Way back after season 2 when Kate died, she Couldn’t deal with the last-minute changes in the long hours. Mark threatened Original create and executive producer to leave if he didn’t step away from day to day creative . Donald was making script changes after days of long shoots .
Hey Paulie has saved made enough $$$, now she is looking for the right project

Definitely Mark upped his part of the show, but I don't think it was back in Season 2. But he did force out the creator due to behind the scene drama...in Season 4 or 5.
Sasha wanted to leave because of the long hours, and she hadn't expected it be as much as it was and she only really had experience with shorter run shows, and didn't know what she was signing up for back then. The show didn't take it well, and killed her off.... At least she came back for the season three premiere to give Kate a proper good-bye.
We all know how Cote's departure went. But with her, and how last minute her departure was... And how disruptive it was for the show. Both Mark and Pauley took it hard...
Michael gave a lot of advance notice. Of course it was obvious in that year, the lack of scenes one and one with Gibbs and Tony was noticible except for the finale...
So for Pauley to give months notice. It's not hard for their to be gossip. And to see it within the episodes, and now the finale..
While it's hard to know whether any of it was true. It gives credence to the gossip.
I believe Mark feels it's hard for anyone to willingly give up such a successful show. Especially in this day and age where shows can be cancelled on a dime... And fears for the show's ratings, and back in Season 2. It wasn't as much as a factor. But once the show became such a overwhelming hit. Cast departments cause distruption. And especially Tony's departure started the ratigns to go down...
I understand why people wanted to leave. Especially Pauley after being there since the beginning...
