How do you burn AVI files?

I have a bunch of tv shows saved to my computer in AVI format, and I want to burn them onto a disc. I tried burning one episode onto a CD, but it didn't work. A message came up saying that it wasn't the right type of file or there wasn't enough room on the CD or something. So I'm wondering if anyone has any clue how to burn these files. I'm sure there's something I'm doing wrong. HELP!

AVI files are burned on DVDs, and I think you need some type of software to do this.

Do you want to burn the videos to watch them on your DVD player or you just want to burn them as backup? Do you have a DVD burner?

Even if you don't, you can burn them to a regular CD as a VCD (video CD) and play them in some DVD players.

Not having enough space and not being the right file type is a totally different thing. You should be able to put an AVI on a disk. Are you trying to burn more than one on a same disk? There probably isn't enough room on a CD to put, say, two hour-long episodes of a show.

You need a software to burn it on a dvd disk for a dvd burner, not all dvd burners do the job :\ I have Neros

I've had to use this program

Thank for all the help guys

Do any of you know if there's some kind of gadget (like an iPhone, etc.) that I could upload these files to, or no way?

Yeah. Do you want them to be just on something else, like a backup?

Yeah, you can do that. I don't know what is the video format iPhone plays, but probably Mp4, so you need a program that can converts your .avi format episodes into .mp4.
You can use ImToo MPEG Encoder to do that.

What [Mac] programs do you need if you want to burn videos to watch on your dvd player? I tried Toast and it didn't work on both my dvd player and my computer's dvd player. It just saved it as a data disc even though I was on the "dvd" palette [rather than the regular back up one].
