I REALLY LIKED THIS EPISODE!
I don't really like Spade, but I don't think you are supposed to. ANDY IS THE BOSS! HE is so freaking adorable and perfect! I love him! He handled himself really well and I think he is going to be great. STANLEY! OMG ! LET ME DIE! "Shove it up your butt!" WOW! I have died and gone to heaven. I cackled the loudest at that one! Pam AND ANGELA are preggers?! Angela is married to the gay Senator..WHAT!? I need more information! Hormonal Pam was great. I knew what commercial she was talking about just by that song. Planking... Dwight stopping the planking. I really liked it. It made me smile and laugh and it got to my heart. |

Must admit I loved the premier.
Andy <33333333333333333333 Just awesome and perfect! The planking was fun. The end Pam (and Jim) thing was so sweet/cute. Stanley - Awesome! Lots of good bits with Kevin, Phyllis, Toby, Ryan etc. Toby was on the winners list and couldn't believe it and left. Thumbs up from me. __________________

^ 2 thumbs up for me. And I'm shocked to come here with a positive review, but this episode was really just, FANTASTIC. And Andy (while I was shocked/thrown off at first) is actually a great choice. It will take a few episodes to adjust to him being interviewed in Michael's chair vs. the Conference room. But, I have to say, this was a great episode, all-around. Even the idea of this supposed list, it almost felt like the show was going back to it's original form... which was nice. I also loved Andy's comments about the people on the bad list. And Jim's proclamation that Pam may/may-not frame.

Hello, fellow The Office fans. I know many of you may disagree with me and that's fine. After all, we're all entitled to our own views and I would never look down on those who have a view different than mine. That said, after watching the season 8 premier episode I have to say I have mixed reviews on this episode.
First let me say that what I didn't like is Pam and Angela being pregnant. How many times do we need a story line where one, or in this case two, members of the office are pregnant? This story line was already done once with Pam (obviously), and quite frankly it just feels like the writers are recycling the same story line due to running out of new ideas. I know it will have a different twist than the first time around, but I just don't think it's necessary to go down this road again. I know Jenna Fischer is pregnant in real life, but that doesn't necessarily mean it has to be written into the show. Angela Kinsey's real life pregnancy in 2008 was not written into the show and the episodes in 2008 were just fine without doing so. I think we all know they will exploit the various cliches of pregnancy. It's just a matter of how many of them will they exploit. Not only that, but it will be a double dose of it with both Pam and Angela being pregnant. The other thing I did not like is Robert California. As ILoveOTH23 already pointed out, I don't think we are supposed to like him, but I think they could have developed this character a little better. Perhaps I feel this way because I really enjoy James Spader as an actor and it's a bit disappointing to me that the writers could not have developed his character in a different manner. The last thing that I was disappointed in was the return of Gabe. I know he has his fans and that's perfectly fine with me. I, however, do not like him. I haven't liked him from the get go and I thought he was finally gone, so seeing him still on the show was a let down for me. Now for the things I liked. I love Andy as the manager. Although Andy was quite adept at creating hilarious moments in ways very similar to Michael, I am very glad to see the writers did not turn him into Michael. In fact, it seems to be quite the opposite which I really enjoy. In my opinion Andy seems to have gone through a bit of a maturing process that will make him a good manager, though I think he still has more growing to do and I hope we get to see that happen. I thought we started to see that at the end of last season when he turned the sales meeting around after DeAngelo wrecked it. When I saw that I started rooting for Andy to be the new manager. I really liked how he stood up to RC and went to bat for Stanley, Meredith, Pam and Erin. Andy certainly isn't perfect and still has a lot to learn, but I liked how he seems to have already gained a little more respect from the office staff and seems to be taking them in a direction different than what Michael did. And as I mentioned before, I'm really glad that they didn't just turn Andy into Michael. I loved Michael and miss him dearly already, but it's nice to see a different style of leadership from Andy. I'm very anxious to see how this will continue to play out and I hope we all enjoy season 8. -TMH Last edited by TheMadHatter; 09-23-2011 at 12:36 AM Reason: name correction |

Many of my friends were very taken back by how Robert California has officially been added to the cast. I personally found the formula fine, and I like Andy as a the new manager. The show kinda felt fine, much better than those dreadful post-Michael episodes from last season, if anything.
