Gossip Girl S&S #668: Because all our characters are victims of the emptiness in Josh Schwartz's soul.

Welcome to the Gossip Girl spoiler and speculation thread, feel free to post about any upcoming story-line and discuss it with the other people in here. We urge you to not bash the actors nor the users because it's not allowed by the rules, but anything else with a good argument is welcomed.

Effective immediately, the Spoilers Board Moderators reserve the right to temporarily close any thread that does not heed four official warnings given on any issue. This means that, if the Spoilers Board Moderators have to come in with four official warnings about any issue whatsoever, within 24 hours or so, then that particular thread will be temporarily closed. The duration of closure is subject to the Spoilers Board Moderators' discretion. Upon re-opening of the temporarily closed thread, said thread will be closed again if any warnings are given within 24-48 hours of the reopening. Lastly, if numerous warnings need to be given over the course of a week, and the moderators suspect an attempt to get around the "four warnings" rule to avoid closure, we reserve the right to temporarily close the thread.

Episode 2.18: The Age Of Dissonance
Airdate: March 16, 2009
Description: NOT CONFIRMED Chuck Bass is having trouble dealing with the mystery that was his father and the way in which his spare time was managed.
Nate Archibald catches Vanessa flirting with another guy, and at a moment of desperation, reluctantly turns to Blair for help.
Dan Humphrey purposely ignores Serena's calls and tells Miss Carr that things are beyond complicated between the two of them. Meanwhile, Miss Carr chooses not to take her job back at Constance and spends most of her time in an empty apartment with her new fling, who doesn't seem to be quite grieving from his recent break-up.
At the same time, Lily and Rufus question where their relationship is going and talk casually about merging their households. Chuck however, is against the idea, and does everything in his power to stop it.

Kristin said what?:
- A huge core couple will get back together unexpectedly and it's guaranteed to make you cry.
- The love child will come back late season 2 or early season 3.
- Dan and Serena will continue to go in circle for a few episodes before Dan gets involved with the teacher.
- Nate and Vanessa will be going strong. She will help him a bit with the Chuck situation.
- CB are done for now. They will be attending 3 different colleges.
- RL are triggering Kristin's morning sickness. No CB-officialness this season.
- Money problems for Rufus. Poppy coming back for Serena.

Ausiello scoops:
Exclusive: 'Gossip Girl' spots Anne Hathaway-inspired plot | Gossip Girl | Ausiello Files | EW.com
- Stephanie Savage says that even though Nate and Blair "look really cute together kissing in the snow," Chuck and Blair fans should still "hang in there."
- Nate gets a rich, married, Vanderbilt cousin in his 20s.
- Serena and Anne Hathaway will have something in common.
- Lily and Rufus' love child will appear on the show in April or May.
- The show is casting the possibly recurring role of an "unassumingly cute" 16-year-old male. Sounds like Jenny's getting a new suitor!
- Gossip Girl will have 25 episodes this season!

Interviews:
- - According to Korbi, Nate and Blair will be but a blip on the GG timeline.
- - Photographer Patrick McMullan will have a cameo in a future episode.
- - SpoilerTV says: They are casting for a dashing socialite male in his 20s. He will be on the show from 2.20 - 2.24.
- - According to Stephanie: Dan and Blair will play each other's love interests, and Serena will have a big story line at the end of the season that will include one of Blair's biggest foes.
- - According to Stephanie: They will be doing prom and graduation. Georgina is coming back near the end of the season.
- - According to Stephanie Savage: Vanessa will go to college; Nate and Blair will continue to be friends; Dan and Blair will star in a school play together; Nate will feel a pull towards " the people he started his journey with" and surprising feelings will come to the surface.
- - According to Josh: "Certain times a situation is so dire that it requires the assistance of even your most sworn enemy. It just might come to pass that Serena and Blair find themselves in a situation where they have no recourse other than to recruit Georgina Sparks."
- - According to josh: Dan and Serena's secret half-brother again. (I'd explain the previous sentence more fully but it would take up way too much space).
Schwartz did say that Michelle Trachtenberg would be back around April and May as troublemaker Georgina Sparks, and Chuck (Ed Westwick) and Blair (Leighton Meester) would remain at the forefront of the show.
"We get that that [relationship] works for people," Schwartz said with a laugh.
He also noted that many of the show's teen characters "graduate at the end of this year -- that's going to be a very big deal and it will shape direction of the show heading into Season 3."

