Dawson's Creek Friendship Appreciation Thread #1 - So Many Friends, So Little Time

I think that it might be more efficient to consolidate some of the appreciation threads on this forum so that not only do we not get inundated with appreciation threads but so that we can post all in one thread and not have to jump around. So here is where you can talk about the different friendship, couples that lasted only a short time and couples that never were on the show.

Including but not limited to:

Jen, Andie & Joey

Jack & Pacey

Joey & Jack

Dawson & Andie

Dawson & Audrey

Jen & Pacey

Joey & Eddie

Joey & Charlie

Jack and Jen and Jen and Dawson aren't included in this thread, their threads will remain since they've been going for a while now.

Great idea Kim! I personally really liked Dawson and Audrey together, and I think that James and Busy played off each other well. My favorite scene involving them was in Clean and Sober, where Audrey expressed regret for some of the things she had done, and that scene showed what good friends Dawson and Audrey had become. I think they would have made an interesting couple, because I think that Dawson could have grounded Audrey somewhat, and Audrey could have encouraged Dawson to cut loose more, and I think the writers made a mistake when they paired Audrey up with Pacey instead of Dawson.

This really is a great idea! I loved the Joey/Jack, Jen/Pacey, Pacey/Jack, and Dawson/Andie friendships during the first two seasons

Joey and Eddie in The Song Remains the Same:

[Scene: Hell’s Kitchen. It is early, and the bar has just opened. Joey walks into the bar, and begins looking around, when Eddie from her Lit Class runs into her as he passes by her.]

Joey: Excuse me.
Eddie: Yeah.
Joey: You obviously don't remember me, but--
Eddie: oh, yeah. Sure. Nice to see you again.
Joey: Excuse me.
Eddie: Sorry, I don't really have time to chit-chat.
Joey: I'm not attempting to forge some kind of social connection here.
Eddie: Well, good, because--
Joey: you can just apologize and we'll move on.
Eddie: Apologize?
Joey: Yeah.
Eddie: Look, it's really simple. You read the book, you come to class. Preferably in that order.
Joey: You finished?
Eddie: Yes.
Joey: Good. You bumped into me just now in your mad dash to read the lunch specials.
Eddie: Well, I'm sorry.
Joey: Thank you.
Eddie: Didn't realize you were so delicate.

I like how he says "Didn't realize you were so delicate," lol.

I always wished that we could have seen more friendship scenes between Dawson and Andie. We got to see that Andie was one of the first people to offer Dawson some encouragement after Pacey and Joey sailed off together, and I wish that we could have seen them build a strong friendship in Season Four, but the "geniuses" in charge of the show chose to write Andie out of the show instead. What a shame.

I agree. More scenes between Dawson and Andie would have been great.

I like this Jack and Joey scene from "Be careful what you wish for":

*Cut to Jack walking down the dock towards Joey.*

Jack: Hey.

Joey: Hey. You know, it's bad enough that I organized the world's worst surprise party, Jack, but Abby? I mean, after what she did to your family and everyone else...I don't know, I guess I just thought that if you were to go straight again you would chose someone like...Cindy Crawford or something.

Jack: Everyone's been telling me how okay they are with me coming out. You, Pacey, that (missed word), that guidance counselor...

Joey: I'm sorry for being so accepting...would you rather everyone just turn against you?

Jack: No, it's--she said some things tonight that made me feel like I was just like everyone else. I guess I just saw what I could have become, this whole thing, someone on the fringes like Abby.

Joey: So if we hadn't of walked in...

Jack: I still would've stopped. I knew it from the minute I started that I was--that I am gay.

Joey: You know, Jack, I think everyone feels alone and wants to be normal and I don't think anyone really ever does.

Jack: I don't want to be singled out, you know? Like I have some scarlet 'G' on my chest. You know? The Ellen of Capeside.

Joey: We're all going through the painful process of growing up. You just have this extra layer of difficulty but you're incredibly lucky to have people who support you. Don't lose sight of that.

Jack: Yeah...I guess the thought of being gay...seemed like such a lonely thought. I just don't want to end up alone.

I like how they later refered to their conversation here in the Anti-Prom.

Joey and Jack's friendship is one of my favorites on DC. Jack seemed to really get Joey and they talked to each other with such ease. He also gave her some good advice at times.

I really think the friendship that Joey and Jen developed was excellent. At first, when Jen arrived, Joey saw her as a rival. And in the end, she saw her as a confidante. This one scene from Season 5 (yes, Season 5) is a great example:

Quote:

Joey: Hey.

Jen: What are you doing here?

Joey: It's complicated. Um... I thought you were going to Costa Rica.

Jen: I was. Now I'm not. Thanks to your friend and mine, and something tells me it probably has something to do with why you're standing in line right now.

Joey: Mmm-maybe.

Jen: There's so much that I want to say that I'm sorry for this year, but there's no time, and I—

Joey: Give me a hug.

Jen: Ok.

Joey: Have a great summer.

Jen: Thanks. You, too. I love you, Jo.

Joey: I love you, too.

And who can forget that scene with Jen, Joey and Andie from S4 Future Tense on the dock when Joey was hilariously drunk? I always thought there could have been alot more Joey and Jen scenes after they had got over Dawson, would have been so cool.

Also, Joey and Jack were great friends in S2 even after their breakup so they should have got more time together as well. But, S3 moment for them...

I love the Andie, Jen and Joey scene, when Joey says "Some people like the salad dressing on the salad, and some people like it on the side" and Andie says "...ok!!!" Cracks me up
