. I did not like that whole family scene in the living room it just made me so mad. I just feel like wraping my arms around Pacey, I feel so bad for him. This episode always made me feel uncomfortable.
Though I did enjoy the scene between Pacey and his Father, it did make me feel better for Pacey. I suppose he has had a few moments with his father like that in a few episodes. Oh, and I agree with coolcat. Im not sure, but I think once on the DC main site, they had that "logic leaps" and I think it said there why that happened. But when you click on that link now it just takes me back to the main site. I could be wrong, I can't honestly remember. Perhaps it was just cold that day. lol Im sure one of you remember why that is. This was a quote from that episode on DC.com, it really put the dagger in his heart then... MARY: In honor of Pacey’s birthday I’ve made his favorite: chipped beef on toast. PACEY: It’s Doug’s favorite, actually. My favorite is spaghetti and meatballs. MARY: But -- when you were a kid, you always begged me to make chipped beef on toast. PACEY: Right, I forgot. All these years, I’ve pretended to hate chipped beef on toast, in a vain attempt to mask my true feelings of love. DOUG: Well, I love chipped beef on toast. PACEY: Yes, that fact is well established. Thank you. |

I have to say ... with all the build-up that Pacey kept insinuating his family situation, to actually see it ... I was glad they stuck with that theme. Everything he said earlier supported that episode ... and that to me was fantastic. Although, heartbreaking because it turns out he wasn't over-exaggerating ... but, it was hard to watch. Especially his mother's line about him being a vet, and was like ... you mean dog groomer. If only Andie could have witnessed that, too. Or ... did she off camera?

The te of Pacey... what a boredom .
The only good part of that episode was when P/J found out about D/G together. The face of Joey when she saw Dawson and Gretchen kissing made the episode tolerable for me. I agree with the boring isabella story.. that was so lame. Maybe P/Jers will hate me but I really disliked the Pacey character, specially in this episode. He so wanted to be the underdog, but he was the only responsible for his future. So I didn´t feel sorry for him when he didn´t go to college. |

I’m so confused, does Joey not understand Pacey at all? Why the hell would she do a surprise party with his family, and Gretchen even warned her. Is she nuts?
Another boring episode to me though. It was okay seeing Pacey's homelife but a little sad and it took up the whole episode. And its just so strange how they dont know him and/or care about him at all? Dawson/Gretchen make out was fun and I like that Joey saw that and her jealously. But she has absolutely no right to be upset! Gretchen was being irritating too being all weird about it. At least everything sorta came together in the end. |
