In the year 2089, and after The Great War which decimated all of the world and technology, a scientist by the named Dr. Arthur Lyons began to do the unthinkable. He formed a secret facility called the Gate, and he went against the laws of man and God and created six genetically engineered soldiers which he named The Ares Project in honor of the god of war Ares. The six children (Zan, Rannon, Keema, Kidada, Lex, and Ty) are wired to be geniuses, to be masters of martial arts, to withstand disease and pain, to heal quickly, to run faster, jump higher, and see farther than any human being.

As the children get older they suspect that something is wrong at The Gate. They begin going on missions where they are ordered to steal and murder. They eventually over hear a conversation, finding out that Dr. Lyons plans to sell them one by one to the highest bidder.

They barely escaped and now they are on the run from Dr. Lyons who cannot let his secret be known.

Now they are trying to live outside of The Gate and they have to adjust to the outside world and people who aren't like them. They haven't told anyone who and what they really are because people are afraid of the genetically engineered.

They are determined to stay together and end up taking up residence in an abandoned apartment building in a now decimated Los Angeles. They have people around them who are human that they have tried to have normal relationships with while trying to keep their secret.

SETTINGS:

The Apartment:
The apartment is very rundown. There is power supplied by a generator that is illegally running. There are many tenants, including the Ares kids.

Joe’s Diner:
All of the Ares girls work at Joe’s Diner. It is located in the heart of Los Angeles. There are other waitresses, waiters and cooks.

Speedy’s Auto Shop:
All of the Ares guys work at the auto shop. There are other mechanics, etc. who work there.

SETTING: All of the Ares are in different places around the house. They will all be meeting in the living room for a weekly meeting in which Rannon tells them how things are, and makes sure everything is okay with all of them. We will bring in the humans as they all leave for work.

Zan:
I sat on the moth-eaten couch that we had sitting in our living room. I waited as everyone filed in for our usual weekly meeting. They were a lot like the debriefings we would get from Dr. Lyons before and after missions, except now it was Rannon who was our leader, and now we were no longer under someone else's control.

Rannon and Keeman were my rocks as of late. After we escaped from The Gate, I became someone different. Someone afraid. When I was trapped inside Dr. Lyons hell hole, I was a fireball, waiting to get free of his control. Now that I was outside, I was afraid of new demons while I had the old ones still chasing after me.

I smiled as I thought of Rannon. I was in love with him, although no one knew, and I would tell no one. He had been the only thing keeping me sane while we were all locked up. Now he was my provider, the one watching over us and making sure we were safe. I just prayed he could keep us safe from Lyons.

Ty:
I ran downstairs, hoping I wasn't late for the meeting, but I noticed as I tripped down the last two stairs, that Zan was the only one in the living room so far. I sat across from her on an old milk crate.

We all seemed to be different now that we had escaped. No matter how much we hated it, The Gate had been our homes since we were born. We might have loathed the very ground it was built on, but it was the only ground we knew.

And now, not only am I looking behind my back, always worried that I'll turn around and Lyons will be there, but now I'm in love.

Kathleen lives right down the hall from us, and she's perfect for me. I can't get my mind off of her, and I'm afraid that one day something might sneak up on me.

Rannon

I was in the kitchen trying to think of how to put this right. Everything seemed to be going okay I hadn't heard anything around town about Lyons. I mean I kept my ears open I had great hearing. This should comfort all the girls. Especially Zan. She seemed like she worried a little to much sometimes but thats what I liked about her. She was always thinking about what was important and how to keep the family safe. Zan, I liked her alot. I couldn't tell her though I mean because that might make her start worrying more and we really didn't need that.

I shook my head. Right all I needed to tell them was to lay low and keep their ears peeled about Lyons. We were safe so far, lets just hope it stays that way.

