**** Have a question for all Pandie shippers, which might sound strange, but here goes: I didn't start watching DC until S3 when it originally aired. I never found the three following seasons ever reached the heights of 3. Eventually I've watched the first two as well, but only a few random eps here and there. My question is, how did you (Pandie shippers) react to what happened to Pandie in S3? And did you want/expect them to be endgame? I'm curious, never thought of it before visiting these forums, how that must have been for a regular viewer who'd been watching the first two seasons. Anyway, sorry if this has been discussed at great length in the other threads, I've just never found reactions anywhere |

I was devastated by how Pandie were treated when s3 first aired and hoped all season they were going to get back together. It felt possible when Pacey started building the ship for her then well we know what happened. I really liked their scenes in s4 and hoped we'd see them together again someday but it wasn't to be. I still dislike s3 because of how Andie, Dawson, Pandie, and DJo were treated that season, as if s2 never existed.

I was devastated too honestly, I wanted and expected them to be endgame (with some obstacles on the way of course) but alas the writers treated that ship like crap and don't even get me started on Andie's character she never would have cheated on Pacey, never ever it was totally OOC from her, I don't care what the writers say if they really wanted to make room for Djo, ok, fine but not like this, it was painful to watch the writers had no shame in breaking Pandie's magic in one episode
That gif the way they look at each other so much love thank you __________________

**** and thanks everyone for answering my question, I expect it was hard to revisit. I learned a lot from reading your responses From an outsider's perspective, it is strange to think what the social media outcry would have been like today if a show took a character and had them act a certain way in order to break up one couple, to make way for another. This was criticised by the Gilmore Guys in their podcast too, when they discussed how every time one guy was supposed to be the 'right' choice for Rory, the other guys automatically acted badly to serve the story. Maybe it's to do with the teen soap genre having around 20 years of programming saturation now so the genre has been established and only now do shows oftentimes break with conventions/tropes (love triangles, nerd girl vs. popular girl etc). Such as with Michael and Rafael from Jane the Virgin (sorry if nobody knows these shows), where both guys are flawed and it's a matter of what characteristics you prefer in a person, not whether Pacey is sportsmanlike and Dawson suddenly tries to kill him and Will in a boat race. (Although that being said they did give Rafael some OOC moments in S2 to keep him busy while prolonging Michael's storyline, but that's another post ) Anyhoo, just some musings on writers' rooms. I'm trying to think of an example of a present day TV series where they served story at the expense of characters to further the narrative, so as to demolish the notion that what happened to Pandie was commonplace in teen dramas in the late '90s/early '00s and therefore couldn't have been avoided. Does anyone think this has anything to do with Kevin Williamson leaving as showrunner after S2? ************* edit: this is one of the few times in DC I found Pacey repulsive |

I have learned to like Pacey and Joey during season 4, and now, after 6 seasons, I can admit that the build-up of their relationship in season 3 was wonderfully written.
The big exception: Andie. I didn't like season 3 when I first watched it, because Pacey/Andie were (and are) still my OTP. I loved their relationship, because they had to deal with issues that are not the typical teen-drama-things. Andie slowly losing her mind is for me still the most convincing storyline off the whole show, and the scene in season 2 when Pacey convinced her to come out of the bathroom is still the most intense scene DC has to offer (in my opinion). I was literally shaken after that and still get goosebumps seeing it. I wish they had continued with this storyline, maybe Andie got scared to lose her mind again and Pacey come to his limits to support her or to let her down or something like that or something completely different like in season 4 where Andie has problems again. But they choose to let Andie cheat on him (which is total out of line for Andie) and she had to make room for just another love triangel. Of course, it was a really beautfiul written love-triangel. But I still wish the had written a better solution for the break-up for Pacey and Andie, it was so out of the blue. |

I really enjoy seeing Pacey and Andie together and love them as a couple, but I feel like I'm alone in my opinion that I understand how Andie could sleep with this guy Mark.
And before you bite my head off, let me tell you why. Andie did have issues and that is a very serious thing to have to deal with, so when she went to the "hospital" to try and get better she runs into a guy who suffers from the same thing, so of course they are going to connect and of course she is going to feel close to him. I don't condone what she did, but I never held it against her because he was scared and vulnerable so when a guy comes along who can understand what she is going through, he can't help but fee closer to him. I know that it was a ruin of Pacey and Andie and I am saddened by that fact and was routing for them to work it out, but I also get what Pacey said about him not being enough for her made total sense and because I that I was able to move on a let go of their lost relationship even though I wanted them to be together. __________________

I'm sorry but your explanation about how Andie acted the way she did has nothing to do with a one night stand, her starting to have feelings for Mark without cheating on Pacey would have been way more believable imho

Agreed with Cyndie here, I'll never think that Andie cheating was in character no matter what was going on with her. She went somewhere to get well. It would've made more sense for her to form a bond with someone she spent time with instead of what we got. And it's weird that Pacey didn't even try to understand, considering some of the mistakes he made in the past. And honestly Andie cheating wasn't the worst part of that season for her, it was her lying about being raped and cheating on tests, something she did after she came back "well".
Anyway, last night I watched "Psychic Friends" and Pandie had some cute scenes in that episode. Their flirting was so cute and it was sweet how Pacey stood up for her then comforted her. His reassurance that her future would be bright ended up being true, despite the bumps that came later on. __________________

I will admit I liked pj season 3, but that was it. Pandie was my otp and always will be. They should have been endgame.
