http://i978.photobucket.com/albums/a.../dawcryfff.gif or the classic one lol http://i978.photobucket.com/albums/a...dcryrc1rh6.gif

clarkson_fan 08-28-2011 05:59 PM

Classic, just classic  I always got that that was supposed to be a serious moment, but i always laugh or cringe (Depending on my mood) when i see that crying face.

Sheebs 08-29-2011 03:15 AM

 @ that gif! It's so bad that even James himself made fun of it.

To this day, I still often talk about how AWFUL Dawson Leery was. By the 6th season, I was fast forwarding through his scenes.

Touldengal 08-29-2011 04:03 AM

my problems with dawson started some time in season 1. i think his idealistic view on life is pretty cool, considering how realistic everyone else on the show is :P but sometimes it got to the point where you're just like... REALLY??!!! not everything is black and white. he seemed like the type of character that didn't really understand the gray areas in life.

Ali 08-29-2011 11:03 AM

Yep. That reminds me of that awesome quote from Joey in PDA... "I understand, Dawson, that in that black and white world in which you live, you didn't see any choices. But that's not my world. I see things in gray, and that's what makes us different. And that's what made me fall in love with you and that is what's tearing us apart." It's like it's the best and worst thing about him, depending on the situation lol.

Another thing was how he was so self-involved a lot of of the time. He was always so concerned about his feelings and everyone else was too! So I think the others almost encouraged him to act that way sometimes. "You're the guy who built this fantastic world. You just let the rest of us live in it." Pacey said that, and he was completely serious. Everyone just let him go on thinking that it was all about him, save for the few times they didn't.

What are everyone's thoughts on the DP relationship?

hahahha. Love it! I just knew that GIF was going to be on here. :lmao:

clarkson_fan 08-29-2011 02:01 PM

Well, even if Pacey said that in all seriousness, i don't think he liked it. One bit. Even if Pacey thought at the time that Dawson was the center of their little group and that he, Pacey, didn't deserve to be with Joey like Dawson supposedly "derserved" to be with her, it was really hurting Pacey, i think.

But that's just the thing, Dawson, what with getting compliments like that from Pacey, seemed to think he could own whatever or whoever was in his life, and he acted like that with Joey.

That's one of my main problems with Dawson. It's precisely his black and white, rose-colored, and fantasy-like views that made him so self-absorbed, self-righteous, and entitled. Not to mention the fact that he had the perfect life for so long, and every little problem was treated like the end of the world with him, even if it wasn't. He didn't live in reality, and reality is where we live.

I mean, it's okay, in my opinion, to escape into the movies and fantasy (I've been known to do it myself), but it's not okay to bring it into real life, to expect what happens in the movies you see or the fantasies you have to happen to you in your own life, and to react poorly when life doesn't happen like you fantasized it would.

Touldengal 08-29-2011 02:11 PM

i agree with you guys completely.
one thing i dislike about dawson very much is exactly what you've said. he thinks that because he lives in a fantasy world, that everyone should be living in it too.
It's funny because the series ended with him finally living his dream and like Claire said, that's really cool... but to expect life to turn out like they do in the movies? that's unhealthy.

Ali, I'm not a huge fan of the DP friendship. I feel like Dawson was way too self involved. I know Pacey has his faults, but I really didn't appreciate how often Dawson put him down.

Sheebs 08-29-2011 03:16 PM

He was so dramatic about everything. Laying in your bedroom, staring at empty walls? At 16? Really? Good lord.

Anti-Soulmates 08-29-2011 05:28 PM

The Dock scene is my favorite Dawson scene of all time!

Theres so many things I'm not a fan of when it comes to Dawson. In the beginning I liked that he liked to direct movies but I didn't like how he thought he could be the director of everyone elses life. I think Joey said something how Dawson has like these cookie cutter images of how the people in his life should be but no one actually fit into the molds.

And the Pacey Dawson relationship to me is always summed up to that speech Dawson made at his birthday party where he was upset that Pacey was no longer the screw up so that he looked better in comparison. I think that even if the whole Joey situation wouldntve happened they would not stay close friends. Dawson needed someone to make him the good guy.

It may be wrong but this just became my new favorite thread.;)

Touldengal 08-30-2011 05:28 AM

 i agree. that speech he made at his birthday was exactly why he wasn't happy in their friendship for so long. and how can pacey ever forget that!

clarkson_fan 08-30-2011 02:48 PM

I still can't believe the audacity Dawson had when he said those things to Pacey. Drunk or not, his actions and words throughout the whole show proved that he meant what he said to Pacey. What kind of friend is that?

They were never truly best friends in my book. And frankly, Pacey deserved way better a friend then Dawson. I actually think Jack was a way better male friend to Pacey.

Ali 08-30-2011 09:09 PM

Ugh. The way they had Pacey say, "it's okay" about the whole thing makes me sick. It was not okay. Dawson was legit impervious to how horribly he treated Pacey. And so were the writers. I'm kind of glad that they never became very close again after S3 because Pacey deserved better. I mean, if it was written differently... where Dawson treated Pacey as an equal, I could get behind it. But as it was, I have serious issues with their so-called friendship.

Quote:

Well, even if Pacey said that in all seriousness, i don't think he liked it. One bit. Even if Pacey thought at the time that Dawson was the center of their little group and that he, Pacey, didn't deserve to be with Joey like Dawson supposedly "derserved" to be with her, it was really hurting Pacey, i think.
 And Dawson would've picked up on that if he got off of the subject of himself for one minute.

Anti-Soulmates 09-01-2011 02:07 PM

I think Dawson felt like he never had to apologize for the things he did, so he didnt. I cant think of a time where Dawson ever said he was sorry for any of his actions which is the difference between him and all the other characters in the show to me. Whenever he did something wrong I felt that the writers just made it "a Dawson thing" , like he is allowed to lash out anyway he wants without having to worry about the consequences.