Endless Rain

Keema
Things have been a little left of center since the big break. A little off. Just a bit. Keema could feel it pulsating, pounding, driving insistently through her veins, in her very being. There was something wrong and whatever it was it was throwing something seriously unsettling within her. Usually they'd have their weekly checkup with Dr. Lyons and it seemed like a habit by now. Almost natural... but nothing was natural about them about her. That was far from the point. The poitn at this moment... the prime objective, was the welfare of the group. What was left at the least. These people Keema knew so well were just remnants of who they were when they were at the gate. It was almost as upsetting as that nagging feeling leeching at her insides.

Walking into the living room, she gave a cool scan across the room, scrutinizing every detail just the way she always did. She kept a keen eye on almost everything around these parts, but it was just built in for her. The people who were filling the room were just a portion of the batch that were supposed to be there. Keema expected there to be more people ready by now. Instead she chose to address the people who were present while she listed the things she needed to address in her mind: intel on Lyons and operations at the Gate... maybe get Lex to look into that while putting a few people on some civie duties... "Where's everyone?" Her voice was cool and gravelly oozing through the room with a fierce authority. Poised and ready as always with her hands at her hips, Keema looked expectantly at the others.

An inquisitive brow popped up on her like a mothering hen. No doubt Kidada was off in her dalliances. She rolled her eyes mentally at that thought. The way she worked was a mystery to Keema. A complete puzzle. It was odd for Lex to be late... looking pointedly at the group she wondered to herself: Shouldn't they be getting them or was she going to be doing all the work from now on?

OOC: Hey I'm Maxi... I thought I'd intro myself and stuff... No clue if I played Keema right as noted in her profile. I'm trying.

Zan:
"I have no idea where everyone else is. They should all be in here by now." I shook my head. "We've really been slacking since we haven't had Lyons down our throats 24/7."

In some respects I felt bad for Keema. She always had to be everyone's mother. She was the one, next to Rannon, who had the most influence over the rest of us. She kept the apartment in ship shape, she made sure we had enough groceries, and she made sure we all kept low profiles.

We all knew what would happen if Lyons found us. We'd be dead, or worse, we'd have to go back to The Gate. We all knew what his ultimate plan had been in the end. He was going to auction us all off to the highest bidder, and we would be made to do unthinkable things.

I thanked God, or whoever was upstairs, daily for Rannon and Keema's presences in our lives. I loved my family, everyone of them. But Rannon and Keema held special places in my heart.

Rannon:

I walked into the living room to see the three of them sitting there. "We'll start when everyone gets here," I tell them and sit down next to Zan and smile at her. "So hows the jobs going?" I ask trying to think of something to start converstation with. I haven't really seen everyone all together in a few days so this meeting was important.

Keema looked nervous about something. "Are you okay?" I asked her. She was very protective us all. She got nervous easily if we weren't all checking in with her.

Kathleen:

I started to clean up my room. I had invited Ty to come over after he got off work. He said he has to check in with his family or something but that was cool. I liked Ty he was so much fun to hang out with but there was something off about him and I couldn't put my finger on it. I decided not to dwell on it there was always something off about guys. His family cared about him and helped me out so I really couldn't judge them. I had the most fun being with them and it was nice to know they looked out for me a bit since I didn't have a real family

Kidada

I yawned as i got up and started roaming around this guy's room. He was stil sleepng, which was good. I'd rather him sleep until i left them wake up and see me snooping. It was sad that i already forgot his name, i sighed as there was nothing good in this room so i slipped out of it and remembered the meeting we were suposed to have. I hated going to them, all i got were snide remarks and icy glares from across the room. But i guess i gave them back just as fast as they were delivered. I

I took a deep breath as i walked into the room to see Zan and Keema in the room, great. I sat down in a red uncomfortable chair as i brought my knees up and hugged them. I looked around then ended up staring at both Zan and Keema. They had the easier life of the Ares, also everybody else. I had a tendicy to point fingers and put self pity on myslef. Which ends up making you feel worse about everything.

