I know and this Board has been around since about 2003, so we aren't far behind in our own Celebration.

Yes, this board is definitely close to a 20-year anniversary. I joined in 1999 because of the Dawson’s Creek board.

It was funny because during the reunion special both Katie and Kevin Williamson said the show pre-dated social media and the couple wars, and while it pre-dated social media it certainly didn’t pre-date couple wars. It got so bad on here the DC board moderator instituted those rules about being respectful to others and their opinions, no bashing of the characters outside of the Anti threads, and that the board is PG-13 so people had to stop cursing each other out. That’s why I stopped posting here very much. I needed to be free in my fury and loathing. But having these rules ended up being a good thing. I think that’s why people still come here, two decades later.

Even though I've noticed some posters join date, I can't believe this board is almost 20 years old. I've only been here for four years lol. I can see the couple wars, I don't get why some people literally lose thier minds over fictional shows and couples. Some people act like it's their entire life (dealing with that now with Scandal and Olitz fans. One of the many reasons I'm glad the show is over after next week) I feel like there is still a little baiting here from time to time but it's no big deal compared to other psychotic nonsense I've seen before.

I think the fact that people are online allows them to give free rein to their emotions. And being that many of us were teenagers, the emotions were running high! Michelle Williams was spot on when she said something like how Dawson's Creek was a show aimed at kids in their formulative years, and it struck with a lot of fans because of that.

I also think being on a message board or in a Facebook group where people are like-minded feeds the fire. But I know what you mean as far as people getting psychotic, especially with social media. I read about (some!) Twilight fans who were like spamming the actors' social media pages with vitriolic messages and swearing by wild conspiracy theories. No one did anything like that back then. We were just arguing amongst ourselves, no one was trying to find out any of the actors' AIM names in order to threaten them.

I do remember when Project Soulmates (a bunch of D/Jers who posted here) sent the writers dozens of daisies in an attempt to sway them into putting Dawson and Joey back together, and we at Project Nookie (a bunch of P/Jers) thought that was pretty funny. (No offense to any old D/Jers who may have participated, I see a few of you guys around. )

Project Nookie and Project Soulmates Those are very fun names for the two Fan Groups. I haven't been acquainted with the older Threads, etc, so didn't know about those.

When I first saw the trailer for Dawsons Creek, I was immediately obsessed..I absolutely loved the best friends in love/secretly pining premise.

I still remember how I was too scared to watch the show with my parents there so my friend at school would videotape it for me on VHS and I would have to sneak to watch it..