Magazines:
- - According to New York Magazine:
Next season will be college, but some characters won't be attending.
Lily will not be pregnant.

Unknown/Other sources, but reliable, nonetheless:
- Dashing young man being cast for episodes 20-24. (Source: SpoilerTv)

IA with all of this except Blair's. She had a hard time even admitting to her BFF that Marcus was to make Chuck jealous, and she never said to Marcus that it was Chuck's fault, rather she admitted her problems.
Leo: Do you not remember the end of the season premiere? Blair literally said, "You MADE ME use him!" to Chuck. And Chuck replied, "I didn't make you do anything."

I was soo hardcore CB until this season, once I realized that they jus amounted to hurting eachother it really turned me off, love doesnt have to be equal, love is about not giving a crap about who owes who what and just embracing the truth. thats why i got turned on to them again with blair stepping up and being the bigger person when bart died, but then after chuck still couldnt embrace her, it just proved to me how incompadable they really are, IMO

I can see that and it's true it depends on everyone's bias. But I really think the show want us to think he does it for her.

Maybe the suicide more than the note. But what he did when he came back proved him right you know. He knew he was going to self destroy and didn't want her to be in any pain because of it... He wouldn't have left tbh if he had nothing going on with her...
thats totally legit bb, and i wasnt trying to nullify you, you had some AMAZING points, just chipping in another perspective

Any time someone says, "They made me do it," they are playing the victim. And every single character has said that at least once.

Chuck - Jack made me go out with the hookers and do blow.
Dan - Serena's lies made me seek comfort in "Sarah"
Serena - Georgina made me lie and party
Blair - Chuck made me use James to make him jealous
Jenny - Vanessa made me embarrass her publicly at the ball
Vanessa - Blair made me blackmail her
Nate - Catherine made me prostitute myself
They've all had a moment of playing the victim. That doesn't mean they always do. Like once I glared at my roommate, does that rare occurrence make me a grumpy person? Um no, not when I'm giddy 99% of the time.

When he says that to others, do you think they will agree with him or feel sorry for him? this is the poor me card. I'm such a bad person, poor mee!

To Dan in 2x05: My father blames me for my mother's death, poor me!
To Everybody in 2x13: My father died, poor meee!

Now I ask you, would Blair do the same? NO, she'd do the exact opposite, pretend she is alright.

And tbh C could have left without telling her anything or writting her anything or even not going to her... he had no reason whatsoever to lie about thinking he wasn't good enough for her...

Exactly, Anita. Blaming someone else once or twice for your actions does not make you someone who plays the victim. Just like insulting someone out of anger once or twice does not make you abusive. And so on and so forth. One action does not define you.

Word bebe.
Also do you remember how your "we're Josh and Steph, Steph and Josh..." quote went? Can I use it in my sig?

SO much WORD. Chuck plays the villain. He wears the crown and the title of the devil.

This is pivotal to Chuck's character, because he doesn't ever know how to be anything but the villain. He has no other way to define himself.
IA. This is what I was trying to say but I have Friday brain lol. Everything is coming out like I'm a stinted freak.

It all comes down to what you want to see I guess. But to the objective mind, I don't get how you can say Chuck plays a victim. He's the manipulator, not the sad manipulatee. Ok that's not a word but FRIDAY BRAIN!

ITA leo and even though he thought he was "saving blair from himself" in 13-15, IMO he was just relinquishing any responsibility that he had from the situation so then his actions wouldnt have any repercussions.....IMO thats just being a coward

lol He waited 17 years to tell ANYONE about his mother and suddenly he plays the "poor me" card, doesn't really add up does it?

And he was sad in 213 because his dad dies, can't really blame him!

B would probably be stronger because she is. it's her personality. And pretending nothing's wrong unfortunately is actually bad for her...