Endless Rain

Keema
Keema looked over to Zan, a hard look unconciously shooting at him. She tended to seem a bit hardened and jaded much of the time, hard as she tried to change that. "I'm fine, Rannon. Thanks for asking." Keema still seemed a bit stiff. He seemed to see right through that though... it was pretty hard to fool a man like him and she was certainly not very convincing. "I'm wondering where everyone else is right now..." It was unnatural for people to disobey protocol and this was beginning to be more ritual than anything now. If someone didn't check in, Keema just felt like a mother hen that lost a chicklet.

"I'm beginning to think there may be something going on at the Gate..." She expressed her concerns quietly with Rannon. It wasn't that she kept secrets, but it wasn't the time to say anything yet and it was only a feeling. Keema was waiting for some evidence before unveiling her thoughts to the group. "It's just a bit uncharacteristic of Lyons right now..."

Lex
Argh. Late again. Was it just in his blood to be late, or was it some mental deficiency. Rushing in hoping he wasn't the last one, boots knocked heavily against the ground with a slight pant in his veins. Looking about the room quickly, he let out a slight breath. Kidada... Ripping his stare away Lex tried to keep calm as he walked to a seat near Zan. "Sorry..." He looked to Rannon and sighed. This needed to stop happening... Lex was checking in some information on Gate ops and time just shot away from him. He'd been overclocking his drive since the day he got it. Lex was sure if someone cut his arm, he'd bleed coffee with all the caffeine shooting around in his brain.

In fact he was pretty hopped up at that moment. Looking around, Lex was quietly jumping about, unable to keep still... always drifting over to Kidada... Snapping out of it, he cleared his throat and looked at the ground fiddling with his handheld waiting for the meeting to begin...

Rannon

"Lex you can't do this, your late everytime." I tell him. I didn't understand what the hold up was. "What have you found?" I asked, I didn't want to tell everyone things seemed fine cause that sounded to suspicous. Sure Lyon's was looking for us but he hadn't announced it to anyone or anything.

I wondered if Keema knew anything either. It had been a while since we had a meeting, I felt the safest at these knowing we were all together. We just had to be careful of what we said so that Kathleen down the hall didn't hear anything. We havent' told her about us yet.

Kidada

I stretched my neck as Keema started talking. It obviously wasn't towards me since she had a actual nice tone. I always sort of wished that we could be friends, best friends. Then we'd have some Twin power thing going on. Like i'd ever say that outloud to her or anyone else. I popped a gum in my mouth as i started smacking it. My eyes roamed over Rannon as Lex stumbled in. The word i would use to describe him right now was..electric. He seemed to be a bit jumpy as i watched him take his seat. He looked at me and it felt as if there were fire in his eyes beaming down in me, this didnt' look good. I quickly pulled my eyes away the same time he did. This wasn't worth it, That wasn't worth it. I took a deep breath and hugged my legs tighter. I hated these things why didn't we just get them over with already? I yawned, i didn't get enough sleep last night, which made me grumpy. Hmph

Endless Rain

Lex
Eyes drifted towards Rannon from Kidada as he was being reprimanded. "I'm really sorry. I lost track of time going through some Gate files... finally got in, those firewalls are insane..." Right stay on topic... "But uh, I'll wait until everything's addressed..." Settling back against the seat, he smiled a bit anxiously at Zan before looking over at Kidada... again. Stop it! Lex promptly mentally smacked himself upside the head as hard as he could. Whack. Right like not being ridiculously gravitated to her was an option... whack. Shut up. Think about better things... the binary translation of the last Gate files... one... zero one one... zero one zero one... zero... Kidada. Whack. Stop.

It had taken Lex forever to get into the Gate system and now that he was in... well that's when the work should begin. Lex wanted to ask if there was any available people to help him out with some of the stack sorting and the queue filters... he'd say something... later. Later of course, until then he should just sit back and let his eyes go back over to Kidada. WHACK. He should stop this before he have himself an anyeurism or something...

