Episode 14.8: Coming Home
Broadcast Date: November 15

NBC: HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS -- GORAN VISNJIC RETURNS, STANLEY TUCCI ("The Devil Wears Prada") AND REIKO AYLESWORTH ("24") GUEST STAR-- Gates (John Stamos) and Julia (guest star Reiko Aylesworth) nurture their newly found romance but are quickly interrupted by a troubled phone call from Sarah (Chloe Greenfield). Abby (Maura Tierney) continues to be off her game and the other doctors are starting to take notice. Harold (Steven Christopher Parker) saves the day in a critical situation and still makes his date. Kovac (Goran Visnjic) surprises Abby by returning a day earlier. Mekhi Phifer, Linda Cardellini, Parminder Nagra and Scott Grimes also star.

TV Guide: With Abby's bad attitude putting everyone on edge, the staff is happy when Luka surprises his wife in the ER. Elsewhere, Neela becomes a proud resident when Harold's surgical instincts kick in; and Tony and Julia rush to Sarah's rescue after her attempts to fit in with new friends go awry.

Zoran Radanovich has been casted as Luka's brother, Niko.

NBC: LIVING UP TO YOUR FULL POTENTIAL-KARI MATCHETT ("24") GUEST STARS – Kovac’s (Goran Visnjic) brother comes for a visit from Croatia causing Abby (Maura Tierney) to feel crowded in her own home. Gates (John Stamos) starts to feel the pressure of fatherhood when Sarah (Chloe Greenfield) decides to have a sleepover with her friends. Meanwhile, Pratt is upset when a new temporary ER chief is named. Parminder Nagra, Linda Cardellini and Scott Grimes also star.

TV Guide: Luka's return does little to relieve Abby, whose old habits distance her from friends and family; Gates readjusts to parenthood as Sarah settles back into life in Chicago. She apparently checked herself into the detox facility. My guess is at the end of 300 Patients.

It's clear from the sides that she did not go to Croatia and Luka took Joe with him. Luka wanted to return right after the funeral. Abby told him to stay, she needed to do parts of this recovery on her own.

Pratt has gone to bat for Abby to get her back to work ASAP, she then asks for time off to go to Croatia, 'a couple weeks'.

Anspaugh changes the deal to 60 meetings in 60 days when she teturns in addition to group and urine tests.

The other stories are a patient for Abby, a young girl who may be going blind.

Gates and Sam get a combative drug user who was beaten up and had a severe fracture. Also her neighbor, who saved her is interesting. He was injured in a car accident and disfigured badly at some point in the past.

Neela takes the ortho rotation. They play hockey in the hallways. Harold gets smacked in the head with a puck before being sent off to work with Crenshaw (whom Harold says hates him more than Dubenko does).

Jaspreet is still around.

More spoilers:

Beefcake firemen make Javier the desk clerk happy.

Seems a fire is what brings in a bunch of the patients this episode, including the little girl Abby treats. They are foster kids.

Harold and Morris are still vying for Jaspreet's affections

Abby returns to work and people all assume she's been in Croatia. She doesn't want to talk about it and answers things vaguely or not at all. "Luka's good" ""Croatia's European".

Pratt's toilet has been running for two weeks (yay?) and he is yelling at his land lord on the phone. Frank thinks he's yelling at Radiology.

Julia the chaplain is around. She keeps the chapel open all night for the fire fighters (one of their own has a spinal injury)

Julia has family woes. Her brother is a devout Catholic and a hedge fund millionaire. He's stopped in for a surprise visit. Thinks she's wasting her like as a chaplain making very little money.

Julia wants Gates to meet her family.

Morris is working while sick, hooked up to an IV and puking into a bed pan.

That's what I'm thinking, though I don't know if it is, Skye's not physically in 14.10 or 11, Dubenko's not in 12. So if they hook up in 9, that's one short lived 'romance'.

My guess is that it is Dubenko and Skye. Could it be that the secret romance is an exaggeration for subtle yet obvious flirtation? Maybe there is a chemistry going on between them that is very apparent on screen but hasn't reached the point of intimacy.

I agree, I think it is Dubenko and Skye. Just so long as he isn't with Neela, I'm happy and I actually liked Skye when she first appeared. Dubenko deserves somebody that will love him for who he is.

The problem with it being Skye and Dubenko is that 14.9 is the only episode they have together. So it's either more of a 'hook up' and less romance, or it's not them at all. Hard to be a romance if they are never together. Really hard to sell as a new couple if the viewers never see them as such.

Grossman (ortho) is in 9-12.

I'll be glad to see that Dubenko is finally having his feelings reciprocated rather than just secretly pining away for someone and then a random admission!...

I'm really curious as to who they're gonna cast as Grossman now - seems like he'll be a quirky character - and if the given description of the Ortho team is anything to go by, slightly annoying!...

Sad that there is no mention of a link with Ray yet - but, I guess we can all carry on hoping!

I have a feeling they will go dwn the Sam/Gates route - theres too much interaction btween them - although personally is seems as inconceivable for Sam to go for Gates as it did for Neela - after all the crap she had with Steve(or whatever) you'd think the writers would show her wising up! - but then again i'd prefer Sam, rather than being subjected to the forced disgustingness of Neela/Gates!...

Somebody has already mentioned this at LJ. but..
What if a secret romance is between Neela and Grossman...What if this is Neela's "fun" for this season..

I know, I'm panicking but I can't help it

I really hope this romance is between Dubenko and Skye!!

I was worrying about the same thing, Edith. But I think we just have to cross our fingers and assume that Neela won't be in the middle of any other romances for a change this season (until, hopefully, we see Ray again).

I highly doubt its Neela/Grossman - mainly because Neela already seems to have a hell of a lot on her plate - and the focus for her character seems to be work, they're making up for the lack of frm last year! - i'm still gonna go with Dubenko/Skye - lets hope i'm right!
