I just watched the episode where it was found out by everyone that Jack was in fact gay and Ty had this big thing to do about it and Jen defended Jack from the beginning. I never liked Ty but it was sad that they broke up because of something that Jack couldn't control

That's a tough one because I wasn't a huge fan of Ty's either. He seemed like a nice enough guy but then he had these standards and beliefs. He couldn't understand that Jack had no control over how he felt, and that was the misconception because Ty thought that Jack was choosing to be that way and to change that if he wanted to.

I inwardly cheer when Grams comes to Jack's defence and stops Ty in his tracks. I thought that scene was done very well.

I didn't like Ty and it was more than just the Jack being gay thing. He went to bible studies and all that, but he also went to parties and drank alcohol. He was living two lives it seemed and he had the odasity to question Jack's life.

I don't know if going to bible school and going to parties would necessarily be considered as two separate lives. He actually played an instrument, so the going out thing was based around that more than just going to party. I'm not defending him, just stating how I see it, but I still wasn't a fan of his.

Ty had this weird vibe around him that he wanted things a certain way and didn't believe anything out of his circle of beliefs.

There are certainly closed minded people out there and a good coming of age story wouldn't be good unless it addressed all the different facets of life.

Ty was the one that Grams liked originally because he was a church goer. Remember in the episode Witch Island when Pacey and Jen are in the gift shop and Pacey makes a comment about Jen's past men and says he's better than "bible thumping Ty or that neanderthal Chris Wolfe"?

Oh yeah, Ty turned out to be very judgmental of gays :(

I love when Grams stood up for Jack.

Grams and Jack were a hoot. She loved him like a son or grandson :)

I think Ty was just judgmental in general, he just only had one subject to stand up against.

Me too and she didn't let her beliefs stop her from loving others.

"If Jack is gay - he doesn't need your judgment, young man. The Lord above will be the one to judge him as he will judge all of us. What he needs from you and me and everyone else in this world is love and tolerance. If anything, that boy must feel scared and alone and it will take the understanding of his fellow man to help him through. Let's save judgment for someone much more experienced than you."

One of my favorite moments from Grams!
