Cool! I watched the show since the beginning at first it wasn't that great but it got better with each passing episode. Plus its great to see Rodney Scott play JJ's friend he used to play Will Krudski on Dawson's Creek.

Thanks for the new thread. I'm sick and don't feel like messing with spoilers right now. I'll get them up in a few days.

Yeah he's not the skinny kid we saw back in season 3 that's for sure. I didn't recognize him at first either until I heard him speak.

Episode 2.11 - Beyond the Wire
 • After Patty watches a film on becoming a woman at school, she buys a bra that's too big. Roxanne tells her that buying lingerie isn't like buying gum and offers to buy her one that fits correctly.
 • Meg, Sam and Drew go to a playground to clean it up. This is an organized group thing; they're not the only ones there. Nathan and some Muslims show up and tell them to get out, that white people aren't wanted in the neighborhood. Meg and Drew and the other white students start to leave. (I don't know what Sam does.) I don't know if there's more but later in the show Jack tells Meg that she screwed up and Meg isn't at dinner that night.
 • Will wants to get a paper route.

This was in Soap Opera Weekly. I haven't seen it so I'm not sure what the date is. Last week I think.

American Dreams, Soap Style

Soap stars are a good thing - so believes American Dreams executive producer Jonathan Prince.

"All these daytimers -- we're so good to soap people," he says, referring to contract players Brittany Snow (ex-Susan, Guiding Light), Paul Wasilewski (ex-Max, GL), Sam Page (ex-Trey, All my Children) and recurring stars Alicia Coppola (ex-Lorna, Another World) and Christopher Cousins (ex-Cain, One Life to Live). "They are the people who know how to tell these soap-style stories and make them real."

Not that the American Dreams stories aren't drenched in enough reality to begin with. This week's episode has 9-year-old Will preparing for surgery that will hopefully repair his polio-afflicted leg enough so that he will no longer need a brace. "He'll spend three episodes in the hospital," Prince previews. "It's heartbreaking."

On the more upbeat, romantic side, both Meg and Roxanne find love. "I like to say Roxanne dates a guy with a microphone and Meg dates one with a megaphone," Prince says, referring to a would-be rock star and a rebel with a cause. Viewers can also expect an engagement, a conversion to the Muslim faith, a death, a loss of virginity, marital tension -- and oh, yes, a war in Vietnam.

American Dreams airs Sundays at 8 p.m. EST on NBC.

I read somewhere that NBC has cut back American Dream's order of episodes from 22 to 18. Due to disappointing ratings in Season 2. Has anyone heard if this is true?

I hope JJ doesn't die! Wonder if it will be someone in JJ's troop which makes him reconsider his devotion to the military. Or will he get injured and come back Stateside!

And who coverts to the Muslim faith?

Yes, it's true. It was posted on thefutoncritic.com and might be on zap2it.com too. I haven't checked there.

engagement = Beth and JJ
a death = Sam's mom
a loss of virginity = Roxanne
marital tension = Helen and Jack

I think we've already seen the death so I'm not worried about JJ. I'm thinking it will be Nathan who becomes a Muslim.

Ah, thanks.

I didn't think of Sam's mother when I read the death one, but it makes sense...

And the rest of your conclusions, I got to.

Episode 12 is called Sex, Lies and Reel-to-Reel Tapes. JJ's in Vietnam. That's all I have for this one.

this is such a great show! I hate to see eps getting cut! One of the few really interesting shows on tv that encapsulates so many diff characters.

I knew poor JJ was going to have to go to Vietnam. I think this is totally going to throw him and beth into major turmoil. My guess is that he is going to get hurt and be sent home and be disillutioned.