Keema
Right. Time to get down to business, not before an unapproving eye was shot at Kidada. "We should get started." There was a firm tone in her voice as she looked to Rannon. Where to start... that it was uncharacteristic of Lyons to keep things so low profile? That he was probably boiling with rage? That things were indeed not fine? That it was always calm before the storm? Looking to Rannon after taking a short gaze at each member in the room, Keema sighed, waiting for him to make some opening speech or something...

Rannon

"See there is a problem whether there seems to be one or not. The problem is that Lyons is keeping such a low profile and we have to be very very careful...." I said which they all pretty much knew. Even though I was in charge I couldn't find anything. "Do you have an information?" I asked to Lex and Keema.

It really bothered me I felt so clueless everyone was looking to me to know what to do. I just looked at everyone. I felt like I was responsible for everyone and if something happens I would literally rip Lyons to shreds.

Kidada

I started biting my nails as Lex answered back. It was a nasty habbit of mine that i couldn't possibly get rid of. I titled my neck and gave Keema a icy glare back to her. Everyone was quiet as Keema stopped talking. I yawned outloud, i was definetly not going to start one of these. I looked over at Lex who seemed deep in his own thoughts. He looked like he was concentrating on something really hard. Hmm....I put down my legs as i crossed them. I took some red-tinted lipgloss out of my right pocket as i started putting it on slowly. My eyes roamed the room as i was wondered who was going to say something.

I bit my lip and tasted the lipgloss before putting it back into my pocket. I looked over at Lex again, he was still out in his own world. I always wondered what went on in his mind, he was the smart one. The one that could hack into anything if you asked him. I probably would get a virus on something if i logged into a computer. I never knew how to work thoes things, though i have never needed to know how.

Rannon started talking, obviously ignoring me. Figures. I just rolled my eyes in his direction and checked my nails for chips.

OOC: lol Thanks Brooke. I'll keep the whacks in my posts from now on. It seems so characteristic of him.

Keema
Keema seemed worried when Rannon didn't seem to have anything to report. Normally he was very much so in charge. Keema tended to be pretty gung ho and take charge, but Rannon seemed to have a lot of the members' trusts and so she never really made anything of it. It was about what worked best for everyone. "I think we need more intel on Lyons. Obviously we need more food and I'd prefer it if we all started to work on arming ourselves should the case be that we're going to get blitzed. We're sitting ducks right now." It was true though. They needed some serious change. Work on some more fortification now. "Any ideas?"

Lex
"I could put up security cameras around the perimeter." The suggested floated into the group and he let that simmer while Lex jumped to the next order of business. He didn't really like vocalizing when it wasn't necessary so he wanted to get everything out. The less times he'd have to talk, the better. "I got into Lyons's files but I'll need someone to help me go through all of them. Maybe if Ki-" Whack. Shut up! Maybe if what? Huh? What? Maybe if you had some quality time with Kidada you could sweep her off her feet? Is that what it was? May- Whack. Don't even talk. Just don't even. "Maybe if ki-loRAMs were added to the system I could work faster." Kai low? What are you thinking? Those things don't add to Big O efficiency at all! ... Well how else was I supposed to cover up her name. Whack. Quiet don't even start. Don't think about her at all.

Lex watched Kidada put on her lip closs... she was oozing sexuality. Whack. No. No Kidada. No ooze. No nothing. Period. End of story. That wasn't stopping from his staring though...

I looked at Lex weird. "You mean Kilobytes?" I asked there was no such thing as kilograms in a computer. "Yeah well that sounds good. Gettting armed. Ty why don't you get Kathleen to take you grocery shopping or something so then we won't put anyone at risk. You can keep a low profile. Plus its safe if you take someone with you. And Lex why don't you take Kidada with you when you put those security cameras up, be careful though don't do anything that could get you caught," I look at him. What was his problem lately. He was acting strange. I wonder if he had found something while he was out that he wasn't telling us.
